The graveyard... a familiar –if somewhat cliché– location for any scary story. Already drenched in the smell of death and decay, the Void City cemetery held a particularly haunting atmosphere under the island curse's effects. The rotten corpses buried in the fields clawed their way to the surface and aimlessly hobbled about. Every shadow seemed to writhe as strange creatures hid within them. One could almost sense the spirits of those passed still lingering amongst the bodies they left behind. The crisp air was thick with a chilling orchestra of moans, hisses and whispering voices.
It was here, just outside the gated acres that separated the living from the dead, where a portal open up. From out of this portal came Patrick, Ace and Evan, who toppled haphazardly into a pile in the grass. Evan was the first to scramble back onto his hands and feet, twitching and scuttling about as he frantically observed his new surroundings and watched the portal seal itself shut.
As his feral companion darted around him, Patrick looked up and took note of their new location, frowning at the sight. Truth be told, in his efforts to ensure that he, his friend and his lover escaped the previous scene intact, he hadn't really taken into account where his portal would dump them out, and this was probably one of the last places he would want to be in this chaos. In his experience, cemeteries always seemed to attract bad things.
Nonetheless, there were more important things to worry about...
"Ace...!" Patrick rolled his beloved fallen angel onto her back, quickly surveying the damage she had acquired during their scuffle with Dio. "Ace, babe, please tell me you're alright!"

Ace groaned weakly, keeping her eyes shut tight. Despite the brutal combat she had just endured, she was in relatively little pain, her biggest complaint being a mild headache. One wouldn't suspect this to be the case, given her near-mutilated physical appearance.
Much of her tight, striped shirt had been ripped, her exposed arms scratched and bruised, and when Patrick turned her over, her hat fell off, letting her frizzled hair spring free into a tangled web of ebony thread. Most of the skin on the left side of her face had been torn away, revealing a new layer of skin underneath, skin that was black, leathery, and seemed to cling tightly to the bone beneath to match the shape of her skull. Likewise, the horn that had been slowly growing from her left temple had reached its full size, curling upward beyond the top of her head, while the right horn had reached about half that length. Her mouth hung open as she panted, revealing a fang in the upper left corner. And her wings... the black feathers had almost been entirely shed, with only a few frayed patches still persistently clinging to the bony, hooked, bat-like appendages.
She limply raised an arm, feeling around until she had a firm grip on Patrick's hand, as if she was desperately trying to cling to some form of humanity. "No... Patrick... I'm not alright..." she choked up, tears squeezing out from between her closed eyelids. "Do I look alright to you?!"

A portal opened above the cemetery, causing a blonde-haired human in what appeared to be a mummy costume to fall out with a "WHEEEEEEEEEE" before crashing to the ground. A soft, still-chipper "Ow" followed her landing.
A thick black fog surrounded the girl, who felt the bandages of her costume fuse with her skin, and her skin go dry... But she didn't care much for what had just happened. The fog dissipated around her, leaving Madison in her costume... no, she had become the Mummy.
Well, sorta.
"Hello there Mister Bug~!"
Yep, Madison was still Madison, who continued to frolic as if nothing had happened, like she had not just been turned into a replica of the classic movie monster and dropped into a new world.
"Yes, I love you too Mister Butter- AT LAST I'M FREE! TIME TO CONQUER THE WORLD!- fly~!"
Well, mostly normal. She didn't seem to notice that she had just said it was time to conquer the world.

Patrick gulped, shaking as he looked Ace over. Just moments before, in the battle against Dio, Ace had gone totally berserk, driven by a grim bloodlust that Patrick and his two other selves could only assume had accelerated her transformation. The fact that she had come to her senses was relieving enough, but her increasingly demonic appearance was no less unnerving, nor was the fact that she had given into these malicious instincts at all and could potentially give into them again.
He couldn't let himself think that, though. He had to ensure that Ace was well again.
"I-It's okay... You don't look that bad..." Patrick meekly stuttered. "H-Here, lemme..." Purple energy lit up in his palms as he placed his hands on Ace, showering her in a healing spell.
All the while, Evan sniffed around the cemetery, making sure to keep Patrick in his sights. He didn't like the look of this place, and if there was anything around here as dangerous as that vampire, he had to ensure his master stayed safe. At the first sign of activity, Evan turned his attention to what appeared to be a human female wrapped in bandages, promptly growling a warning to her.

Unfortunately, while any wounds she had acquired on her new skin were healed by Patrick's touch, the shredded, decaying remains of her angel skin were unaffected. She twitched as she felt the magic flow through her, and even though the pain was slowly ebbing, she didn't need to look to know that it was no use.
"Patrick... you... you can't heal what's already dead," Ace sighed with defeat. "It's only a shell... an old skin to be molted... to give way to the new creature growing inside."
Finally, Ace opened her eyes, both of which were now pitch black. Glassy, cold, like the piercing eyes of a shark. Her eyebrows arch sadly, but those black orbs stared emotionlessly into the void.
"It's too late to save me, Patrick."

