"Mic... Mic... you can wake up now..."
Having noticed the sparks, Liderc followed them to their origin point, finding a knocked-out Mic and an out-of-commission power generating plant. Sighing, he had taken the little angel to a now-empty building; he guessed it was a propaganda-spread tower. Oh well. They'd certainly be getting propaganda soon. "Okay. Don't hate me for this." Raising an arm, he covered it in vaguely cobalt-tinged energy and placed it to Mic's chest, allowing the energy to flow into the little angel's body.
Immediately after doing so, Liderc placed his hands over where his ears would have been. "Yes, good light cycle to you too, Mic. Glad to know you're still alive. Report? Anything we should be aware of before we fire the DNA Cannons?"

"Zzzzzzzzzz... Sergei... Korolev... Wernher von Braun... snrt, Saturn 5... guh... Huh...?"
Mic jerked awake, ruby eyes darting about as he tried to figure out where he was. And why. And when. He didn't recognize this room, but it took him a while to figure out why he felt so out of place here. Oh right, because he fell asleep in the electrical grid. Was he successful in cutting off the power? He honestly couldn't remember. How long had he been out? How did...?
His gaze eventually landed on the Prasino standing above him.
"KERUV!"
Mic sprang to his feet, saluted Liderc for all of half a second, then immediately jumped to the point, pacing about and waving his hands excitedly all the while. "SIR, OH MY GOLLY, SIR, THIS PAUL GUY IS SO FASCINATING! Paul being the dragon man! I met him! I talked with him! He was actually born a human! But he has the reincarnated soul of a dragon! And all that sealed up power caused him to take on draconic attributes to make up for his human body's incompatibility! Apparently he didn't even know he could breathe lightning until he hit you with it! Er, that is, uh... D-Don't worry, he doesn't know I'm an angel! But if I stick with him a little while longer, I might be able to-!"

"That! Is enough about the dragon man." Liderc held up a palm, cutting off Mic. "I'm more concerned about that demonic girl. ... I don't like that expression. Well, Mic? Is there anything else I should know about her? No, I'm not concerned about origins. I'm more concerned about what she can do and what her plans are, assuming she has any..."
Faint wingbeats went unnoticed. "Regardless... good work last night. The power's out in most of the city now. Maybe, just maybe, this will show that surrendering was wise, and that they were rude to turn down my generous surrender terms..." Flipping his hair, Liderc smirked. "Oh, I'm going to enjoy hearing her scream. Music to my acoustic holes..."

"Thank you, sir...!" Mic squeaked shrilly, as if Liderc's appreciation for him doing the job he was asked to do was the greatest compliment in the world.
Mic then cleared his throat and tilted his head. "Oh, Kelsey?" He resumed his pace, his tone a bit more serious despite his ever-curious grin. "Well, it turns out she absorbed the soul of one of our own and he gave her a pretty solid lowdown on how our society works. Nothing about plans or strategies; it sounds like he was only a Plasmis with no access to those greater details. Paul seems to think Kelsey intends to take more souls so she can increase her power and build an angel army of her own."

At the mention of this Kelsey girl planning to absorb the souls of angels and make an army of slaves, Liderc's skin went paler than normal and he gulped slightly. "W-Well... that's... unsettling..." Coughing, some of the colour returned to his face. "Thank you for reporting that troubling detail to me. I suppose it's time to call in the clones. ... Oh, don't give me that look. You know they don't have souls like us organics, so there's nothing for her to gain. And because, with the exception of the Perdixes, they don't have real personalities, can you really mourn them?"
After hearing out Mic, Liderc motioned towards the spiral-designed cannon. "I'd keep some distance from this, Mic. To quote Return to Your Time, you're gonna see some serious shit." Humming to himself, he pressed some buttons on a screen. "No, I don't want to hit him... or her... ah, there she is... Au revoir, satan spawn!"
A beam, initially a grey spiral, fired from the mouth of the cannon, turning pinkish as it grew further. It phased through anything in its way as though it were a phantom, locked on one specific person...

