Not far from Percy and William, the newly formed pair of sprites were already flinging attack after attack at the Praet'nos. Perus wildly swung his right arm, building up electricity as Frosty generated up several rounded crystals, The massive Sprite releasing three, flying electrical punches that slammed into the crystals, flying out and smashing into a small crowd of Praet'nos. Though the explosive rounds of ice hardly did anything to deter the shadowy juggernauts, it didn't stop the pair of them from slinging electric ice ball after electric ice ball.
"UUGH! How can two tiny pipsqueaks be so ANNOYING?!?" One asked, groaning before slipping into the shadows. It appeared behind them, roaring as a clawed hand prepared to slice Perun to ribbons!
BONG!!!
Since it aimed at his back, the creature only managed to jam its claws on the sprite's drum. Perun gave the beast an annoyed look, Frosty more than happily jumping up and sticking an icicle knife in its neck. Perun angrily jumped, punching the knife all the way through- right into one of the ice blocks on the igloos. "Don't... Bother us," he growled, the Praet'nos screaming pure bloody murder as it dissolved into a bubbling shadow.

The Nape of the neck huh? As Undyne looked around, she found many fellow warriors taking this into account and starting to aim their attacks thusly. It looked like it was time for her to do the same. "Oooooh, this is going to be FUN~." She took in the multitude of enemies approaching her as she zipped through others, aiming spears at the napes of the necks and otherwise obliterating the appendage entirely in the attempt. Grinning widely, so thoroughly back in her element, Undyne dodged several more attacks and countered with Spears SHOOTING OUT OF THE GROUND AT AN UPWARD ANGLE, piercing several necks while the danger beasts hands shot to guard as if expecting something from midrange rather then low range. "BOOOM~!!!" Undyne laughed like a nerd as she slammed a fist into the ice... A second later- *Undyne suplexes a massive block of ice just because she can. And the movement succeeded in flattening a number of these creatures. Sure it wouldn't disperse them, but it WOULD annoy them. "Fufufufufufufu~!!! Come on jackasses!! IS that the best you can do~ " She notes a few trying to sneak up on William and Percy and quickly blasts the napes of their necks. The pained screams catch the two's attention. "Watch your backs!! Hahaha!!" She followed up by forming a spear and spinning it around, slicing through any jerkwad trying to sneak up on her to do her harm. The sheer speed and power of her attacks was almost noteworthy.

It was chaos, yes... but it wasn't total mayhem. Though the Præt'nos swarmed continuously through the village, striking the heroes left and right, with seemingly no end to the horde, those who fought back against the demons proved that they could not only face the storm of darkness, but fight back against it, slow as it might have been. Demons fell, but more kept coming, the shadows still as active and livid as ever with each passing moment.
The pops from Jen's guns, the whooshing of Undyne's spears, the slices from William and Percy's blades, the cracks of the sprites' elemental attacks... all were muffled by a deep, foreboding rumbling.
Lukewarm water flooded the pathways, reaching up to most of the fighters' knees. If they were to look towards where the stream was flowing from, they would see what almost looked like a small glacier rushing down the mountainside as the icy ground collapsed beneath it, heated by the hot spring water Phlegmatic commanded. The ground shook as the avalanche rapidly approached, aiming to swallow the village and all those in it in its cold white maw.
A dark blue blur fell from the sky, landing in the avalanche's watery path, standing firm as a matador facing down a bull. It raised its hands, a blinding white mist exploding from its form and engulfing the oncoming snow. Slowly but surely, the water receded and the snow came to a halt, completely frozen over once again and further barricaded behind a massive, thick wall of ice.
Almost immediately, a number of Præt'nos surrounded this newcomer, obviously displeased by their failed plan.
Senuta sharply turned around and looked up, completely unafraid by the sight of the demons. If anything, she just looked frustrated. "Well... this is new."