"Lalala- Oh, what have we here~?"
The mummy girl disregarded Evan's growl and frolicked over to the group in a ballerina-like manner, having no idea as to what had happened earlier. "Lalala~ Good day Mr. Growly~" she chirped, petting Evan on the head. Surely, any bystander would have found this whole scene absurd... but then again, there wasn't anyone to see this.
It was then that she saw Ace. She had somehow missed the signs that Ace was transforming... "Well hello there~! My name's- IMHOTEP, AND I SHALL DEVOUR YOUR SOULS- Madison Spaghettini Papadopolous, what're y'all's?"
Madison was completely unaware of her spouting omnious lines.

Evan snarled louder at Madison's touch and snapped at her, just missing biting her hand as she pranced away. He did catch a whiff of her dry, dead skin, subsequently coughing and hacking like he had just inhaled a mouthful of sand.
Patrick kept at it for a while until it became painfully obvious that his healing spell wasn't doing anything for Ace. With no other options, he rested her head in his lap, gently stroking her untamed hair. "No... N-No, don't say that. You're still you. You'll be fine..."
He didn't even notice Madison until she suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs. The fact that she just as suddenly shifted to a more cheery demeanor didn't particularly quell any of Patrick's fears, as he simply pulled Ace closer to him and stared nervously at the young mummy. "P-Please... We don't want any trouble..."

It was safe to say that Ace had all but completely gone numb to her surroundings. She simply laid still in Patrick's embrace, hopeful that if she shut the world out, she couldn't hurt anyone or anything in it.
No matter what Patrick said, Ace was convinced that she was not alright.

The blonde mummy tilted her head to the side in confusion, the vacant smile still present through the bandages. "Trouble? What're you talkin' about silly~? I dunno what y'all are talkin' about!"
Madison then regarded Ace. "Is she- BRING ME THE SOULS OF THE DAMNED- okay~?"

Patrick stared at the mummy with an awkward expression properly accompanied by an anime sweat drop. He wanted to believe that she meant them no harm, despite her particularly worrisome mood swings.
In his typical defensive manner, Evan dashed over to them, rooting himself between Patrick and Madison. He snarled viciously at the mummy, fangs bared, threatening to use them if she got any closer to his master.
"Evan, no," Patrick murmured lowly but firmly. "Stand down."
The vlyk-minded man complied, silencing himself and moving to sit by Patrick's side, though he kept a sharp eye on Madison just in case.
Shakily, Patrick continued, "Sh-She's alright... Just a little shook up. We just got away from a pretty nasty fight and... well... she's been going through some... changes."

"Changes?!" Ace repeated, sitting up and turning away from her boyfriend. "Patrick, let's be honest with ourselves and admit that this was a terrible idea! The longer I stay out here, the worse I'll get! I'm already enough of a monster as it is, but... but what if I lose control again? What if I hurt someone? What if I hurt... you...?"
She gingerly touched the leathery skin hiding beneath the dead shell of her former self. "I can't... I don't want... to lose..."

"A fight? With who? Who won?" Madison inquired, still not quite comprehending the gravity of the situation. She reached out a bandaged hand and stroked Ace's hand, the feeling of leathery against dried an odd sensation.
"You're not- GIVE ME YOUR SOUL- gonna lose~! C'mon! You can do it!"

"He was some kinda vampire with... pretty insane powers. I... don't know if we ever caught his name. Or... if we did, I just don't remember it," Patrick answered, looking between Evan and the girls. "We fought him until we all just got sick of fighting, then Ace and I escaped here."
Evan flinched once and shifted his focus to a particularly shadowy area beneath the cemetery gates. He thought he saw something...
"Ace, it'll be alright," Patrick gently insisted. "What you look like doesn't matter. As long as we stay out of trouble, you won't hurt anyone. And I know that you'd never hurt me..."

"What's stopping me?" Ace murmured, her tone devoid of emotion. "If this transformation progresses any further, how do we know my angel intellect won't crumble away along with my body? What if I can't stop myself next time?"
She cast a quick glance at Madison. The mummy's frequent shifts between perky optimism and unholy wrath was... weird, to put it bluntly. Ace was just worried that she might start experiencing the same thing.

"Gasp! Want to know what I do when I feel down like this~?" Madison stated... before proceeding to...
... Pull a pink violin and bow out of... hammerspace apparently. She brought the instrument to her neck and raised the bow.
"I take out my violin and I- DESTROY THE LIVING AND CONSUME THE DEAD- fiddle-de-de!"
With that, she proceeded to play a tune on the instrument.