"Yeah, that's what I said... Just kind of an intense course of action. As much as I'd hate to see good bio-mechanical specimens go to waste, I agree, that may be a prudent decision." Mic awkwardly grinned and shrugged. "...Granted, that won't be much of a problem soon, right?"
He took a few steps aside, watching with bated breath and arms folded behind his back as Liderc started up the cannon. He'd always wanted to see one of these babies in action, but now that he was here, waiting for this device to obliterate a young woman, Mic was actually kind of nervous, and he couldn't even adequately explain why. Still, he maintained a smile, albeit a slightly lopsided one, his body going rigid the moment that dual-coiled cannon released its burst of grey light.
Sorry, Paul...
---------------------------
"Well... great..."
Kelsey clearly had no shame sitting down in the hotel lobby in her pajamas. She was in far too foul a mood to be embarrassed. The whole building was still without power after last night's out outage, meaning neither her room or the hotel kitchen had a functioning coffee pot. Considering the rotten day she had yesterday, waking up without her morning fix wasn't improving matters.
"Aw, come on," Tri chided as he casually lounged next to her. "Pull yourself together, kiddo. You don't need that nasty-a** bean juice to get energized."
"Easy for you to say," Kelsey grumbled as she stared out at the dismal grey city. "You don't get tired, you don't sleep, and all you eat is pain and suffering."
"And it does wonders for my figure. You, though? Just move around a little," Tri insisted, bouncing in his seat. "That'll wake you up. Help you shake off those angelic blues. Hopefully keep you from completely falling apart."
"Tri, today's bound to be physically and emotionally exhausting enough. Can't I have just one moment of peace?"
"Pfft~ Not in this lifetime. Seriously, though, you should consider taking a little flight. Getting some blood flowing. Getting away from all this angel bulls*** for a little while."
"No thanks."
"Ugh..." Tri slumped, scowling at nothing in particular. Then he floated around so he was staring his partner in the face. "Kelsey, I don't think you're catching on, so how about this? For the sake of keeping your tight, pasty, Friendship is Magic-pantied a** intact, I order you to go for a walk."
"Order...?" At first, Kelsey's tone was one of offense at Tri's demand. She knew she should've known better than to question her master's instructions, but she was agitated enough without Tri snapping at her to do something so mundane. Then again... whenever Tri outright ordered her to do something, there was generally a good reason for it, even if he was being frustratingly vague about it.
Wait, keeping intact...?
Kelsey slowly sat up straight, her eyes warily flicking back and forth. "Something I need to move and get away from, maybe?"
"Ideally, yes."
"Angels?"
"Nah, just one of the things you were told they could try to kill you with."
Her eyes widened the moment the information came rushing back. "When?"
"NOW."
Immediately, Kelsey sprang out of her seat and bolted out the hotel's front door. Her feet hit the sidewalk, her wings burst from her back, and with a mighty leap, she took to the air, hastily carrying herself above the skyline. "WHERE AM I GOING?!"
"Head eastward!" Tri shouted, flying alongside her with a bold smirk.
Kelsey adjusted herself as instructed, making a beeline for the east, wings flapping swiftly and powerfully in an effort to build up speed. "IS IT ON ME?!"
"Coming in at six o'clock!"

The beam picked up speed, sensing the presence of the girl it was locked on. It went through buildings with no damage to itself nor the structures, intent on getting at its target. When it saw (for a lack of better words) Kelsey, it spiraled, picking up speed alongside her, its energy could be felt...
---
"Well, I'm having fun, what about you?" If Liderc noticed Mic's discomfort, he certainly wasn't paying it any heed. "You've always wanted to see it in motion, yes? Well, here you go." Taking out his sending stone, he spoke into it. "Commander Shamash to platoon. Get ready to move out. Horus, is the order in place? ... Noted. Okay, Sinann, time to emerge with your-"
A roar came out of the stone. After pausing, Liderc spoke into it again. "... Sinann, report. What was that?" Screaming, accompanied by another roar. "... You don't think it's her, is it? No, that can't be. Humans are generally asleep at this hour-"
More screams came from the stone, accompanied by a frantic "H-help! Monster!"
... Liderc placed the stone down, catching his breath. "... Okay. Mic. Is there some kind of monster I should be aware of?"

