Beth's hand quickly smacked Patrick in the back of the head. "Really you're going to interrupt someone while talking?" Beth noted. If this had been an anime there would have been an angered vein mark on the siren's forehead.

"Ooh. Someone's mad," Mickey laughed.
"Want me to knock some sense into 'im?!" Cat excitedly offered, raising Goldenhand with intent to smack.

Patrick was promptly taken aback by Beth's scoldings, rubbing the sore spot on his neck and shooting her a flabbergasted look. "B... B-B-But he's possessing my best friend! How are we supposed to know Evan isn't freaking the frig out in there?!"
YES! Thank you, Patrick! Evan screamed internally.
"Don't you think someone, anyone controlling your body against your will would be terrifying? I mean, it's not for me; for me, that's just Thursday. B-But...!"
Jack didn't speak as Patrick attempted to justify himself. It was impossible to tell from his stoic expression, but Patrick's comeuppance brought him nothing but joy.

"Evan was a stained in blood and reeked of death when Jack found him. I think this is an improvement. The curse breaks in November," Beth replied coldly. Her mind's gears started turning. Her hands seemed to signal the monsterous band that had gathered as her voice rang out.

Once again, Cat and Mickey's enthusiasm skyrocketed when the new song began. As Beth sang, Cat bounced around on the buildings' awnings, leaping over the street several times and showering the crowd in sparkling bursts of Pandemonium energy-based fireworks. Mickey kept to the shadows, creeping around like a ghost... or rather, like a rock star in a music video playing a ghost at his own funeral. Cat even went so far as to confront Mickey, knock him down with her oversized flyswatter, and leap back onto the rooftops in a single, explosive bound. "WHOO!"

Patrick could only watch this performance with sadness, finding himself genuinely shocked that Evan's feelings weren't being taken into account. "But... No... Evan wouldn't... You can't just leave him to..."
He was stopped when the handle of Jack's walking stick tapped against his shoulder. Jack circled around to face him, shooting Patrick a smug, victorious grin.
"Say what you mean, tell me I'm right And let the sun rain down on me Give me a sign, I want to believe"
Satisfied by the mortified expression on Patrick's face, Jack elevated himself above the crowd and spun around in a whirlwind of flames, then stopped, pointed at Beth and used his cane as a microphone as he continued to sing along.
"Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, Mona Lisa! You're guaranteed to run this town! Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, Mona Lisa! I'd pay to see you frown!"
Stunned silent, Patrick observed, unable to think up a logical course of action other than a slow, baffled head shake. As he found himself drawing a blank, his two other selves made their opinions known.
You're not wrong, Patrick, Van professed. I'm worried about Evan too. I'd hate to leave him at the mercy of this Jack character without knowing the full story.
Whadya need the full story for? This guy's a creep! Ray retorted. It's like you said, Pat. We're three parts of the same guy, but him?! He just went and absconded Evan's body for his own gain! See that, Van? I even used a big fancy word for ya!
The more he listened to Ray's rant, not to mention Beth's highly emotional musical number, the angrier Patrick found himself becoming.
Evan's trapped in there. Why should we trust this fancy-pants, Edgar Allen Seuss mofo?
Okay, let's not jump to any irrational conclusions here, Van calmly insisted.
This whole situation's irrational enough already! Ray shouted. Let me take him, Pat. Someone's gotta put this parasite in his place.
An unpleasant grin was growing on the teen mage's face.

"Patrick. Don't even think about it," warned Beth. "You hurt Jack. And you'll wind up injuring Evan," the siren whispered loud enough for the teenage mage to hear.
Todd nodded. "Mister Jack. I wouldn't suggest taunting that mage. He's more than he seems," Todd noted as he perched on a hydrant.

Blissfully ignorant to the conflict going on around them, Cat and Mickey ceased their bouncing around and confronted each other on the sidewalk. Mickey leaned down to meet Cat's eye level, and the two stared at each other inquisitively. Softly, eerily, the vampire crooned...
"Mona Lisa..."
Slowly, somehow without moving the rest of her body, Cat raised the arm that held Goldenhand. Then, in one rapid motion, she swung it down, smacking Mickey over the head and driving him into the pavement like a hammer to a nail.

