"Wow... Interesting." Swift picked up the empty bottle and smirked. "What is this, like... a synesthesia potion? That's... actually pretty cool! Didn't think Rainflower had it in 'em to make something that cool!"

"Yeah, very cool," Evan muttered, opening his eyes into a deadpan glare. He wasn't exactly annoyed; that could've turned out MUCH worse, after all. He was just frustrated with the situation at large. "Now how about we try again?"
He looked over the remaining three vials, pondering his next course of action. It probably wouldn't have been best to try to predict the potions' effects by smell alone. Knowing Rainflower, any of them could do just about anything, regardless of the ingredients and the scents they produced. Still... it wouldn't have surprised him if the cure turned out to be the least palatable of the bunch. As such, Evan picked up the potion that Swift had labelled with a disgusted emoticon.
Upon removing the stopper, Evan had to wonder what Swift was trying to imply. Sure, it didn't smell the greatest, but it didn't smell repulsive either. It almost reminded him of a pine scent, albeit slightly darker and courser. Very terse, very green and brown.
With a shrug, Evan gulped the potion down.
"!!!!!!!!!!"
As soon as the liquid hit his stomach, Evan dropped the vial and slapped a hand to his mouth. Immediately, he felt nauseous all over again. His gag reflex was going nuts and it was taking everything in his power to suppress it. The longer he did, the stronger the burn in his throat grew. All he could do was sit there, heaving and tearing up, trying his best not to puke the serum back up, until finally he couldn't hold it in anymore, pulling his hand away and violently expelling the contents of his throat.
Those contents, rather than vomit or bile, were expelled in the form of a stream of red hot flames.

"FRICK!!!" Swift jumped back and slammed against a wall, putting as much distance between herself and the flames as possible. From there, she watched in shock as Evan heaved up more fire, wondering somewhere in the middle of it all why they were doing this indoors.

"HAAAAAAAAAACK...! KYA...! COFF... COFF... Blech...!" Evan continued to hack up fireball after fireball until it had finally been purged from his system, leaving him simply coughing up smoke for a moment. As he calmed back down, he noticed that the flames apparently hadn't touched anything in the room. Nothing looked burned or even slightly scorched. Had his trajectory simply been lucky or were these flames completely harmless? If so... what was the point of this potion?! Just to make him suffer?! If so, then color it a success!
He looked up at Swift, hand to his chest, eyes wide and apologetic, quickly reaching for his half-full, room temperature water to quench his burning throat. "S-Sorry..."

Well... that happened.
Upon regaining her composure, putting on a merely baffled expression, Swift sat back down and took a deep breath. "Don't be sorry. You didn't know it was coming. And, uh... hey, at least those first two weren't that bad, huh? Like... no serious alterations at all..."

"Yeah... not that bad..." Evan sighed, coughing a few times before taking a long swig of water. His throat was itchy enough without the smoke irritating it further.
Well, great. Two left. Might as well make it count.
Hoping for the best but bracing himself for the worst, Evan picked up the potion labelled "peaches and cream." Sniffing the potion for himself, he certainly found it to be the most enticing. It really did have a pleasant, sweet yet fruity aroma, and unlike the one before it, the color of the liquid and the color of its scent actually matched up. (God, having synesthesia was weird...) It certainly made the prospect of drinking it easier.
"Ooh..." And upon downing the potion, Evan was pleased to find that its taste delivered on what its aroma promised. A rich, smooth, cream-white flavor beneath a crisp, tangy layer of ripe peach. Absolutely delicious, not to mention refreshing to his dry throat and soothing to his upset stomach. It almost made him lament the miniscule amount that the bottle offered, it was that good.
Come to think of it, he was so wrapped up in the taste that it took him a moment to realize... nothing was happening.
"Huh..."

Swift blinked, certainly confused by the delayed response. Or... possibly the lack thereof? Was this just some normal peach drink? Knowing Rainflower, that was highly unlikely. So what was going on? What did this potion do? The suspense was killing her.
"Maybe... that was the right one?" she spoke up in a feeble attempt at optimism. "Maybe it just works slowly like a normal medicine?"

"Um... Maybe..." Evan muttered, staring at his hands, having virtually no idea how to react to this development. "Seems strange that Rainflower would make a potion with such subtle effects. I-I was honestly expecting searing pain or... at least something akin to feeling like my body's made of Jell- HRK!!!"
There it was.
Evan hunched over, eyes wide and every arm wrapped around his waist as his stomach suddenly began to violently churn. Once again, the need to vomit welled up inside him, but this time it didn't immediately rise to the surface. It just tossed and turned in the pit of his stomach, as if his intestines were tying themselves in knots. He tightly curled inward, groaning and clutching his abdomen in a vain attempt at soothing the discomfort, but still his gut continued to lurch. The longer it went on, the more it felt like he was bubbling inside, like the fluids in his body were boiling.
Finally, after what felt like a painfully long time, all that tension inside was released in a single, prolonged, noisy belch.
Evan slapped a hand over his mouth, eyes wide, body stiff, four lower arms still clutching his waist. He looked at Swift, properly startled and embarrassed by the potion's effects. However, he quickly started to relax and question what just happened. All that buildup, all that distress, for THAT? Simple gas? Evan felt like he should've been irritated, but... for some reason, he just had to laugh at the whole ordeal.
"Eh... heheheh... heheh..." He slowly pulled his hand away and bashfully grinned at Swift. "Uh... Sorry about that. I, uh... I wasn't expecting GAH!!!"
He hunched up again when he felt his stomach heave once more.
Or... did it just... bulge?
Evan looked down at himself, his shocked expression slowly turning to one of mortification. Beneath his extra arms, he could feel his stomach swelling. When he pulled his arms away, sure enough, he could see his shirt stretching outward as his waist rapidly distended.
"Oh God..."