Kelsey spared only a brief glace over her shoulder at the spiral of pink light tailing her. Then she faced forward again and desperately flapped onward, the city quickly disappearing behind her as she soared closer and closer to the eastern forests, her course taking on a slight zigzag in what she had a sinking feeling was a vain attempt at shaking the beam. "Triiiii! I could really use some advice here! How likely are the chances of this thing toasting my vital organs?!"
"I'd say very."
"Then what the hell am I supposed to do?!"
"Right now, just keep flying!" Tri looked back at the pink light as it dipped and dived in sync with Kelsey. "Try to get a little more distance! Get some wind beneath those wings, girl!"
"I'm going as fast as I can, Tri!!!" Kelsey snarled irately.
"Well, let the breeze carry you the rest of the way! Ride like the wind, the f*** away from this flurry!"
Kelsey turned a livid scowl on her doppelganger. "Tri, can you save the cagey metaphors for when I'm NOT in a life-or-death situat-?!"
"OH, PISS IN THE STYX, USE YOUR NEW POWERS!!!"
"...!" The angel soul she absorbed...
Not even knowing of this would work, Kelsey threw her arms out, letting her internal energy build up like she was trying to conjure fire. Rather than let it heat up and explode out of her, though, she released it in one powerful sweep as if her entire body was letting out a deep sigh of relief.
With a high-pitched whistle, a mighty gale surrounded Kelsey, catching beneath her wings, pushing her onward like a tiny leaf in the most powerful wind. Her brown curls flapped wildly and her glare turned stone cold as she rode on the storm in a calm fury, simultaneously steering the zephyr and letting herself be steered by it. Little by little, the pink spiral became little more than a glowing dot behind her...
---------------------------
"Yeah, this is a... very intriguing piece of equipment," Mic mused, regardless of whether or not Liderc was listening to him by that point. "I, uh... I was once given the opportunity to view one particular model's schematics, but the people in charge of them told me that if I tried to design any modifications, they would insert a socket wrench into my-"
The scream emanating from Liderc's sending stone promptly shut him up, the little yellow angel staring wide-eyed and tight-lipped at the commander. The roars and the cries of a monster caught him equally off guard, and when Liderc questioned him about it, Mic leaned back slightly with dread and innocently responded, "Paul didn't say anything about that."

"... Okay. I think it's going to emerge any second now." Taking a moment to inhale and steel himself, Liderc whipped towards the wall they were facing, naginata in one hand and a green fireball in the other. He cursed his cowardice, how could he be unnerved by the mere presence of an unknown enemy?! "Mic, if you have something, get it out. Otherwise, prepare to fly away." The wall shook. "I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to flee from whatever's behind that wall. After all, it got Sinann, Horus, and I'm going to assume more..." The wall shook again, a crack forming.
Then it broke, revealing the creature behind it...
Reflected in Liderc's eye was a grey, quadruped beast, easily several times larger than him, feathered wings displaying a galactic sea, talons and teeth stained with red, yellow, and green blood. It gave an approximation of a smirk, tossing bloodied feathers at the angels' feet.

Liderc let out a scream of mixed fear and anger, tossing the fireball at the beast's eye.

