It had been a simple matter picking up Undyne and Papyrus and flying them towards their goal point. Being the core of the Fog of Fright Island, it surprised Erin very little to find the fog very thick in the area just up ahead. As such, Erin landed them just outside of the ghost town to let them take it all in. No matter which way Undyne looked at that fog, it just made her feel more and more uncomfortable with each passing second. Like just LOOKING at it was trying to DO SOMETHING TO HER. "... We gotta go in there right?" She said, keeping a tough tone up.
Erin nodded as she crossed her arms, tapping her foot as if deep in thought... A moment later she turned to the two monsters and gave them a very straight look.
"Before we go in there, tell me." There was no joke in her tone, she was all business. "Has the fog... Affected you guys in some way? Any way at all?"
She said that... But as Undyne thought about it, she suddenly remembered that the fog CAUSED Erin to turn into that... Monstrosity... It also allowed her to take on her determination for-
No wait...
That wasn't what the fog did to her....

"......." Undyne let out a sigh... "It... The fog showed me... Visions of something I couldn't quite explain... Papyrus had died and I was furious at-" She notices Papyrus look uneasy... Had he perhaps seen it too-? Oh god.... "At someone for causing the death."

Erin looked exceedingly pale.
"Oh fuck... OH FUCK..."
"What do you know what's wrong-?"
"Look... I'm going to get real with you guys. If you're going to go in with me, you should... Prepare yourselves for the worst. And... I mean the ABSOLUTE worst. That fog is likely going to show you MORE of these visions... But no matter what happens, you have to remind yourselves that none of it is real. Okay? None of it is real."

Erin could feed that lie to Papyrus all she wanted... Undyne was not as convinced. In her vision, she could FEEL herself melting. She could FEEL the knife. All of it felt REAL. Too Real. So real that it COULDN'T have been an illusion. "....."

"OH GOODY, JUST AN ILLUSION!" Papyrus cheered. "I WAS NEVER A FAN OF PARLOR TRICKS, HONESTLY. NOT AS WONDERFUL AS A GOOD OLD FASHIONED PUZZLE! AND SPEAKING OF WHICH, DO YOU THINK WE MIGHT FIND ANY PUZZLES-"

Undyne was quick to shush Papyrus, adjusting the jacket and jeans that Erin had loaned her previous to their arrival. She magicked up a spear and held it aloft. "So what exactly are we going in there to do? How are we getting rid of this fog?" Undyne was narrowed and focused. It seemed she realized that the only way these odd 'illusions' were going to go away was if they got rid of the fog... Still... It didn't shake the uneasy feeling she had.
Erin looked down at the epicenter of the fog...
Seeing the fog billowing and writhing fills you with DETERMINATION.
"There are two things we're going to need if we want to stop this fog. The first is a young woman. A witch. Specifically the witch that caused this and is doing everything she can to reverse it... Along with that, we need to find the center of the fog and defeat it's core."]

"A WITCH?" Papyrus asked. On his world, magic users- Monsters, entirely- were everywhere. Everyone had use for a magical bullet pattern, few didn't. But no-one Papyrus immediately knew could be referred to as a 'Witch.'
As such, he had no real idea what one was.
"....... PLEASE DEFINE?"

"Well you see-"
"Oh! I can answer this one~!" Undyne said suddenly, shooting her hand up into the air quickly. Erin just chuckled at the energetic response and let Undyne have the floor. "A Witch is a female human that's capable of using magic! I know this because plenty of Alphys' anime features them. Like there was this one where there was something called 'Witchlings', which Alphys said they were called cause they were little kids-? I dunno. But really, I don't get why their called witches. Princesses can use magic too-."
Erin just pat Undyne on the head, reaching up to do so since she was a bit shorter. "Basically, just be on the look out for a woman dressed in dark clothing with blonde hair." ..... She actually grins after a moment. "Also, Undyne, you're actually not too far off the mark. This girl is supposed to be the Witch Princess."
"HAHA! YES! I SHOULD'VE KNOWN! She must be really powerful if she's both a Princess AND a witch!"
Erin snickered to herself as she turned to the fog.
"Okay you two. Let's do this."
She jumped down and slid down the muddy hill. Undyne grinned and quickly followed, quickly getting mud all over her bare-feet.

"OH, SO THE WITCH IS A BABY THING?" Papyrus asked. Despite living near Alphys and Undyne, Papyrus was... still far from accepting anime as anything but child's cartoons.

Erin gave Papyrus a weird look as he followed behind them. "Hey! Don't diss! Anime is totally real Papyrus! Even more now then ever! I mean just look at Erin here! She's practically a super hero!" Undyne grinned as they reached the bottom and traveled into the mist....

