Toby snickered right back at her. "Not complaining, of course."
As he watched the previews, Toby couldn't help but whisper his opinions and commentary, whether it be on how interesting some upcoming epic looked or how stupid some lackluster January-release comedy would be.

"Oh. Hey. New Star Wars," Chrys noted with a whisper.
((Given the date and such))

"I know...! Gonna be awesome!!" Toby practically squeed. "Maybe we... could... I dunno... if you wanted to, we could..."

"I have a full Trooper kit I've been wanting to wear... I'd be up for that," she offered.

Toby had to snicker, his blush only slightly visible in the dim light. "Y-Yeah, it'd be fun! Oh..."
Right about that time, the lights went down and the film began, the screen illuminated by Leo the Lion's smug face. Toby beamed at Chrys, then gazed ahead, ready and waiting.

Chrys smiled before her attention returned to the screen.

As the film began, Toby had to admit... the opening scene really hit him, so to speak. Seeing the main character as a child in a juvenile detention center, getting in fights with other boys, his father's widow coming to adopt him...
It had been a long time since Toby thought about his early years in the orphanage. Those were days he would rather forget. Growing up in loveless environment, constantly bullied, never remotely happy until the Grayson family found him.
Toby awkwardly twiddled his thumbs, eyes flicking between the screen and the floor, mentally ordering himself to stop dwelling on the past and just enjoy the movie.

Chrys sighed. She looked to Toby and gently put a hand on top of his. Memories of herself bouncing from foster home to foster home flooded the back of her mind as her eyes watched the screen.

Toby briefly glanced at their hands, reaching up to stroke Chrys's hand with his thumb. Then he looked back up, clearing his mind enough to keep watching.
As the first act continued, he really felt for Donnie as he began his journey to make a name for himself and not stay trapped in his father's shadow. Starting a new life was never easy, no matter how old you were, but here was a man who was setting out on his own to do what he loved. What he had been doing his whole life. Toby could respect that, and Donnie just seemed like a cool guy in general.
He had to give Chrys a big smile when Rocky first appeared on screen. He had a feeling that this was going to be great.

Chrys smiled. Now the awesome starts~ she thought as she saw Rocky show up.

Well... so far so good.
To his pleasant surprise, Toby was greatly enjoying the scene in which Donnie started to form a relationship with his neighbor, Bianca. Maybe it was because their dialogue just felt so natural, funny, and yet oddly potent. They felt like real people, and because of this and the fact that the scene didn't drag out or get too corny, he could quickly get behind this romance.
And Rocky going to visit his wife's grave... Short as that moment was, the weight to it was powerful. It almost brought a tear to Toby's eye.
............
He had to wonder if there was anything left of his adoptive family to return to. If he could return at all.

Chrys quietly leaned on her date.

............
Toby smiled a little as he felt Chrys's warmth, once again rooting himself in the present moment. Besides, the movie quickly proved to have a sense of humor during the training montage of Donnie jumping rope and chasing chickens, backed up by genuinely funny one-liners from Rocky. As he watched the fighter and trainer's relationship build, Toby idly munched on Raisinets, at one point holding up the box to offer some to Chrys.

She in return offered some of her Skittles to him. Chrys did take a few of the raisinets.

Toby happily accepted a few, popping the Skittles in his mouth one by one, resting his other arm on the seat back behind Chrys.
He sat comfortably like this for a while until about the halfway mark, during Donnie's first real fight. At that point, Toby was practically on the edge of his seat, soaking in the heated match, holding in his excitement so he wouldn't disturb the other patrons. It felt like he was right there in the middle of the action. The grit and brutality were realistic enough, but the editing that made the scene look like one continuous take took it one step further.
Right then and there, Toby knew that this really was as spectacular as he had hoped it would be.
When the battle was won, Toby leaned back again, grinning gleefully yet bashfully at Chrys as he settled back into their previous position.