"Oh boy..." Sharpshooter though she may be, Jen was having a pretty hard time shooting down wave after endless wave of Præt'nos. The others were doing impressive amounts of damage, to be fair, and most of them had thankfully taken her advice to heart. If they could just whittle down their line of defense...
Phlegmatic, however... he wasn't so amused anymore. Sure, these pests had only barely put a dent in his army, but more frustratingly, this soul-fetching mission was most definitely not going according to plan. There were so few fish to fry here, but none of his soldiers could get their hands on the fighters. At least not where it truly mattered.
Maybe he should make this quick.
Summoning one final geyser of hot water and an almighty push, Phlegmatic sent the massive mounds of snow and water down upon the village, ready to bury this wasteland once and for all...
Only for a lone woman to completely put a stop to his avalanche.
Well now... What have we here? Phlegmatic slithered trough the shadows, getting just close enough to study Senuta.
Jen, meanwhile, had pretty much been left frozen when the water and ice started coming their way. Thankfully most of the Præt'nos had moved aside at that time, but once it was certain that no one was getting buried tonight, the Præt'nos sprung back into action. Jen promptly followed suit, shouting a quick "Nice save! Thank you!" to Senuta as she reloaded and once again unloaded her guns into the demons.

"Smashing blade!"
FWASH! There went one Præt'nos to a hand-turned-blade, Percy's limb glowing faintly. He converted his other hand into an identical blade and stabbed the neck of a second one that had tried to sneak up on him. Panting slightly, he reverted the blades back into regular hands. "Dammit... I usually pride myself on being able to hold out longer..."
William, a few feet to his right, focused on the blade handle, the energy blade coming out at a massive size. With a loud battle cry, he swung the sword in an arc, slicing several Præt'nos, though only dispatching one. Curiously, the survivors seemed to be ignoring him in favour of...
"Percy!! Look out, they're out for YOU specifically!!"

Perun looked about, Frosty putting her hands on his head as she stared in aw at the massive wall of ice made. "I want!" she cooed, Perun lazily shaking his head. She got back into a safe position, the massive brute looking around. With no warning, he jumped through the air, his arm winding up with electricity as he stared down at the ground. Not being familiar with this ability, Frosty kept motionless as he pull a massive swarm of his weight downward, a lightning powered knuckle sandwich pinning a Praet'nos's noggin to the earth.
Frosty quickly chopped it in the neck, looking to the side as the fight continued. Her (possible) pack mates looked like they were starting to get overwhelmed- how was she going to help them out of this mess when she and perun where too far to successfully help?
Unable to stop and smell the spring water, Perun through another punch, catching one of the shadows right in the gut. "No... Time," he uttered.

Undyne's eyes went wide in complete horror when she heard the avalanche. Even more so when she turned and SAW THE DAMN THING THUNDERING TOWARDS THEM. "SHIIIIIIIT-!!!!!!!" While she did panic, for a moment, she growled ANGRILY and turned to the next cluster of shadows that caught her attention. "YOU.... LITTLE.... PRICKS!!!!!!" ------------------- YOU ARE FILLED WITH DETERMINATION. ------------------- The five in front of her were instantly pierced through the nape of the neck and several more were fast to follow. The enraged fish woman was NOT taking this particular development well. "FINE!!! YOU WANT US TO DIE THAT GODDAMN BADLY? THEN I'LL TAKE DOWN EVERY LAST FUCKING ONE OF YOU BEFORE WE DO!!!! HAAAAAH!!!!" Strategic barrages of magical lances blasted outwards, skewering numerous Praetnos knights, before Undyne rolled away from another attack. A jump followed by a spear throw followed as a counter attack, skewering another soldier in the neck. A casual side-step, WEAKPOINT SKEWER, Lance swings, TAKING OFF HEADS, Side-step, trip the solider, then skewering the nape of his neck while he's down- A sudden massive chill rode out through the ice, catching Undyne's attention. The avalanche had been stopped, THANK FUCKING GOD, by some late coming new arrival. Undyne didn't recognize her, but for gods sakes, "HOLY CRAP THAT'S AWESOME!!!! WHOOOOOOT~!!!!!!" she was enjoying EVERY SECOND OF IT. She then see's a number of shadows charging in after the new arrival. With a grin, Undyne quickly started after them herself, deciding to assist the new arrival. ------------------- *Everyone's hearts are beating as one! *And they're all loving where this is going. XD -> ATTACK ACT ITEM MERCY -> Praetnos Horde 1 Praetnos horde 2 Praetnos horde 3 --------------------- Her spears shot out like bullets skewering several of the bastards surrounding Senuta. Undyne meanwhile jumped on of the Praetnos' heads, bounced off it and landed next to the woman, holding a spear up. "No worries~!!! This badass fish has gotcher back!!"

