Leviathan chuckled in kind, as if he'd been playing an old 'inside joke' game with the Tarutaru woman.
"But of course, miss Barbara. Miss Shantotto here wishes to ask us a question... though I must admit that I'm not fully sure what she means by 'energy'. Are you talking about m'lady's energy that animates her? Because if so, we're as lost as you, Miss Shantotto.
Squigly nodded. "Usually it requires a necromantic artifact called the Skull Heart to bring me back but Leviathan can't sense it anywhere."

Shantotto took in the response, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. Something about what they said seemed to really catch her intrigue....
"The Skull Heart you say, how very interesting, very interesting indeed.
Such a name befitting the energy that I feel, truly deserved, agreed?"
She chortles as she looks over the group. Barbara looked very uncomfortable for some reason... Something about what Shantotto said seemed to rub her the wrong way.
She quickly found out why.
"It is truly odd however, that you are standing without this energy as you claim,
Or maybe it is not odd at all! Maybe the reason is not as mysterious as the same.
Perhaps this Skull Heart is on the island somewhere,
Familiar energies I've felt, as apparent as a flare."

The response was nearly instantaneous. "WHAT?!"
The zombie girl and her Parasite looked at each other. "How? It can't have been that many years already..."
Leviathan scratched his chin with his tail. "I couldn't sense its power... this is so strange. Is there anything else you can tell us, Lady Shantotto?"

... For some reason, even as Shantotto revealed her reasoning, the uncomfortable pit in Barbara's stomache refused to go away.... Something was coming, she could feel it.
"Nothing I could tell you would be completely accurate I fear.
But that is why I stopped you, you see, I make myself clear."
................ A spell charged in Shantotto's hands, and the grin on her face became sadistic. The pit in Barbara's stomache widened into a damn valley, and she finally understood what it was.
"To understand this energy, I need a test subject you see,
And you will have to do, so do sit down and surrender immediately."
She floated into the air magical elements surrounding her as the little Tarutaru turned into what looked like an elemental nightmare. "B-But!! You said you wadn't gonna fight tus!!"
"Indeed I did say that, how full of great tragedy to tell me I ought.
However saying what's next is a fight, would earn a laugh and an 'IT'S NOT.'"
This was proven with a powerful fire spell which blasted outward.

Leviathan could feel the buildup of magic as Shantotto was charging. "M'lady!" "Right!" Squigly dove to the side, grabbing Leviathan's tail. "Get over here!"
She launched the tail to Barbara to pull her to safety, the zombie girl quickly rising to her feet. "I apologize in advance..." "I don't!"
Squigly went into her normal stance, watching the little woman carefully.

Ah~. So the zombie girl was going to take Shantotto on directly. How amusing~. The Tarutaru woman grinned as the elements continued to envelop her.
"You are either quite brave or quite stupid to take the offense,
Soon those who know you will refer to you in the PAST TENSE!"
She released her magical power in all directions, the ice freezing floor, electrifying certain parts of it like energy based explosive mines. The haughty laugh soon followed as Shantotto pulled out her staff ready for a full on confrontation.
"Let us begin this, not make it any more plain,
after all, it's not for nothing called a REIGN OF PAIN~.
Off you go!
To the glow!"
Squigly and Leviathan wasn't sure what to make of this at first-
THEN THE STAFF FLEW THROUGH THE AIR LIKE AN ULTRA FAST SPINNING BOOMERANG, sending them flying up to the window where the moon shown down on the room within, the only other light aside from the candles and the electricity now crackling throughout the room. "HOOOOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO~!"

"They already do. I did die, you know."
...And then it hit. Barely able to evade the electrical surge going across the floor, the spinning staff knocked the pair skyward, with Leviathan latching onto one of the upper beams of the church, allowing Squigly to swing away, the pair attempting to get their bearings back.
"...This isn't good."
"Quite."
"She's so powerful... Still, we fought powerful foes before. Let's go, Leviathan!"
"I'm with you!"
Squigly took Leviathan's tail into her hand, spinning it around... then tossed it downward, through the floor of the church. "Serpentine!"
The bladed point seemed to stretch outward, almost jumping through the floor, aiming at the Tarutaru woman from below.

CRAAAASHINK!!! "Hoho~!" Shantotto's dodging movement was almost akin to floating as she swayed away from the attack with incredible ease. All a grin on her face, Shantotto leered up at the zombie and parasite as she casually froze Leviathan's tail to the floor in response. With more haughty laughter, the Tarutaru charged up more magic and fired out energy blasts forcing the zombie and parasite to drop from the ceiling. From the nearby wall, Barbara watched in wide-eyed agape as the fight continued, axe implanted in the wall to keep her off the floor. "HEY!! LOOK EWT!!" The second Squigly landed, she had to dodge aside as Shantotto launched out a powerful wind spell. When it blasted past her and slammed the wall, it caved back at the sheer force of the blow making a small crater. "Up a creek without a paddle, In the water to be so addle~. You young ones have power galore, and yet none exists to even the score~." Shantotto laughed as she approached, charging up a spell as the zombie tried to pry her parasite loose of the ice. "You will be here to answer all of my questions, So sorry, but I'm not up for your complaints or suggestions~. HOHOHOHOHOHOHO~!!!!" "HEY!!! TINY!!" Shantotto tuned to find Barbara quickly skating across the ice and jumping over the clump of ice keeping Leviathan's tail stuck. "YAH!!!!" ONLY TO GROUND POUND DOWN HARD, breaking the ice with ease and freeing Leviathan's tail. The tail attempted to circle around for another go, but Shantotto jumped it with a backflip. "Ah-hah! The second player from before, such an impetuous little pest! Now you shall see what happens when you mess with the absolute best! QUAKE!!" She fired the spell at the ground, causing the earth beneath Barbara and Squiggly's feet to quake. "  WHAT THE-?" An earth pillar SHOT OUT OF THE GROUND WITH BARBARA BEING CAUGHT ALONG FOR THE RIDE. "AAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!" The intense speed of such allowed her to roll out of the way just SHORT of being flattened against the ceiling. |

