"Ma'am, please." Aether hopped onto the table and over to Enlightenment, scowling up at her like a displeased mother. "We would appreciate it if you stopped harassing our friend."
"Yeah! Go drive the fact that Toby isn't one of you freaks into your queen bee's think box!" Swift snapped. "And tell your sadistic frig of a general that we'll train him alright! Make him into the virus that'll kill you all from the inside out!"

"Can I shoot her now?" Chrys asked the group as she held her gun pointed at Enlightenment. It was clear that she was not going to put up with any of the crap that this Præn'tos was offering.

Enlightenment just laughed at Chrys's threat. "By all means, go right ahead!"
"Please... don't..." Jen held up a hand, aiming to lower the gunblade at the first twitch. "It won't take her out for long and would just cause panic in the complex."
"You know..." Enlightenment meekly offered. "Mistress Desire might consider forgoing zhe invasion if you let us have Herr Toby."
"HECK NO AT ALL!" Patrick shouted, his hands still radiating with magical energy.
Darien scowled at her. "You said you weren't going to bargain with us!"
"Zhat vasn't a bargain, it vas an observation I came up with just now."
"Whatever it was, you can forget it!" Evan ordered. "Now if you've said everything you need to-"
"Almost." Enlightenment beamed and continued, "Zhis is a varning from Mein General. Sometime, somevhere... ve vill attack. Maybe. Probably. Could be happening right noooow...!"
Evan's eyes narrowed in suspicion. Toby's eyes widened with fear.

"Fingers crossed," Swift snarled, threateningly raising her claws.
"Thanks for the early warning," Ace growled. "Now get outta here. And stay away from him."

Chrys gave a low growl as she watched Enlightenment's movements. "And the that general of yours to go f*** himself with a chainsaw," she hissed.

Enlightenment humbly raised her hands and started to step away. "Very vell. I've said mein peace. I just hope you're ready for vhat's coming."
"Trust me, we will be," Evan responded lowly.
"Heehee... So zhat's it? No ozher questions?"
Toby mumbled for a bit, struggling to come up with the right words, questioning if he should even ask her anything at all, let alone trust her if he did.
"I see. Vell zhen... before I go, I was vondering if you could do me vone little favor."
"No... bargains!" Darien barked. "Remember?!"
"It's just vone tiny little favor! It's not even zhat big a deal!" Enlightenment smiled sweetly at Toby. "All I vant is to see your true form."
For a moment, Toby just stared at her, confused and affronted. He knew exactly what she was asking. Not only did he not agree with her terminology in the slightest, but no force in paradox space could compel him to enter that disgusting form without good reason. And this was not a good enough reason for him. "No... No!"
"Come on!" Enlightenment begged. "I had hoped to see it last night at zhe cemetery, but no such luck! I just vant to see zhe Green-Eyed Præt'nos for meinself!"
"I said NO!"
"I'm not asking for much. Just a little glimpse of zhe Præt'nos within."
"SCREW OFF!"

"HEY! HE SAID NO!" Swift protested. "NOW LEAVE HIM ALONE!"
"Honestly, I've been fairly tolerant up to this point only because you haven't shown any immediate signs of hostility," Aether firmly stated, scowling at Enlightenment. "But ordering Toby around is not going to keep you on anyone's good graces. I'll only say this once. Leave now."

"I know it's impolite to shoot the messenger but can I please stab her? Only going to ask once," Chrys asked towards Toby. "And seriously?!?!? Wow. You have some gaul asking for something like that in the house of your enemy!" Chrys was more than ready to shank this Præn'tos.

Toby held a hand up to Chrys to calm her down, though his hard glare remained focused on Enlightenment.
Seeing Toby's resistance and the others' defensiveness, Enlightenment knew her back was against the wall. As such, she raised her hands in surrender and started to walk away again. "Okayyyy, if you insiiiist..."
She had that tone. The tone of someone pretending to play along before the inevitable attack.
"Didn't mean to step out of line. No siree."
She slowed to a halt. The atmosphere grew tense.
"I guess I'll just report back to General Sanguine and HYAAAAAAAAH!"
Finally, Enlightenment whipped around and threw herself at the group, darkness erupting from her form and transforming her into the monster she truly was. At her command, shadows burst forth from beneath the table and swept everyone aside save for Toby, whom Enlightenment pinned beneath one massive hand.
Carter quickly scrambled to his feet and lunged at Enlightenment, biting down into her arm. She immediately threw him off, only for Evan to jump onto her back, Paramount Key aimed for her chest. Shadows tightened around his neck and wrist, forcing his hand open and causing the key to fall out of his grip and into Enlightenment's. Then a blast of abjuration magic from Patrick threw her against the wall, knocking Evan away and sending the key flying.
All the while, before Toby could pick himself up, shadows swarmed around him, keeping him down on the floor no matter how much he struggled or repelled them.

