"Ah... That'll help clear our path. Good to know." Takumi didn't see any other Dragon Veins nearby though. Just a few further along, blocked by those invisible soldiers.
An arrow to the shoulder snapped him back to attention. "Rrgh!"
[Takumi's HP: 30 -> 17 Status: Altitude Sickness -> None_]
"Hhh... damn it..." He fired another arrow, taking out the archer that attacked him. "This isn't good. I don't want to die up here. That'd be... a pretty bad way to go."

"And I just told you not to die," Leo snarked... Only to be hit with a fire spell. He screamed... That hurt far more than it should have...
[Leo's HP: 29 -> 14]
"This isn't the end..." he said, though his voice shook. A weak gleam showed in his eyes. "I will erase you!"
A larger evergreen tore out of the snowy around and ripped through the Dark Mage's body.

Takumi grimaced, taking aim... "...Die already!" His arrow ripped through a Sky Knight, and the Archer began to hurry along the path. "Come on, we have to move! We'll get boxed in if we don't!"
He was trying very hard to ignore the blood from his shoulder staining the snow below.

"For once, I agree with you..." He didn't want to admit it, but between the thin mountain air and the burns he had sustained, Leo wasn't in the condition to keep fighting.
Another tree sprung up from the ground, knocking back a group of soldiers. "There's an opening. Let's go."
---
Meanwhile, several feet below that...
Eirika landed with a rather undignified flop into the snow, shivering at the sudden cold sensation. Pulling herself up and trying to ignore the cold feeling, she took in the wintery surroundings. A hand reached for Sieglinde at her side... Only to meet nothing. Her breathing picked up a bit at that, reaching instead for the Rapier as she scanned for any hostile presence.
"Brother... Are you well?"

"Fancy that..." Takumi grimaced as he made a break for it, activating another Dragon Vein to clear their path. "Go!"
---
Ephraim coughed as he hit the ground, feeling the cold snow soaking his tunic and chilling his skin. "Nngh... only if you are, sister." He staggered to his feet, reaching for Siegmund... nothing. At least he still had Reginleif. "...Where... where are we? This looks nothing like anywhere I've seen in Magvel..."

"Not even the mountains of Caer Pelyn were this high... Or this snowy..." Eirika said. Clearly, the mountain air wasn't agreeing with her system this time either. She sensed... a strange presence...
"There's something wrong about this place..."

Ephraim grit his teeth, holding Reginleif a bit more tightly. "I agree, sister. There's an odd... feeling about this place. Mountain air aside, I have the feeling we're in great danger here. Which way ought we go? Stick close; we'll get through this together." He cursed their misfortune... still, no matter. They would endure.
---
Meanwhile, further up the mountain, Takumi groaned slightly. "You know, this might not be the best time to say this, but those old stories are full of lies; there is nothing beautiful about bloodstains in the snow when it's your own blood."
While they'd gotten to a better position, they were still in an open are with a lot of invisible soldiers about. Things looked grim...
Not too far from them, a pair that would have been familiar to the Hoshidan prince were dusting the snow off of them.
"Oh, this is just wonderful. This was one of my favorite kimono, damn it!" Oboro was clearly not pleased by the turn of events. "Now it's soaked!"
Hinata groaned a bit. "Of all the times to wear short sleeves... urgh. Let's find our liege and get the hell off this mountain... wait, do you hear... that sounds like battle."
"...You're right. Maybe... let's go, Hinata!" Without giving the Samurai a chance to say anything, Oboro began dragging him off towards the sounds.

