Evan never managed to catch back up with Toby during the final stretch, and although he came in second for this last race, he had won enough times to come in first overall. "Yeah! Good game, guys!"
"Aw, fourth again..." Patrick groaned, tossing his Wiimote aside. "Oh well! Sandvich!"
"Y-Yeah! Thanks, Jen!" Toby chuckled, getting up to snatch one of the warm, neatly-wrapped buns.
As everyone gathered around for lunch, Evan sat down at the table alone and munched on a sandwich, taking a moment just to think. This really had been quite a day, and he was enjoying every minute of it. These guys really knew how to put a smile on his face and make him feel unequivocally loved. He wouldn't have wished for more on his birthday.
Still... it felt like something was missing.
Kendall sat down next to him, holding off on eating his own sandwich for now to inquire about his friend's sudden despondency. "Is everything alright, Evan?"
"Yeah, I'm fine..." Evan sighed. "I'm having a great time, I really am. It's just... I had hoped that..."

At that moment, Evan suddenly noticed a strange flat black shape appearing outside the house in the front lawn.

Letting out a breath upon seeing the apartment before him, Alex smiled as he closed the void portal behind him... Really, it was truly a blessing to have safe access to his Void modus back. IT was going to make things a LOT easier in the long run. With Swift on his back, he approached the door simply. Taking a second to rearrange Swift, he knocked on the door... With his foot. "HELLOOO! Colvard Express mail with a special delivery!" How typically geek, heck it wasn't even a GOOD joke.... However with how tired he was, there was a number of places he would have liked being as opposed to here... No offense meant to Evan but there was still others Alex needed to reunite with.
And as he waited at the door, he realized that he was in full view of his own apartment. He was almost hoping Lizzie and Ryan had missed his entrance. He didn't want them to see him in his current sorry state.

Ace whipped around, confused by the sudden interruption. "What the deuce?" She was just as quickly taken aback when she saw who it was.
"O-Oh my goodness..." Aether murmured.
Swift took a deep breath and gently climbed off of Alex's back, bucking up and standing on her own aching legs. This was... never easy. Coming back after completely losing control. It was hard for her to imagine how it felt for the others, having to associate her with the monster that could have very well slaughtered them all in hedonistic bloodlust. For a while, she just stared at the ground, too ashamed to look her friends in the eyes.
But when she smelled... him... Oh God, she missed him so much, SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE ALONE ANYMORE!

Evan could only gaze wide-eyed at the portal outside. He had a good idea who it was. He just wasn't expecting who was accompanying him.
"Oh my God..." He practically hurled himself out of his seat and threw the door open, staring at the mess that was his Swift with joy, sadness, relief, panic, longing and concern all at once. "Oh God, Swift...!!"
Evan then threw himself and Swift and pulled her into his arms, burying his face in her untamed hair, unable to hold back the tears. He held her tight. He slowly rocked her. He surrounded her in his warmth. All the while, he struggled helplessly to form the proper words to express how amazing it was to have her back. "Oh, Swift... I... I j... I thought... I'm so... S-Swift..."
The others held back, giving Evan all the time he needed to get his emotions out and revel in his reunion. Some smiled, some were floored by the scene, all were happy to see him back with the one he loved.

Letting out a quiet breath, the Thief of Void turned and prepared to walk off... He decided he'd leave it like that. Without a word of thanks, without them even noticing he was there. This moment was about Evan and Swift... Not him-.

Likewise, Swift stepped forward and let herself fall on Evan, wrapping her arms around him gently enough not to hurt him, but tight enough to hold on and never let go. She nestled her head in the crook of his neck, losing herself in the heat of his blood and the rhythm of his heart. He was there... he was safe... and even after what she'd done... he still proved, like every other time before, that she was still just as loved.
Swift's hug tightened ever so slightly as she wept into his hoodie. Her entire body was shuddering. Her ears flicked from the waves of emotions, brushing up against Evan's chin.
"Evan... I'm sorry... I...... I'm sorry..."