"YEAH! OKAY!" Swift was quick to leap into the air and swipe the key out of free fall, then rush over to Evan to help him back up and give him back the key.
Aether took a stance next to Enlightenment, ready to strike the moment she saw fit. Behind her, Andromeda knelt down next to Toby and, with a fair amount of strain, ignited several small bursts of light in the hopes of dispelling the shadows. And while Patrick had Enlightenment pinned to the wall with a spell, Ace drew her Blackjack staff and charged at the Præt'nos, the sharp, spaded end aimed for her neck.

Chrys, despite being thrown into a wall, got back up and pulled out all of her tokens. Screw it! My friends need help! she mentally screamed as all were put in the belt and surprisingly they all fit.
"Henshin!" She muttered as a circle of light surrounded her feet and odd ruins hovered around her. The suit formed once more but this time the body suit was ivory. The armor plates seemed to be more opalescent and the visor almost seemed to be clear.
"Hazen Ascension!" She callked as the wing arms stretched to display a rather vivid light show from the wings.

"Thanks." Evan gratefully took the key from Swift and wisely put it away again. He had other weapons now, after all, and it was high time he used them.
Just before Ace's staff could pierce her neck, Enlightenment turned her body to pure shadow, slithering out of Patrick's hold and reforming on the other side of the room. "You're making zhis so much harder zhan it needs to be!"
Without a word, Evan drew the Master Morning Star and charged back into the fray, expertly blocking the advancing shadows. Patrick followed suit, throwing light spells after light spell. Any time they or the others got too close, Enlightenment slipped away again, simply letting her shadows do the work.
Knowing they were better off not firing their guns, Jen and Darien joined Andromeda in repelling the darkness that restrained Toby. All the while, Toby continued to struggle. He just couldn't keep a firm grip on the shadows, finding himself buried in them all too soon.

Ace's staff slammed into the wall where Enlightenment once was. Immediately, she ricocheted off of it and flew at the demon, poised and aimed to strike again. Swift sliced through the shadows and threw some yoki blades at their master. Aether snuck through the living room, launching the occasional lightning bolt at the darkness. No matter how hard they swung, Enlightenment just kept dodging them.
It was ridiculous, sure, but as long as she attacked them, they had to fight back.
Andromeda panicked when Toby vanished within the veil of darkness. She then hastily charged up as much light as she could and threw it at the shadows. Admittedly, it did very little other than tire her out, as evidenced by her falling onto her hands and knees, silently panting and shaking.

Chrys folded her wings before letting a few orbs of light wander the room as her left clutched the gunblade again. Now it looked less like a weird frozen gunblade more like it was just an over elaborate sword.
A large blade came the mouth of the dragon.
Chrys was oddly silent as she started to go after Enlightenment.

Silently and ferociously, Enlightenment continued to strike her opponents with shadows and evade their attacks. Evan's keyblade, Swift's claws, Patrick's spells, Ace's staffs, Chrys's sword, Aether's elemental attacks... none of them seemed to land a hit on the demented Præt'nos.
Beneath his cover of shadows, as Jen, Darien and Andromeda continued their efforts to pry him free, Toby came to a very unfortunate conclusion. Enlightenment was egging him on. She had made clear what she wanted, and now she was simply playing dirty to get it. The last thing he wanted was to give her the satisfaction... but he was resisting at the cost of his friends' security. There was a very real chance that she would kill any one of them. He couldn't just lay down and accept that. He had to power to end this.
He didn't have to like it, though...
"GET BACK!"
"Oh bullocks..." Darien quickly backed away from the writhing mass of shadows, Jen nervously following suit.
The darkness exploded upwards like an erupting volcano, and from out of that darkness tore a screaming, livid Præt'nos. His bright green eyes blazed in Enlightenment's direction as he reeled back, then threw himself at her, the shadows launching ahead of him to strike her down.
Enlightenment grinned in sadistic delight and effortlessly deflected the shadows right back at him, as well as the other attackers. The waves of darkness blew Patrick and Carter away, and although Evan continued to cut down the shadows, he opted to stand on the sidelines and hope Toby knew what he was doing.
