"That's the spirit! Sort of! I guess!" Well, it was Natalie, and the fact that she was now willingly involved in this insanity was good enough for Swift. "Don't you worry about a thing, Nat! We're gonna wipe these freaks off the face of existence before you can say 'well, that happened'!"
She put her hands on her hips and once again addressed the angel. "So... they fall from the sky, they eat, they pupate. Guess that means we oughta kill 'em before we can see what they pupate into. But, uh... who exactly is this 'support'? When are they getting here? And for that matter, where did Patrick and Ace go?"

Evan looked between the two girls with a calm smile and a glimmer of hope. Yes, this was a grandiose mission they were taking on, and yes, it was sort of a strange way to reunite the trio... but he knew they could handle it. They had combatted plenty of odd creatures and villainous forces before, both solo and as a team. What was stopping them from doing it again? This was what the NES did: tackled the impossible.
Although, hearing Swift mention Patrick and Ace did catch his attention. "Yeah, I haven't seen 'em for a few hours. Did they run off to cover some other part of the island?"
"That they did," Kendall elaborated. "They're currently working to clear the creatures out of the eastern villages. So like I said, my advice for you would be to spread out and exterminate as many as you can find as far as you can reach."
"Got it."
"I'll try to keep in contact with you as much as I can... but..."
Evan smirked knowingly. "You got something else you need to do?"
"It has everything to do with this mission! Trust me!" Kendall raised his hands defensively. "After all this blows over, I can time-hop back to whenever you're in dire need of my assistance, but throughout the course of this week, I really am going to have to wholly devote my energy to this."

Well, it certainly seemed like Kendall hadn't changed much. Always the informant, never the fighter. Always off to work his magic behind the scenes. Natalie supposed she couldn't ask for much any other way, but... he still hadn't answered Swift's question about this supposed new arrival who held the information they needed, something she was kind of anxious to know considering how little she presently understood about the situation.
But, knowing Kendall, this "support" was bound to arrive soon enough. He was one to foreshadow, yes, but Natalie couldn't say that Kendall was one to keep her in suspense. At least not for very long.
Wait... THIS WEEK?

Swift sighed and shrugged. "So I guess we'll just have to wait and see who else is gonna join this party, huh? At least Pat and Ace are already a few steps ahead of us on the extermination front." Her smile returned. "And hey, at least we're not to only ones with the power to stop these things. There are plenty of people on the island who can handle themselves in a fight."
She nodded to Kendall. "So, I guess everything's settled, huh? Your cue to go... do whatever it is you do when you're not directly aiding us in a crisis?"

"It would seem that way," Kendall mused with a deep breath, casting a glance at the sky before grinning to the trio. "I'm not sure what else to tell you that wouldn't be dipping into clichés, so... don't you three worry about a thing. Just do what you always do... or at least whatever you feel inclined to do, and you'll get through this just fine."
Evan couldn't help but notice the awkward look Kendall was giving him in particular.
"So hang tight! I'll see you guys soon!" With that said, Kendall spread his wings and took to the rust red sky, quickly disappearing over the horizon.
Evan quietly watched him go for a moment, then took a deep breath, mustered a smile and said, "Alright. The NES on another mission to stop the monster of the week and save the world. All things considered, including all the previous things we just discussed, I guess there could be worse circumstances to base a reunion around."
He turned to cast a bold grin at the girls. "Ain't no stopping us now, huh?"

Natalie couldn't help but stare at the horizon nervously as Kendall made his departure. So they either had a week to save the island and their universe... or they would manage to pull it off in a week by their own merit. Either one sounded intimidating for completely different reasons.
But hearing Evan's peppy tone... seeing Swift's energetic smile... Natalie couldn't help but be infected by their enthusiasm. Because yeah, this really was more or less like old times, circumstances aside. Even if she still had a LOT of catching up to do, she had certainly been given reason to believe they would pull this off. Or at the very least, the faith that they could.
"Yeah, we're... we're doing this, huh?" she chuckled somewhat breathlessly. "So... wow. Where the heck do we begin?"

"Hell yeah, let's DO this, guys!" Swift howled, pumping a fist and leaping for joy. "FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK IN ACTION!"
She excitedly looked between her teammates. "Hey, why don't we stop back at the apartment real quick? Without Patrick around, you and I are gonna need some firepower, Evan, and I got plenty of elemental soul crystals to do the trick! Then we divide and conquer as many of these bugs as we can find!"

Evan chuckled at Swift's adorable burst of energy and Natalie's equally adorable awkwardness. Yes, this was definitely going to work out for the best. "Sounds like a plan to me! And while we're on the move, might as well see who else wants to join the cause. Even a little help will go a long way."

"Yeah. Can't argue with that," Natalie breathed, still smiling despite herself.
Well... no sense in delaying the inevitable any longer. Things had already fallen pretty smoothly into place in such a short span of time; she had to believe they would continue to do so. After all, with Kendall there to ensure the stability of the timelines of both the island and her home, with Evan and Swift there to carry the weight, and with an island full of potential allies, she was sure they could get through this with relative ease.
"........."
Still... looking at that cloud... at the infinite expanse beyond it... Natalie might've been willing to endure it, but she wasn't too excited to see what it would drop on them next.
