(nah, it's fine. It's my own fault for taking so long, anyway, please tell her I'm sorry.)
This was too easy.
FAR too easy.
They meet NO ONE on their way to the exit, and they just find the doors open so they were free to go? Something didn't add up.
“Something's not right here,” she muttered. “They wouldn't let us leave THAT easily, would they?”
Of course, it had been a long time since she had viewed hospital protocol...
“Hey! You! Nurse!”
Ah, there it is, Schrode thought as she turned to look at the speaker. One of the doctors, it looked like.
“Have you seen the patient yet?” he demanded as he walked towards them.
“Ah, no,” Schrode replied, “I've been busy with this boy, I was told to take him outside for some fresh air.”
She was not a good liar.
“Who is he, then?” he asked. “Doesn't look familiar to me.”
“He was just admitted today,” Schrode continued. “He--”
“Wait,” the doctor interrupted. He examined Schrode closely. “You don't look familiar either...”
A look of realization struck his features. “Wait, you're not--”
Schrode didn't let him finish as she slammed her palm into his face, knocking him over. “Doc's checking out, sorry!” she exclaimed as she grabbed Brennan and ran out the door, ignoring the doctor's yells.
Still, she mused as they made their getaway, there's something weird about this whole thing. But what?

As Brennan exited the building, he realized something. The doors were unlocked. Since when were simple service doors unlocked?
As Schrode muttered, it was obvious that she shared his misgivings. But you never looked a gift horse in the mouth, so.........
But no. A doctor strode after them. "Have you seen the patient yet?" he demanded. Shrodinger shook her head. "Ah.... no. I've been busy with this boy. I've been told to give him some fresh air." But it was stuttery and unsure, and Brennan winced. It sounded like she was just as bad at lying as he was. So it was with relief he watched as the doctor peered into his eyes. As he recognized that they weren't genuine, the Professor felled him with a palm to the face. As he stumbled to his feet, they were already running. "Nice one-liner," he grinned. Those were practically required by Comedy.
"Now, before we end up in a classic chase scene, let's take this next corner and find a nice little diner to eat in."

“I doubt they'd be so determined to dissect you they'd start chasing you out of the hospital, but stranger things have happened,” Schrode replied. “And I agree—I could use a drink.”
(Think we're good for this thread? Let me know via PM, I'm sure Nortamrican shouldn't be kept waiting any longer.)
