For a while, Jack didn't respond. There was something very unusual about this key; anyone could tell that at a passing glance. Its teeth were shaped much like those of an ordinary skeleton key, but seemed to shine with an almost ethereal glow. It was adorned very oddly too, though that could've easily been chalked up to decoration, but he still was not convinced. There was more to this key than he was being led to believe, he just knew it. For now, though, no harm in playing along.
"How sentimental. I'll keep it in mind. For Evan's generosity, I will repay in kind."
Yeah, "generosity," says the thing that jumped in my mouth and claimed my body for himself, Evan hissed. At least Beth is thinking of me. But he knows. He has to know. If not, he'll figure it out soon enough...
After slipping the key around his neck and the sunglasses over his eyes, Jack stepped out of the bathroom and into the living room, feeling refreshed and upbeat.
"That was just what I needed, a cleanse and new flair. And might I say something smells lovely in there."

"Food is ready. Though I don't know how Evan's form will take it. I have a feeling he ate raw flesh at one point...." she uttered slightly as she brought a plate to him with the potato skins perched on top. "So what is it like? Possessing a person?" Beth floated slightly as she drew close to Jack.

Jack wasn't sure how to respond to the prospect of the blood he had washed off resulting from acts of carnivorous predation. It would explain a lot, to be fair, and in all seriousness, he had seen more disturbing events in his time. He had forced Evan to swallow him, after all. Evan, on the other hand, was certain that the idea would leave his stomach churning if he had control over his own bodily functions.
In response to Beth's question, Jack humbly accepted a potato skin and elaborated...
"I find it preferable over surviving alone. It's rather unimpressive, the form truly my own. The initial possession brings mutual pain, As I must navigate to the conscious host's brain.
"But once I'm wired into the hindbrain and spinal cord, The host's thoughts and actions can be fully ignored As though they were never there and the body is mine, And the freedom I feel is hard to define."

"You know. I can get the stains out of his old clothes for when November rolls around," Beth offered as she took one of the skins as well. "I'm certain you've and your host, even if he can't make contact, have noticed things off about me."

"It has crossed my mind, I will not deny, But in all fairness, I'm also a strange guy. If this form is an altered one, I swear I never knew. So given my naivety, tell me about you."
Yeah, like he's willingly going to give me back control once this all blows over... Evan sighed, seriously doubting such a prospect.

"I am the Siren of Blood. A title I alone bear as a mini-god.... My aspect can either bring armies together or tear the closest of friends apart at the seams. I can also use my own blood as a crystalized weapon. Ray Rooke saw that against a Prae'natos General before he was taken out of play by Van," Beth began as she danced about slightly. "With 12 of my friends from a site.... we destroyed my home world's universe. I can't go back or wash my own hands of the blood of countless innocent lives." She paused briefly. Beth knew that she hadn't told anyone that part. What once was a bright face was quickly falling to a dark and solemn one. She half expected Jack to attack her then and there.

Ray... Van... She was with Patrick?! Evan's thoughts were running a mile a minute. The Generals... Of course they'd take advantage of this darkness. And what's this curse done to Patrick and his other selves?
Jack mulled over Beth's story as he sat down, tapped a finger against his knee, and completely ignored the potato skin he had yet to take a bite out of. Was he shocked by anything Beth told him? No, not really. He was actually very unrealistically calm about all of it.
"I see... One of few survivors. A tragic fate. No need to fear. I feel no hate. Such knowledge and power's a harsh burden to bear, But even if you can't repent, it doesn't mean you don't care."
He leaned back in his seat, making a steeple his fingers and casting his gaze to the floor from behind those tinted glasses.
"Still, I can't help but ponder the irony. If anything, I would think that you should hate me."
Yeah, no kidding...

"You took over a person's body for survival. You haven't tried to kill me.... Trust me death isn't fun..... I see you as an ally right now. If that makes any sense," Beth pointed out.

Oh, for the love of...
Jack looked up at Beth and tilted his head. Then he shrugged and finally ate his potato skin, swallowing before speaking up again.
"Well, you understand. That's more than I can say for some. Though perhaps my imprisonment has left me numb. If you saw me in action, to be perfectly clear, Your opinion of me would be different, I fear."

Beth sighed and nodded. "Fair. Now eat up so we as a pair can paint this town with a little bit more of a scare," she offered with a smile.

Jack exchanged the smile and nod as he plucked up another potato skin.
"Ah, now there's an encouraging prospect. Tonight will be an interesting one, I suspect."
Yeah, and someone is gonna get rekt, Evan half-heartedly played along. Oh God dang it...

Beth happily smiled as she danced. The siren opened her mouth to sing.

Beth's choice of song got Jack all the more excited. He smiled with absolute glee as he listened, and by the time she got to the second verse, he had to stand up on his chair, perfectly balanced with one foot on the seat and one foot on the back, and join in.
"It's better to burn than to fade away It's better to leave than to be replaced I'm losing to you, baby, I'm no match I'm going numb, I've been hijacked It's a f***ing drag
"I taste you on my lips and I can't get rid of you So I say damn your kiss and the awful things you do Yeah, you're worse than nicotine, nicotine Yeah, you're worse than nicotine, nicotine, yeah..."
As this went on, Evan was filled with a mixture of emotions, all of which were absolutely devastating. Perhaps the most powerful feeling coursing through his psyche was that of isolation, as if it had finally occurred to him that, even though he was right there, lingering within his own mind, he might as well have been nonexistent. Clearly he would receive no support from Beth. Clearly this body really was no longer his.
Evan really did feel like he was gone.
Can't... fade... can't... die... like this...

'Evan I know you're in there.... and that was a poor choice of song....' she thought before chuckling at Jack's actions. Her mental gears kept turning before she grinned. 'I hope he gets this one.'
As the Panic! At The Disco song faded, she started into a more monotoned song.

Jack simply listened as Beth began another song, casually tilting the chair back and sliding off so he could begin a slow dance. When his back was to Beth, Evan felt a smirk creep across his face. It was clear that Jack understood what she was implying with this tune, but still his confidence did not waver.
Evan, though...
NO... Okay... Relax. You're still here. Jack can't stay in here forever. And when he's gone, I'll be free again...
...Oh. Oh, yeah. There's that.
Suddenly, waiting for November to roll around sounded ideal.