"..........................."
Swift's eyes widened while her ears folded back. Slowly, uneasily, she stood back up and backed away from the bed, staring at Evan in complete and utter disbelief.

"Oh God, no...! NO NO NO NO NO NO...!" Evan scrambled to the head of the bed as if anxiously trying to get away from his own growing gut. From there, he could only watch helplessly as his waist continued to bloat, his stomach gurgling and groaning as it expanded at an alarming rate. Soon enough, it wasn't just his abdomen and torso, as Evan, much to his horror, discovered that his arms and fingers were also thickening to similar proportions; without even looking, he could feel his thighs and even his face following suit. Eventually it got to the point where his body had swollen so much that his shirt and boxers couldn't contain it, eliciting pained yelps out of Evan as the garments tightened around him until they were ripping apart at the seams.
He closed his eyes. He couldn't watch this anymore. All he could do was pray that this wasn't happening to him while the bubbling sensation in his stomach did everything in its power to refute him.
It felt like an eternity. An eternity spent stretching and expanding. But finally it stopped, the discomfort inside ebbing and his body settling.
Evan hesitated. He didn't want to know what he looked like. He really, really didn't want to know. Regardless, once he felt as braced as he possibly could've been, he slowly, warily cracked a few eyes open and looked down.
He choked back a shudder, flinching at the sight of his massive girth. At a glance, he could only assume that his bloated form easily doubled... maybe even close to tripled his weight. Whatever the case was, one thing was certain: between the substantial weight gain and the extra, spiderlike appendages, Evan felt absolutely disgusting.
"Ohhhhh God...!"
In a panic, Evan looked up at Swift, then down at himself again. Then, with a clear amount of strain, he reached down, pulled up the bed sheets and buried himself beneath them. "OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOOOOOD...!!!"

"E-Evan...!" Despite the shock, despite how startled she was by Evan's transformation, Swift still found it in her to approach his bedside and anxiously attempt to assuage his fears. She couldn't let his appearance get the better of her. She had to keep it together. She had to stay positive for his sake.
But... wow... even beneath the cover of his sheets... dang it if Evan wasn't... um... big.
"C-Calm down. It's not that bad..."

"NOT THAT BAD?!!" Evan roared in spite of his sore throat, eyes blazing, teeth gritted, hands tightly holding the sheets to his neck while his lower arms clutched his stomach. "SWIFT, THIS IS...! I D...! I'M...! I J...! WHY?!! WHAT THE HECK WOULD COMPEL RAINFLOWER TO MAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS?!! THIS IS... REVOLTING!!! IT'S...!"
Unable to muster the words to describe how he felt, Evan grabbed a pillow and shoved his face into it, his voice muffled as he proceeded to scream at the top of his lungs.

"Evan... Evan, c'mon...!" Swift worriedly shouted over his tantrum. "I-It's okay! It could be worse! A-At least you're still human! You... You just...! You don't look that...! You're gonna... Um..."
It was pretty clear that her attempts at consolation weren't getting through to him as he continued to scream into his pillow. Realizing this, Swift sat down with a dejected sigh, patted Evan's shoulder and averted her gaze. He probably couldn't hear her, but regardless, she muttered, "Alright then... Let it out... It's fine..."
In all fairness, she understood completely why Evan was so upset. This weight gain was a very jarring change. Not as startling as the spider attributes, but one that could easily be viewed as a detriment to one's body image. Not horrific. Just highly embarrassing. She couldn't fault him for taking it so hard.
Knowing this didn't exactly make Swift feel any less guilty for inflicting this upon him...

It was a good, long while before Evan's wails turned into short, frustrated grunts, then finally went silent altogether. At that point, he tried to curl inward but found himself unable to fully lift his legs to his chest with his stomach in the way, instead simply leaning forward with the pillow falling between his chest and knees. From there, he stared down at the sheets covering his swollen body, utterly crestfallen and nearly on the verge of tears.
"I..." It was clear from the first word that Evan had practically screamed his already hoarse voice out. "I feel... gross." He looked at his upper arms, still covered in long, bristly hair, but now also thicker and flabbier and topped with sausage fingers. "Just... big and gross..."

"I... I know, Evan..." Swift mumbled, continuing to rub his shoulder despite finding it difficult to look directly at him. Figuring he'd need it, she grabbed his water glass and offered it to him. "I know... I... I'm sorry... I'm sorry that I let this happen... I-I really don't know what to say to make you feel better. But... But at least you're still you, right? And..."
She then picked up the sole remaining potion, hesitantly offering it to Evan as well. "At least we know... which one's the cure now. Might as well fix one problem while we still can..."
