"Water... toast... pretty sure we have oranges in there. Citrus is apparently good for colds." Swift gently ruffled Evan's hair. "You relax, okay? We'll get you up and running again soon. Be right back."
With that, Swift stepped out of the bedroom and back into the kitchen. Andromeda was sitting at the bar, reading something on her phone. When she noticed Swift, she tilted her head and pointed down the hall, to which Swift replied, "Sick. Definitely very sick."
As she popped some bread in the toaster, she continued, "Doesn't seem much worse than a nasty cold, to be fair."

Jen sighed. She might've seen it coming, but it didn't make her feel any less discouraged.
"Poor guy..." Darien mumbled.
"Man..." Patrick groaned. "And we were all gonna go to the mall today, weren't we?"

"Hey, if you guys still wanna go, that's fine by me," Swift insisted. "I can stick around and look after Evan."
"Are you sure?" Ace asked. "By yourself?"
"Compared to all the crazy things this island has to offer, I wouldn't call looking after my sick boyfriend a daunting task," Swift chuckled, waving her companions off. "Don't let us spoil your fun. I'm more than willing to play the role of the maid today."
"Well, that's very generous of you," Aether hummed, impressed but not particularly surprised. Leave it to Evan to bring out Swift's soft side.

"Well, if you or Evan need anything, you let us know, alright?" Jen offered. "Maybe we could pick something up from the pharmacy while we're out."
Ahem.
"Oh! Right!" A mental nudge from Van prompted Patrick to step forward. "Or maybe I could hit him with a little healing spell!"
"Or... that works too," Jen replied vacantly.
Darien rubbed his head. "Forget you can do that sometimes..."

"Oh yeah, that would be a big help!" Swift cheered as she buttered the freshly-popped toast. "C'mon, let's see what he thinks."
With the toast, an orange and a glass of water in hand, Swift made her way back to the bedroom with Patrick by her side. "Hey Evan! Patrick said he can-"

"I'm gonna fix you right up!" Patrick declared as he barged into his sick buddy's room.
"Oh..." Evan breathed, taken aback in the best possible way. "Yeah, I... I hadn't thought about that. Give it a shot, Pat."
"Excellent!" After cracking his knuckles, Patrick raised his hands over Evan and hit him with a blast of purple light. The healing spell swept through him, touching every fiber of Evan's being with its gentle, cleansing flow.
And...
Nothing.
The spell's effects had set in, he could tell that they had... but Evan still felt as sore, stuffy and nauseous as ever.
"W-What?" Patrick stared at his hands. "This usually works."
"Well, I feel slightly more awake, if it's any consolation," Evan weakly offered. "Thanks for trying, though..."

Swift's ears drooped, saddened by the ineffective spell. This strike her as rather odd, however. Patrick's healing spells could undo all sorts of damage, even from wounds that would ordinarily be impossible to recover from. Why did it have no effect on a simple cold?
"Oh well..." she sighed, figuring there was no use in crying over spilled milk. "Guess we'll just have to wait this out naturally."
She then pulled up a chair next to the bed, sat down and set Evan's breakfast on the nightstand. "Gotta start somewhere, so here's your breakfast."

Patrick couldn't help but mope. The one thing he could do right and it wasn't even helping. Sure, Evan was grateful nonetheless, but he hated feeling this useless when his best buddy was so miserable.
"Chin up, Pat," Evan hoarsely insisted. "I'll be fine, I promise. You guys go have fun. I can survive a couple days in bed."
"Alright..." Patrick muttered as he left the room. "I'll bring you something cool, alright?"
"'ppreciate it." Evan smiled up at Swift, slowly adjusting himself into an upright sitting position. "So... you and me today, huh? Sounds nice. I just wish it was under better AHH!!! OW!!!"
As he propped himself up by his elbow, Evan was met with stabbing pain just beneath his arm, immediately leaning back against the bedframe and clutching his throbbing hip.

Swift jumped at Evan's yelp, quickly leaning over to inspect him. "What?! What's wrong?"

"Ahh..." Evan weakly massaged his underarm. The sharp pain had ebbed into a mere dull throb, one that he was starting to notice was affecting both hips. "Sides are hurting. I-I'm okay... Ahem... SNFF..."
Once he was comfortable enough, Evan reached over and gratefully accepted the water Swift had brought him. "Thanks."
A knock on the doorframe brought his attention up to his next visitor, Jen, shooting him a soft grin. "Hey, Ev... You doing alright?"
"Yeah... more or less," Evan sighed, pausing to sip his water.

"He's hanging in there," Swift murmured with an awkward smile. "Pat did his best, but it looks like this boy's just gonna have to stick it out through the merit of old-school TLC."

"Yeah... looks like it," Jen chuckled. "Want me to pick you up some decongestant?"
"That might help, yeah..."
"Alright then. We're taking off in a bit here. You take care, alright, Evan?"
"I'll do my best," Evan replied as his sister disappeared down the hall.
As the rest of their group filed out for a day on the town, Evan settled further into his bed, smiling up at Swift as he nommed on orange slices. "So... seems we're alone. What should we do now?"
---------------------------
"ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..."
It had barely been an hour since breakfast and already Evan was out cold again. Cut him some slack, he definitely needed the rest... but the combination of his congestion and awkward sleeping position made it sound more like there was a bear in the bedroom than a sick kid.

Swift had to grin and shake her head as she listened to Evan snoring up a storm down the hall; it didn't take her canine ears to make it out this time. All the while, she rooted through the cupboards for appropriate meals. The can of chicken noodle soup she had set down on the counter was a given, but what else could she do for him? She had read somewhere that spicy food was good for a cold while ginger was good for an upset stomach. Chinese food, maybe?
"..."
Regardless of her optimistic approach to serving him, Swift still couldn't help but wonder how bad this would get. The symptoms pointed to a cold, but... on an island that housed innumerable things from innumerable worlds, who was to say...?

There came a sudden knock at the door.
.... When Swift got around to answering it, she found two people standing there, a young faced girl wearing a black sleeveless jumpsuit like wear, and another that bore a slight resemblance to Evan. The first girl chuckled and waved to the Hanyo. "Howdy there neighbor~." With a slight magical 'plip!' a void portal opened up and some cookies in a baggie appeared, held up by a bubble like void barrier. "So we're sitting around at home and I can't help but think 'You know what we haven't done yet? Neighborhood gift baskets! And since we knew you guys best, and since I made some extra cookies anyway, I'd see if you guys wanted em~."
Honestly, Erin, That Kunoichi of Void, was really a lot like Alex in many ways, often socially awkward, sometimes quiet. However, where Alex chose to fight this with smarminess and subtle attitude, Erin chose to fight hers in a much more boisterous way, much more willing to act on a whim while Alex himself was often more meticulous. Often this tended to make her the more approachable one between her and her 'brother'.
"So what's going on here Swift~? Anything interesting happenin' today?" She was likely still talking because she wanted to cover for her friend Evelyn, whom she often lovingly nicknamed 'Eevee'. Erin was definitely the more outgoing of the two.

As Erin gleefully offered her baked goods to their neighbor, Evelyn stayed in the background, offering Swift little more than a half-hearted wave and a pathetic attempt at a smile. She certainly wasn't opposed to a little generosity. She just wasn't sure how to go about presenting it herself. Needless to say, she had had very little opportunities for social interaction since entering her session and her subsequent, violent arrival on the island.
Besides... being around her male self's girlfriend... this female... half-wolf Bright... it made the already awkward rogue feel that much more awkward.