"HIIIIIGHWAAAAAY TOOOOO THEEEEE... DANGER ZOOOOONE~!"
"STOP ENJOYING THIS!!!"
"Oh, lighten up!" Tri chided as he sped like a bullet through the breeze alongside Kelsey. "You're doing great!"
"Yeah, it's further back now, but I don't see how I'm supposed to SHAKE IT!" Kelsey snapped. She soared above Bonsai Village, appearing as little more than a pale blur jetting across the sky, her winds stirring up trees and terraces with little regard for the mess they made in their wake.
"Just keep going!" Tri insisted. "We're almost there!"
"ALMOST WHERE?!"
"THERE!"
Kelsey followed Tri's finger, staring ahead at the blurry sea of trees passing by below them. When she couldn't find any distinguishing landmarks among the flora, her eyes landed on the horizon. And it was then that Kelsey noticed that the horizon was getting closer to them...
"HOLY S***...!!!"
"AWW YEAH, YOU KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING!"
Sooner than she would've liked, the seemingly endless ocean of green came to an abrupt end. The deafening sound of her winds stirring through the branches died down to little more than a low whistle. Just like that, the island was gone, nothing but infinite blackness surrounding Kelsey on all sides.
"NOW DIVE!" Tri hollered. "DIVE, DIVE, DIVE!"
Closing her eyes, regret welling up in her chest, Kelsey folded her wings against her back and let the air around her go still, sending herself into a sharp descent along the sheer cliff face of the island's edge.
---------------------------
"Eep."
Mic sunk so low that he nearly fell flat on his back, staring slack-jawed up at the beast that had just torn through the wall like it was paper. For a moment or two, the little guy simply stood there petrified, the world around him going blurry and melting into varying shades of red, yellow and green, until eventually the pounding in his chest jolted him back into action.
Without giving it much thought, Mic threw himself between Liderc and the monster. Bright blue flames like Bunsen burner fire sparked to life in his hands. His expression was intense; fiery passion and spontaneous vigilance, trying desperately and failing miserably to mask the panic.
"D-DON'T-DON'T YOU TOUCH HIM!!!"

Proto growled at this little angel getting in the way of its true prey, dodging Liderc's green fireball, before grabbing Mic by the head. Bringing the yellow angel to its face, it roared directly into Mic's face, before tossing the tiny annoyance aside into a wall. Disregarding whatever it would do after, Proto grabbed Liderc before the green angel could react, slamming him against another wall. "̩͚̺̱̣̜͎͝S̕C̘͚̬͕̞̥͈U̧͙M͕̹͕̤̘ͅ.̛̙̪̲̯̟̦͍.̮̮̻.̵̩ ̞̫̝͎̝̫̬K͎͇͖͜I̟̗̪L̠͉̜͖͙L!̠̗̜̜̲̀ ̭̫̺͓͉͚͟K̞̱̣̰̜͟ͅI̫̫̞̟L̯̝̩L͙͚̺͇̳!̥̥͝ ҉̗̝̲̳͍KI̹̙͚̬͙͢ͅL͡L͉̪!̵̱̞͉̤̮̥!̹"̶̞͓̙
With a mighty roar, Proto began to drag Liderc face-first along the wall, relishing his screams, smashing through a wall, grinding the green angel along the building...

"Ugh! I can't sleep with all this fucking racket!!"
After his fruitless search for the beast, Jordan had returned to Club Lobazotah in a rather agitated mood. It was just one fuckin' headache after another. Second, no before-bed coffee because some idiot killed the power. And now, he heard screaming and roaring. "I swear, whoever's doin' that is getting a katana up their ass!"
Under the cover of the early dawn, Jordan ran towards the source of the noise, some kind of tower, katana drawn and ready to slice at a moment's notice. Upon seeing... the beast drag a green angel down the building's exterior, he paused, opting instead to watch with morbid curiosity.
"Okay, I dunno what's goin' on, but I'm just gonna wait and see..."