The fog was so thick neither of the three party members could see an inch in front of their faces... They could hear whispering in the void, voices unfamiliar and familiar all whispering dark things in languages no-one could understand... Erin recognized the voice of the Horrorterrors amongst teh sortie... "Ugh... It's like being in the climax of a horror movie...."
Erin had to agree... They could literally be walking into a magma stream and they wouldn't know it...
There came a sudden laugh.
The three looked to find nothing... "Weird..." She looks to the others. "Oh well... That could have been a lot worse. Let's just keep movi-" She turned back-. HOLY SHIT THERE WAS A CHILD STANDING WHERE THERE HAD BEEN NONE SECONDS EARLIER. "HOLY SHIT!!!!!"
...............
That green striped shirt.... That familiar blank expression...
"..... ? What-?"
The child rushed into the fog.

............. THAT WAS IT. UNDYNE WAS OFFICIALLY HORRIFIED BEYOND THE CAPACITY FOR RATIONAL THOUGHT. Seeing the vision of... Of THAT Frisk had been terrifying enough. Seeing him standing there. Just as real as anything else-. "Hey hey hey! Eyes on me you two. Eyes on me." She forcibly turns the two's heads to face her. "Remember what we talked about... Nothing in here is real. The fog is trying to scare you."SOMETHING... RESPONDED TO THIS... There was a childish laughter somewhere in the fog, a laugh that sounded sadistic, blood thirsty. "Eyes on me now. Just keep close to me. I don't care what we DO find in here. You have me here, and I WILL protect you. Okay?" ...... Undyne nodded. She was probably the more durable of the three present.... "Now, let's focus... We need to find the Witch Princess alright? She has to be around here somewhere." She looked around with that said... Now they just needed a way to see through the fog... If they could find her- "You're not going to find your friend the Witch Princess here Thiefy~.".......  ?? "Oh don't you worry about anything. She's okay. She just... Ran away when it became too troublesome to look after her old shack~. It's pretty ramshackle... But hey. It's comfy." |

Papyrus shook to the point of rattling. He was not a fan of these creepy shenanigans. "I GET THE FEELING WE SHOULD PROBABLY MAKE THE FOG GO AWAY NOW," he whimpered, pulling free a bone.

Yeah, you definitely did a LOT of dying the last time I saw you~. Breathing your last, melting into a fucking puddle~? I'll say this much. I'm.... SO looking forward to the chance again. You two alone would be worth a lot of Execution points~. But you-..." The thief could feel something's eyes on her. "You especially intrigue me. You are something... FAR MIGHTIER then little baby skull and miss PRETENDER~. I might have fun with this."
Erin growled and gritted her teeth. "SPEAK SENSE!! WHO ARE YOU!?!?"

The fog started thinning out again.
"I think you already know very well who I am~."

The Witch Princess' shack was before the group, and it truly was in ruins. In the middle, a cast iron kettle was left abandoned, ruined ingredients spread about the ground, practically poisoning the soil...

From the debris, something appeared...
A child...
A child dressed in a green stripped shirt... One that would've looked completely innocent, lost in the chaos... But...
THOSE... THOSE EYES...
THOSE HORRIBLE RED EYES.

Papyrus gulped. "A-A-AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!" he screamed, desperately hiding behind Erin. "M-MAKE THAT WEIRD NONSENSE GO AWAY! I-IT'S HORRIFYING MEEE!!!"
Chara's aura was absolutely repugnant... the human was filled with so much bloodlust, so much LOVE, that their very being brought monsters a feeling of being eaten alive by airborn acid. Papyrus, kind as he was, couldn't stand that nasty feeling energy rising off the kid.

Erin was unsure how to approach this matter... Undyne however could feel the absolute venom in the air just like Papyrus could... It was a familiar venom... But one that felt a million times worse then the venom she knew. Her eyes were wide, understanding starting to form... This was what that demon child became after it destroyed her. It only continued on to get that much worse.... Suddenly she could just imagine it. She could just SEE IT. This child going on to kill everyone it came across. Mettaton, Sans, the knights, the innocents at MTT... Alphys... All of them. Gone. Extinguished like candles in the wind... She gripped her spear tightly... "YOU..." "Aaaah~. You remember me now. How quaint." Chara grinned beside himself, arms behind his back. "How've you been 'OH SO VERY DEAD'. I know I had fun myself. Alphys screamed a lot when I finally found her... Turned out she was standing on the edge of a cliff. It was disappointing, but in the end, I figured it made sense... You know, CONSIDERING ALL OF THE HORRIBLE THINGS SHE HAD DONE."A SPEAR WAS LAUNCHED AT CHARA AT FAST SPEEDS AND IT CONNECTED HARD. ..... He didn't even flinch. ... UNDYNE LET OUT A BREATH AND TOOK A STEP BACK IN SHOCK. "..... Oh I'm sorry~. Did I touch a nerve~? Hehehehehe! The energy I'm getting from you definitely hints that." Energy-? And whenever I corrupt something... OH THE FEELING I GET. THE MISERY. THE PAIN. IT'S ACTUALLY QUITE DELICIOUS."... SO... HE WAS GAINING 'LEVELS OF VIOLENCE' SIMPLY BY EXISTING NOW. FUCK.