When the Præt'nos threw themselves and their shadows at her from all directions, Senuta leaped into the air, a powerful gust of wind propelling her high above the demons. As she ascended, she raised a hand and summoned stalagmites of ice from the snowy ground, skewering the Præt'nos where they stood. Some phased harmlessly into their shadow forms. Some withered away, having been unfortunate enough to take an icicle to the neck.
Flipping in midair, Senuta dropped back down in front of the crowd of demons, watching as a good number of them reformed and advanced once more. Her silver sclera turned white and her hand reached for her Kiburedo. Easily guessing these shadow creatures' weakness, as soon as they closed in on her, Senuta hit them with a powerful, blinding burst of light, forcing the Præt'nos back and disrupting their dark bodies. While they were distracted, she took hold of the water on the ground and threw it high into the air with none the wiser.
As soon as the light dimmed and the Præt'nos recovered, Undyne swooped in, easily slicing through their defenses with her spears. Following suit, Senuta spun around, unsheathed her keyblade and decapitated three advancing Præt'nos at once, then she bounded off the ground and behind Undyne, having seen enough of her strategy to know what the deal was.
"I like your passion. It'll serve you well." Senuta nodded, staring at their horde of foes with calm dignity. "So... the nape of the neck then. Easy enough."
The whites of her eyes turned silver again. With a wave of her hand, the water that started to rain down upon them hardened into icy needles that she expertly guided into a large number of the Præt'nos' necks.

Alright... this was going well. Jen just kept telling herself that, keeping her chin up, her eyes alert, and her guns blazing. Rarely did she miss a shot, and between her and the other fighters, these Præt'nos were dropping like flies. This was easier than she had anticipated.
Too easy...
Phlegmatic was a deceptively tricky one. He was watching them. He had to have something up his sleeve.
After clearing another wave of Præt'nos, Jen quickly reloaded and dashed to the edge of the village, circling around and scanning the fray for anything that might seem out of place. Sure, Phlegmatic's attempt to start an avalanche had proved fruitless, and with Senuta here to keep the water frozen, his secondary element was almost entirely useless. That didn't mean he was down for the count. He would figure out a new plan soon enough. The trick was getting him out in the open before he could put that plan into motion.
With a leap of faith, Jen scaled the ice wall, standing atop it and observing the fight below. This was the last place she had seen the water general. He had to be hiding in the shadows somewhere...
"Where are you, you slippery snake?" she murmured under her breath, calmly shooting down a rogue Præt'nos without even looking.
All the while, the Præt'nos she sought silently moved about in the shadows, fascinated by the battle his demons were engaged in. Those little sprites were putting up a big fight. The two swordsmen were a uniquely skilled duo. The fish woman... well, she was poetry in motion, and the woman in the kimono was much the same in her own way. Phlegmatic found it bizarrely beautiful to watch. Or at least he might have if it wasn't at his army's expense. Still... he had a feeling he could get to these guys.
From under the cover of darkness, unseen and unheard by his opponents, Phlegmatic gave his orders. "Second unit, fall back..."

"My my, you're a frisky one... And you'd make such a good soldier..."
Percy let out a loud growl, his hand converting to the glowing blade once again, strain evident on his face. "My soul's tainted enough without your influence, thank you very much." With a second growl, he thrust the blade at the Præt'nos nearest him...
Only for his stab to be too slow, allowing the shadow creature to dodge... Weirdly, some of them seemed to be pulling back...
"Hey, Perce, let's fall back a bit. That... Uh, person with the spears seems to be the strongest other one here, best to take up a position with them I think..."
"Right!"
The red-coated youth reverted his hand back as he followed William towards the spear-summoning figure, though his fingers were still pointed claws...