The wind stung Kelsey's face as she dropped like a rock into the void. Trying her best not to flatten herself out and slow her descent, she looked up (well, down from her perspective) to see the pink light streaking along the cliff wall, steadily growing bigger in her sight.
"Okay..." she stated bluntly, her voice still slightly shaking from her rattled nerves. "What was the plan from here?"
"Simple," Tri responded, lounging casually in his free-fall. "Just hock a loogie at the wall."
Kelsey sharply turned to face Tri, her mouth agape and her eyebrow raised in an irate, unmistakable are-you-serious look. "YOU FORCED ME TO FLY ALL THE WAY OUT HERE WHEN I COULD'VE JUST SPAT ON THE DAMN THING?!"
"Patience, my child. All things happen for a rea-PFFT! HA HA...! Yeah, no, I couldn't say that with a straight face! NOW SPIT, DAMN YOU! SPIT-SPOT! LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SPAT BEFORE!"
Kelsey couldn't help but let out an enraged snarl. "IF THAT BLAST DOESN'T READ THIS, I'M BLAMING YOU! HHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKK... Pfft-!!!"
"............" Tri could only stare blankly at Kelsey, utterly dumbfounded by the sight of her releasing a mouthful of saliva and managing only to splatter it across her own face. "Wow. That... may actually be the most pathetic display I've ever seen."
"BITE ME, DICAPRIO!" Kelsey furiously screamed as she wiped her face clean. "ANY OTHER BRIGHT IDEAS?!"
"Well, Plan B was the 127 Hours route."
"W..?!" It didn't take long for Kelsey to figure out what Tri was suggesting. "No! No, you are NOT SERIOUS!"
"Hey, we both know that thing's not gonna stop until it hits the DNA sample it's coded to!" Tri argued back. "So do yourself a favor and GIVE IT SOME!"
With an angry, mortified growl, Kelsey let her fangs elongate and sharpen. Then, wanting to get the ordeal over with, she raised her left arm and sunk her teeth into her wrist, her cries of agony muffled by the skin and blood that quickly filled her mouth. Rather than release her grip and retreat from the pain, Kelsey cringed from the sensation, her jaw tightening, her teeth slowly attempting to clamp together into an anguished grimace. Finally, with a loud SNAP, her fangs broke through the bone, and in a spray of crimson blood so dark it was nearly black, her left hand detached from her arm and dropped into her right.
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! F***!!! F***!!!"
Once her mouth was free, the first thing Kelsey did was scream into the abyss. Then she spun around and, with another pained F-bomb, hurled the bloody severed limb at the spiral of pink light. Then she spread her wings out and swooped beneath the underside of the island.
---------------------------
WHAP
Mic smacked into a wall, remaining plastered there with his face squished against the surface while the monster had its way with Liderc. By the time Mic peeled off and slumped onto the floor in a distinctly cartoony manner, they had already smashed through another wall and disappeared outside, though he could still clearly here the crashing and screaming from where he lay.
"AAH, DOGGONED DOOFERS...!" Mic scrambled onto his grabby fronds and low appendage midpoints, looking around to find that the room had gone blurry. He desperately felt around on the floor until he found his glasses, thankfully managing not to step on them this time. Then he anxiously looked to the hole in the wall that hadn't been there prior to his face-plant.
"K-KERUV!!!" Thinking quickly, fearing for his commander's life, Mic reached inside his coat and procured something that looked like a cattle prod with the bendable neck of a desktop lamp attached to a wristband. After snapping it onto his right upper appendage, Mic charged through the wall and took flight after the beast. "I'M COMING!!!"

[TARGET ACQUIRED]
The pink beam made contact with the severed appendage, obliterating it upon impact at once. Its mission accomplished, the beam itself also dissolved into nothing, not noticing the mostly-intact demon girl flying away from the blast site...
---
Meanwhile, the beast continued dragging Liderc down with it, scraping the angel alongside the building, relishing the pained sounds this chirping annoyance was making. "̶̟̰͉̝̰̭D̗͠I̜̞Ẹ̡̘̯̫̮̯!̩͔͠ Ḓ́I̬̞E̗͖!͍̖ ̶̹̪ͅD̵͈̤I̡̬E͖͇͉̠̪̹̪!͉"͈͓ It paid no heed to the little angel that followed it, nor of the new arrival...
"... It... it can talk?" Okay, this was a genuine surprise for Jordan. He figured it was just some mindless creature, but that it could talk? ... Well, he had to give this island some credit. It was more exciting than back home. "Why do I feel like I've heard that voice before, though...?"