Ohhhhhhh crap, that's a good point...
Patrick had intended to say that and not just think it, but he was far too late, having already surrendered his body to the one most willing to act upon their anger.
Ray, stop! Van attempted to reason with him. This isn't going to solve anything! If we could maybe talk to him-!
"I'm sick of hearing this guy talk," Ray muttered back. "His stupid rhymes make me wanna tear his larynx out." A red arcane circle was forming beneath his feet.
Uh, Ray, maybe Van's got a point... Patrick awkwardly insisted. You know, the power of words and-
"Power of words, huh? You want powerful words?! I got some powerful words!! F*** YOU!!!"
The Plaza shook as a tremendous wave of pure magic burst from Ray's small form. Everyone in the red mist's destructive path was suddenly afflicted with searing pain, the strongest of which was focused on Jack. Amidst the monstrous howls and shrieks of agony, he could only emit a strangled squeak. Sickly red marks snaked along his face -and quite possibly the rest of his body covered by his suit- pulsating like veins but with the resemblance of open wounds. Overcome by the intense anguish, Jack lost his balance, fell out of the sky and plummeted into the street.

Beth and Todd jumped back and hovered. Both went to rescue Jack/Evan.
Yang watched from her spot on a light post.

"ACK-!"
"Whoa whoa whoa HEY!"
Cat and Mickey hastily dove out of the way of Ray's blast of necromancy magic, both coming out relatively unscathed and righteously ticked off.

As the red energy approached the two anthros, their missing party member appeared before them, throwing up a bright blue shield that negated the effects of Ray's spell. Rio scowled at the teenager from behind his barrier. "A fellow arcane mage. And one of ill temperament at that."
Jack kept still for a moment, sprawled out in very real, very crippling pain. Evan was in a panic, registering the damage done to his body just as easily as his controller. No, no, dang it, Ray! You're gonna kill us... can't die... mUsT LIVE!
Ray stormed up to his fallen foe-possessed-friend. "You like that, you aristocratic piece of s***? Don't have much use for a body that doesn't work, huh?!"
WHAT?!
Ray, don't even THINK about hurting Evan! There has to be another way!
Jack hissed through gritted teeth, using his cane for support as he wobbled onto his feet.
"Insolent brat... necromancer of myth... You have no idea... WHO YOU'RE F***ING WITH!"
Jack stood tall and faced Ray, blazing with righteous fury, as an aura of pure fire ignited around him.

The siren and vampire both heavily gulped. The twin blood wielding mini-gods looked to each other before zipping away.

"Hey, Rio!" Cat cheered. "You did something that totally wasn't a buzzkill!"
"Hm. No necklace," Mickey noted. "Loving the dialect, buddy. Now if you'll excuse me, things seem to have escalated quickly." The raccoon slipped away from the scene, apparently to converse with some monsters before perching atop a building.
"Yep. I'mma do that too." Cat followed suit, generating a blast of Pandemonium energy strong enough to propel her onto a building on the opposite side of the street as Mickey.
A new song was brewing. Yes, it was another Panic! at the Disco song, but that just seemed to be the theme that night.

"BRING IT ON, YOU FEDORA-WEARING FREAK!" Ray swung his arm, throwing another necromancy spell directly at Jack.
Jack charged directly at him, leaping over the red arcane energy and dropping back down with intent to kick Ray. The mage easily sidestepped him, but didn't make it far enough to avoid Jack's follow-up move of swinging his cane at him, which connected with Ray's head with a satisfying smack. Once he was thrown off balance, Jack quickly pressed his cane against Ray's neck and pushed him back into the nearest building with enough strength to leave a human-shaped imprint in the wall.
Acting quickly through the pain, Ray smacked his hand against Jack's forehead, knocking him back with a blast of pink light. After stumbling back a few steps, Jack went rigid, shocked to discover how difficult it had become to move. Ray grinned maliciously and, with the hand still raised and still illuminated in pink, pointed to a nearby streetlamp. His wordless command forced Jack to clumsily stager over to it and throw himself head-first into the metal post.
"Yeah, let's see how you like it," Ray chuckled as he repeatedly compelled Jack to throw himself against any surrounding structure.
Based on his expression, Jack was only getting angrier. The spell seemed to have somehow calmed Evan down, though.
"An enchanter as well? My, what a shame. For you, not for me. Two can play that game!"
Though he struggled against Ray's bind on him, Jack managed to raise a gloved hand and place the same exact spell on his opponent, locking them in a brief stalemate. Both tried to fight against the hold they had on each other and drive their foe to harm himself, eventually culminating into them simultaneously throwing each other a great distance down the street in opposite directions. The mutual bind was broken as they came to a screeching halt.