Alongside the two Hoshidans were a pair of men that the Nohrian prince would have found familiar. One was dressed relatively suitably for the cold, while the other was not exactly wearing much to begin with.
"... And then, from the gaping maw of Ymir came thousands upon thousands of frost giants! Our gallant hero was greatly outnumbered, but he knew no fear! He readied his trusty blade, the flaming Angurvadal, and with a mighty scream, he-" Despite Odin's lack of a shirt, or much for that matter, he seemed completely unaffected by the cold, crafting a tale from what appeared to be nowhere.
"Odin, you're a fucking nutjob, you know that?" Niles said, trying to resist the urge to fire off one of his arrows into the mage's throat and pass it off as an accident. "Besides, if miss Oboro here is correct, there is some kind of battle going on atop this frozen hellhole. Wouldn't want your gravestone to say 'Here lies Odin, died because he couldn't keep his mouth shut', now would you?"
---
"I really don't give a damn..." Leo replied through gritted teeth. Even if the lower they went and the easier it became to breathe, they were still outnumbered, in the open, and in the freezing cold.
"Move...!" The tree that sprouted was feeble-looking. The two princes had been backed to a seemingly-solid edge... It took an arrow from Takumi to get the Fighter to stay down. "D-Dammit... Got any ideas as to how we can get out of th-"
Before he could finish that sentence, the edge caved in under the weight of the younger princes. "Shit....!!"
The fall felt like forever, and once again, Leo found himself face-first in a snowbank. Groaning, he weakly pulled himself out... Only to find that an Oni Chieftain was closing in on them... The feeble evergreen and wind arrow from the pair merely knocked it back a step...
"This... I won't die like this...!!"
The Chieftain raised its Rabbit Spirit scroll, about to attack the princes...
It was interrupted by an arrow to the back. "Come on, you'll miss your taste!"
"I invoke the terrible wrath of the never-ending winter, Fimbulvetr!" The surrounding snow and winds seemed to focus their power on the Chieftian, making it stumble...
"Hang on... Is that who I think it is...?"

"No way..." Takumi couldn't help the grin that crossed his features, even as a familiar figure charged in on the Chieftain, his Steel Katana flashing through the air, slicing them.
Finally, a female voice rang out. "Oh, that's it!" Oboro lunged in, impaling the Chieftain, its form dissipating. Almost immediately, Hinata and Oboro raced over, helping Takumi to his feet. "Oh, thank goodness... are you going to be alright, Lord Takumi?"
The archer grimaced a bit. "Most likely, now that it's not just me and him..."
Hinata grit his teeth. "Damn... you two look like you've really had it rough. Where were you?"
"Up there..." Takumi gestured higher up the mountain. "Needless to say, it's been pretty rough. I'm glad to see you both."

"Milord Leo! We were wondering where you landed! I feared you were being devoured by the fiends of Hel, or perhaps being stuck in the eternal torment of-" Odin proclaimed dramatically, bowing to Leo. "The only eternal torment our lord will be stuck in is the one you create with your nonstop talking," Niles said, cutting the dramatic mage off. "I too was worried, milord. I'll be more than happy to utterly destroy those who dare harm you." "Augh!" Leo's retainers were not exactly giving the dark prince much personal space. "Yes, it's great to see the both of you alive and well, but sheesh! Personal space, please...!" "As you command..." "Okay, okay..." "I can see lights. It'd be reasonable to assume there's a village down there," Niles pointed out. Indeed, there was a faint light visible down below.
"Right. Everyone get down there... And do mind the thin air..." Leo's breath was becoming staggered again.

"Stick close... there's no telling how many more of those invisible soldiers are around here."
[Takumi: HP: 17/30; Status: Altitude Sickness.]
"Of course. Stay behind me, Lord Takumi," Oboro said, grasping her Steel Naginata. "I'll crush anyone who'd try to hurt you."
Hinata rubbed the back of his head. "Maybe I won't do so much crushing of foes, but I've got your back, milord. Let's go."
As the group continued on, Takumi could see shimmering on the path ahead. "Damn it. As I thought... there's a group of them up ahead. Stay sharp." He carefully took aim, before firing at a Spear Fighter up ahead, staggering it. "Damn it! I hate that the Fujin Yumi got weakened..."