With the ice stopping the nearby avalanche and the other members of this offensive team starting to conjoin, the three-foot, muscle bound sprite started hobbline toward them, Frosty quick to look for anything that might have wanted to sneak attack them. "Safe...?" he asked, looking around.
His drumstick-like tail slowly twitched, the Sprite's shaggy eyebrows flowing in a sudden breeze. Frosty scowled, the tiny sprite watching the environment.

Undyne was a little surprised to find the hordes starting to thin out slightly... But meh, she supposed that suited her just fine. Plus the fact that a lot of people were gathering around her incited such giddiness from the monster. It was like she was back in the good old days of the Royal Guard and these people were like her fellow monsters in duty. Heck the two young men seemed like the soldier types even. Undyne summoned another spear as they joined her using it to skewer a Praetnos that was on the retreat with a powerful javelin throw.
"There's still a lot of em around... But the other half's retreating..." She looks to the woman in robes, expression unsure. "Heya uh... Lady. What do you make of that?" Undyne was quick to clash with more of the Praetnos guards remaining and summoned two more spears that skewered them in the neck launching in from behind them. Undyne caught the spears and proceeded to block another strike.

After stabbing her keyblade through two Præt'nos' necks and knocking more of them down with a blast of light, all in rapid succession, Senuta turned to Undyne and calmly responded, "I sincerely doubt that creatures of such malice would give up so easily. The fight has hardly begun. This isn't a retreat. This is a tactical maneuver."
She couldn't easily predict what these demons were plotting, but she could prepare for it regardless. In the meantime, there was still a wave of Præt'nos attacking from all sides. Taking them down was their current priority. They could formulate a new course of action once this first horde was eliminated.
"I suspect..." Senuta growled as she clashed with three Præt'nos at once, Kiburedo in one hand, icicles in the other. "...that they're waiting... for us... to decimate... this wave of... cannon fodder!" When one Præt'nos lunged at her from behind, Senuta whirled around and gave it a mighty kick, one powerful enough to distort its shadowy body and send it flying Undyne's way.

From her perch, Jen noted that the Præt'nos' numbers were rapidly dwindling. Initial relief quickly gave way to confusion. Yes, her fellow fighters were tearing through their ranks with impressive tact and skill, but a large number of the demons were just vanishing for no apparent reason. Slinking back into the shadows as if to escape the battle entirely.
Of course she found this suspicious. Phlegmatic was deceptively lax, but a deep thinker beneath his carefree exterior. He was up to something.
And hearing Senuta's theory, Jen started to figure out. "Trying to get us to let our guard down..."
Well, that was fine by her. All they had to do was stay alert. Upon reloading her guns, Jen leaped back into the fray and shot down the Præt'nos once again. Take these guys out, pause to breathe, then prepare to jump right back into the action. She could do that.
Soon enough, only a few of the demons remained. As their numbers waned, they started to depend less on brute strength and more on strategy. Many of them disappeared into the shadows, only to reappear behind an opponent, oftentimes in groups of four or five. More than once, Jen had to leap backwards with guns blazing just to narrowly dodge a sneak attack. The process was slow and nerve-wracking, but nothing the markswoman wasn't used to.
And off in the distance, as he kept a close vigil over the escaped villagers, Darien could only watch in fear and question why the fight had grown so quiet.

THWACK!
SWISH!
The pair of sprites were quick to discover that Perun's hard punches were capable of making the otherwise invulnerable Praet'nos stare blankly for a second, his powerful blows, normally strong enough to rend rock, only being able to stun the creatures, or at least give them an actual dosage of pain. This shock was enough for Frosty to cut into their necks, the crystal coated fancy often turning around with intense speed the second they slayed a beast.
"No... End," Perun admitted, slowly stumbling as he looked around. There were too many things going in his head at once- he couldn't figure out what was the best way to combat these constantly appearing shadows. Fortunately, his slow reflexes were easily countered by Frosty's hunting skill, the wild child slashing apart necks the second one walked too close to the pair of them.
"Tired," Frosty panted, Perun quick to deliver his own launching punch, giving Undyne two Praet'nos in quick succession to deal with.
"Endure," he instructed, his knees bending as he panted.