Heart pounding, lungs gasping for air, Kelsey looked back to find that the pink light was no longer following her. She couldn't even see any telltale drops of blood or flakes of skin from her severed hand. Finally, it seemed like there was nothing behind her but the infinite blackness.
"WHEW! Now how's THAT for a wake up call?!" Once he had Kelsey's attention, Tri gleefully offered her a hand. "Nice work, hotshot! High five!"
"F*** off."
"Heh. Yeah, okay, I deserved that one." Tri shrugged off that exchange, then he charged ahead of Kelsey, leading her onward as they flew beneath the floating island. "C'mon. I know a place where we can cool down for a while."
Kelsey shot a wary glance at the back of Tri's head, taking a brief moment to look over her shoulder again and confirm that she was indeed in the clear. She so desperately wanted to go back and give those homicidal angels taste of their own medicine, but her arm was still very much in very real pain, never mind the fact that she was genuinely reeling from that near-death experience. She needed a moment of peace now more than ever.
It might just be the last one she could get in a while.
---------------------------
"C'mon c'mon c'mon...!" Mic dove after the monster, his high appendage outstretched with the dual-pronged end of his invention pointed at the beast's rear end. He folded his wings back in a desperate attempt to speed up his descent, and sure enough, the pointed tips jabbed into the rough hide...
There was a spark. For a split second, Mic's face and a calming sensation washed over the monster's mind.
Then, with a significantly larger spark, the device burned out, an electric current travelling down its neck, melting through the metal, and finally snapping it in half.
"GAH! SHOOT!" Mic frantically waved his grabby front, but thankfully, the electricity didn't touch him. The wristband part was noticeably warm; it probably would've scalded his skin if not for his fire affinity. Still, as Mic watched half of his invention clatter to the ground below, he sighed with disappointment and verbally made a mental note. "Obedience Rod is buggy..."
Oh well. No use crying over spare parts. The Keruv still needed saving! As such, with his hands once again ablaze, Mic grabbed onto the beast's tail and flapped his wings in an effort to reverse their direction, his lackluster strength be damned.

As Proto dragged Liderc down, it felt something touch it. An image flashed in its mind, an angel with a happy face and glasses, accompanied by a feeling of calmness. For a moment, its grip on Liderc loosened. It gave a growl in confusion... before resuming its drag. "̶͎̣͔ͅẂ̰͇͔H̥̠̻̝͓͓O̹?̶͔̣̹̪ ̛͙̺̦.̟̮.̸̲.̤͈̟̜̘͉͟ N̨̜̜̤O̸̹͚̻̖̱.̭̬͈̦̙̻.̛.̘̰̳ ͔̼̮͕N̡͍͈͙O̭̭͉ ̤M̟̜̳A̳̟͔̫͎T̡̻̠̫͈̥͇T͕E̴̳͙̗̲ͅͅR̮̺̟̠̜.̝̫̺̥̯̲̻͠.́.͎̞̖̖̠̕ͅ"̼̪͙̰̜͟
Noting the loosened grip, Liderc allowed his form to break down, his body becoming smoke in the monster's grip, slipping away. A hand materialized out of the smoke, grabbing Mic and flying upward, away from the monster, towards the top of the tower. Once they were at the top, Liderc reformed his body, scowling at the cracks down his armour and clothing, and the green stains. "... I don't know what you did or what it was supposed to be, but you may have just saved my life."
Proto roared, searching for its prey. Its wings unfurled and it clawed at the ground, not seeing where Liderc had gone. "͉̤͈͕̞W̭͔͎H͉͚͙͚̺E̺̝̤̘R͎͚E̹̘͇̖̥̯̹ ̤̙̻̠̻̕G̴͈̖O̻̣̮̮͠?͓̣ ͓̭̀C͇̺̜͕͠A͉͓N̮̥͉͍̥͠ ͖NͅO̠̩̘̘̰̥̙͢T̸͍̝̣͔.̢.͇͎̖͟. ̨̤̱̲H̵͚ͅI̩͈̠̠̳D͚E̟͕̝͠.̛͕͕̥̦.͉͍̕.͟ F̭̕O͍͎͕Ṟ̣͉͘E͈̘͚̤̦͖͔V̵̦̪̜E̜̠̗̩̠͔̖R͉͚̣̹̣̖!̮͉̣̤͍̭͚"̩̝̗̠̠
"Yes I can."
Proto roared again, prompting Liderc to drag Mic behind another part of the tower, not moving until the beast had taken off, away from the angels. Once he was certain it was gone, Liderc allowed himself to deeply sigh. "... Okay... I suppose I'm going to have to take drastic measures. Mic, find me the Goetia de Tannin. If you have any objections, shove them up your nutrition hole."