A blast of Fimbulvetr knocked the Spear Fighter to its knees, before being finished off by an arrow.
"T-Three hits to fell a common soldier..." Leo said, his hand actually shaking now. He frowned, casting Brynhildr on the ground, scattering away some of the snow in their immediate path.
The snow was ineffective at seriously halting the invisible soldiers. While some did slip on the ice, it did not seem to hinder them for long. A Sky Knight, free from the challenges of its land-bound comrades, got the jump on Niles, its Killer Lance mercifully avoiding its trademark killing blow.
"A-Augh...!" Niles stumbled back from the hit, reaching for the Mini Bow...
[Niles HP: 24 -> 13 Status: Altitude Sickness]
"Now now, I enjoy playing rough, but not quite like that..." the outlaw responded to the hit, firing one of the bolts into the flying annoyance, sending the phantom flyer down into a tumble below...
A very long tumble, from the looks of it. The group of six had been backed into a far wall, nothing but the enemies in front of them and the snow above them...
"Any bright ideas now?!" Leo said, desperate from the situation and delirious from the lack of air. The dramatic mage seemed to be looking, actually thinking...
"Freyja, please lend me aid..." A blue magic circle surrounded the dark mage, the spell travelling up...
There was a rumbling noise, as a snowball began to roll down, gaining speed and size...
"When I asked if anyone had a plan, I didn't mean doom us all faster!"
"If we survive this, I'm going to be shoving an arrow up your ass. And no, that was not an innuendo for once."

Hinata had clashed sword against Axe, gritting his teeth. "Either they really stepped up their strength, or we've gotten seriously weaker..." The blow struck him, though Triple Threat and his counterattack after felled the Fighter.
[Hinata HP: 29 -> 13 Status: Altitude Sickness]
Oboro was having trouble as well. "This isn't good. At all. What're we gonna..."
Then she noticed the snowball. Immediately, she turned to Odin. "Did the cold freeze your brain?!"
Hinata just screamed.
Takumi was livid. "You're going to kill us all, you fucking idi-!"
He didn't get a chance to finish his sentence as the snowball engulfed them all, rolling down the cliffside.
---
Meanwhile, further down...
"...Sister, do you hear something?" Ephraim glanced around.

"Hmm? I do, brother- get to the side." Eirika said, looking up, before giving something a very wide breadth.
A giant snowball tumbled down, releasing its contents: five men and a woman. The practically-topless man in yellow was the first to get to his feet, seemingly unaffected by the fact that they had tumbled several hundred feet down the cold mountain. "Ah-ha! We have escaped! Thank you, great Freyja, for lending your aid to humble Odin, hero of the moment!" This earned him odd looks from everyone nearby.
"Nrgh... agh..." Leo shakily got up, although his breathing seemed more stable than it had been before. Snow fell out of his black armour as he rose to his full height. Mercifully, Brynhildr was completely intact. "I can't believe that actually worked..."
"Miracles never cease, it seems..." Niles responded with a groan, his clothes drenched with melted snow, said substance blending in with his hair.
At this, Eirika cautiously made her way over to the newcomers, utterly baffled. "Are you well, good sirs and lady?"
"Are we well? We are as good as ever, my fair lady! My comrades are my own sworn lord, Prince Leo of the Black Night Kingdom, Nohr; my comrade-in-arms, Niles of the, uh... Swiftest Arrows! And accompanying us on our noble quest to slay the fell cause of all evil are Prince Takumi of the White Night Kingdom, Hoshido; and his loyal retainers, Hinata of the Mightiest Katana, and Oboro, the Spear Fighter with the Face that Even Hell itself fea-"
He was cut off by someone who clearly had no time for his needless dramatic additions.

"I! Think we have gotten more than enough of the picture..." Ephraim had spoken up as Odin had began to wax poetic. ...Wow, this guy reminded him way too much of L'Arachel when she got 'passionate' about something... "So you are royalty as well... Well met then, I suppose, though I've not heard of your kingdoms. I am Ephraim, king of the country of Renais. This is my sister, Eirika. What, pray tell, lead you to... hurtling down a mountainside in a giant... snowball..."
The teal-haired man seemed rather baffled at the sentence he'd just now said himself.
Takumi spoke up first.
"Invisible... invisible soldiers. I know that sounds weird, but trust me, they're no joke. They are very much real and very much hurt..."