"Shhhhhh... Shh shh shh..." Evan only continued to comfort her, rubbing her back, stroking her hair, holding her steady... It saddened him to see his little wolf in such a weak state. He wanted nothing more than to ease her pain, be there for her... know she was there to love and be loved.
No matter what... no matter what they went through... Swift still meant the world to him.
Seeing her now, even after all of that... it was all he could have ever wanted on this day.
It hurt somewhat for Evan to tear his eyes away from his beloved when he noticed their guest leaving without a word. He didn't want to let her out of his sight again, but he couldn't ignore the deed that had been done. "A-Alex...!"
When the thief looked back, he would find Evan biting his tongue in a feeble attempt at hissing out a single word. He was just too overwhelmed to properly enunciate his feelings. Not that he really needed to. The glimmer in his eyes, the gratefulness in his face... it pretty much said it all.

Alex only smiled a little bit at the look, holding up a hand to shush Evan and turned back around to the street.
"Don't worry about it, alright? ...... Just... Take care of each other." He holds up a hand to wave the two off. "Now... If you'll excuse me..." .... When he spoke next, it was with a kind of gentleness... A kind of fondness that neither Evan nor Swift was used to hearing from the Thief...
"I have my own special one I really want to see."
He opens the void Portal without another word and walks through it...
The black shape, with almost an air of finality, closes shut, signaling the Thief's departure.

Swift was silent as she watched Alex go, still unable to muster a reaction to what he had done for her. All she could do was hold onto Evan. Bask in his warmth and security. As far as she was concerned, no force on Heaven, Earth, Hell or Dimensional Island would tear her away from him again.
"I... I'm so glad you're okay..."

Evan could only nod to Alex, respectfully allowing him to depart. They seemed to be at an understanding. For now, that was all Evan could ask out of him.
He gave Swift another hug and smiled down at her. "Yeah... Yeah, I'm alright. I'm just happy you're alright." He pulled away ever so slightly so he could take Swift's hand, gently caressing her fingers and the ring she wore. "D... Please... Don't do that... Don't hurt yourself like that ever again..."

Swift nodded back, her head still leaning against Evan. Of course, to her it was more a matter of hurting others when she was in full yokai form... but that was the worst pain of all. She would never wish that on Evan or any of their friends. In that regard, the two were at an agreement.

"Shh... It's okay, Swift." Evan resumed rocking her in place. "You just got a little upset. I know you didn't mean to hurt anyone. But we're not gonna worry about that right now."
He finally pulled away so he could look her in the face, letting Swift see his warm smile. "What matters is that we're safe and together again, and we're gonna have some fun today. Alright?"

Looking into Evan's big brown eyes, Swift found that so long as he showered her with the kind of love and support that would not falter no matter what she did, she couldn't stay mad at herself. He had forgiven her. The least she could do was stop beating herself up and show some appreciation. More than that, even. There was no greater feeling than knowing that no matter what, Evan was there for her. And she wouldn't have had it any other way.
She managed a little smile. "Yeah... Yeah, we're gonna have some fun. Sounds great."

"Good." Evan wrapped an arm around Swift's shoulder and ushered her inside, smiling at the others as if he was pleased to show them what he had brought home.
"Awwwww, you guys!" Patrick beamed at the adorable sight, overjoyed to see his best buddy reunited with his lover.
Jen grinned, walked up to the duo and patted Swift's shoulder. "So glad to see you, Swift. We were all so worried."

Andromeda joined them, gently hugging Swift's arm. Aether bounded alongside her, smiling up at Swift. "Oh, I'm so glad you're alright! When Brendon told us what happened... Well... It's nice to see you calm and in control again."
"Yeah! Glad you made it back in time!" Ace cheered.
Swift smiled awkwardly at the team, touched and grateful for their welcoming gestures. "Th-Thanks, guys... I... I-It's good to be back. I wouldn't want to miss out on today of all days."