"Ghhk?!" Squigly's eyes widened as Leviathan's tail was frozen solid, but when Barbara freed her, the zombie girl resumed her attack. Thankfully, the warrior girl was able to evade being crushed, which allowed Squigly to resume her offensive.
"Normal attacks won't work..." Fortunately, what had happened had built up quite a bit of Dramatic Tension, and Squigly felt the energy surge through her. First, she took a different stance, Leviathan's maw glowing with his flames... then she called up her Center Stage technique, Barbara and Shantotto both seeming to be pulled to her as even the area itself focused on the singer. Then, she continued with her Squigly Battle Opera.
"Aaaahhhh~!" Both she and Leviathan sang out as a solid orb of sound hovered in the air in front of her; she hoped she could catch the small woman off-guard with her attack.

Shantotto had bounced away from another attack by Barbara, but soon found herself seemingly getting narrowed into focus. " " She looked to see Squiggly seemingly singing Opera... It was like the room was steadily getting smaller, as some unknown perspective focused on her. As it did, it forced Barbara and herself closer and closer to the singer. It was a pretty impressive magic actually... Still, it was only one part of a combo, she could tell that much from the approach. It looked like her dragon partner was preparing for any counter attack she tossed at them. "Whut the-?? Whooooa-!!!" As they were pushed closer, Barbara was also caught in the spell. "Whoa whoa wait whut's going awn- " |

It was something of a basic combination, but damn if it wasn't effective. For the followup, Squigly took Leviathan's tail in her hand again, whirling it around.
"Silver Chord!" "Come here!"
The zombie girl launched the dragon's tail out again, a 'claw' of sorts attempting to grab Shantotto and pull her into the orb of sound, where they knew they could follow up with a longer combination of strikes.

Shantotto saw the tail coming and was quick to react-
BY GRABBING BARBARA. "WAIT WHUT'RE YOU-" AND THEN YANKING THE BARBARIAN IN FRONT OF HER SO THE TAIL WOULD GRAB HER INSTEAD. "OW!! WH-WHAT THE ECK-HAY-?!?!?" Shantotto giggled to herself as she remained just outside of the tail's reach. This girl was good, she had to give her that, but this wasn't going to be enough to stop her.

"Hhrk!" Squigly's eyes widened as Barbara was thrown in front of her path. As she was pulled closer... Leviathan pulled his tail upward to keep the warrior princess from getting dragged into the orb of sound. "Gah, I'm sorry!"
The dragon growled slightly. "Hhh... I believe we're quite out of our league here, milady..."

Shantotto was quick to close the distance, sliding under the sound bubble. "Hmhm~~!" A powerful wind spell blasted Squigly and Leviathan clean upward. With a tittering laughter that one could qualify as haughty, Shantotto followed up by casting another spell, catching Squigly and Leviathan in an orb of purple energy that seemed to freeze them up in mid-air. The bind spell bound the two's bodies, forcing them still.
"Ohohohohoho~! How very amusing, how droll!
And with this, you are this much closer to completing your role~.
With your powers in my hand, I have new research akin,
to the evil energy that I once felt way back when~."
? What-?
"But oh, no more need to delay, let's let it begin~!!
FI-"
BAM!!! Shantotto was suckerpunched aside by Barbara's axe smacking her away. When Shantotto recovered, she had to backflip away from another attack, followed by another as Barbara continued buffeting the tiny tarutaru mage with spinning axe swats. "Hahahaha~!!! Yer not gettin' away from me~!! WHOOHOO~!!!"
"Back off little brat!!
Else you go splat!!!"
Barbara dodged a powerful fire spell with a hearty jump then slammed down near the mage as she dodged back quickly. Shantotto followed up with lightning spells, but a sound rolling dodge and tossing up her helmet allowed her to dodge soundly, the iron helmet catching the lightning bursts.

Squigly dove to the ground as well at the lightning, grunting... she could feel her stamina draining away as they finally broke the Bind spell.
"Hhh... Lev, we may have no choice..."
"...But to use the 'Forbidden Technique?' It's a risk, certainly. But... I think we can. I just hope that Barbara can buy us enough time..."
Squigly nodded, feeling her Parasite squeeze her gently. They began gathering energy in the form of Dramatic Tension, preparing...
