Height: 2' 3" when on all fours
Weight: 100 lbs.
Gender: Male
Race: Bernese Mountain Dog

Franchise: Unusual Tales from Summer Snow Valley (Original Story)
Physical Description
Carter looks like any ordinary Bernese Mountain Dog; he has a thick, black, white and rust brown coat and a long, muscular body. He also has a subtle scar on his muzzle. He often wears a red collar with standard dog tags and a compartment to hold the Paramount Key when no one else is holding it.
Weapons
He's a dog. He doesn't need weapons other than his teeth and claws! There is the Paramount Key, but that's Evan's to wield.
Abilities/Powers
Carter is immortal. He cannot age physically, he can't get sick, and he can't be killed. He has an accelerated healing factor; minor cuts or bruises heal in minutes, serious injuries in hours, and if he's fatally wounded, he'll remain comatose for a day or two while his body heals, then wake up good as new. He shares a mental connection with the Paramount Key and is able to sense its location should it get lost or stolen. This connection extends to the Keymaster, currently Evan, with whom Carter can communicate.
Skills
Being the working dog he is, Carter is strong, fast and hard to wear out. He's also highly intelligent on a human level.
Personality
At heart, Carter is very much a typical dog. He has a calm temperament and is typically good-natured, well-behaved and friendly towards those who are friendly to him. When he's motivated, he can't be stopped, and he's determined to fulfill his duty and protect those he cares about. He has the capacity to be sarcastic and teasing, sometimes even grumpy, but never maliciously so. Nonetheless, being the immortal Guardian of the key has had its impact on him; at times, especially when he's alone, Carter can become rather depressed and somber.
History
Carter was raised in the 14th century in a historically-lost kingdom called Gold River. His owners were the Highfield brothers, one a locksmith named Dane, one a wizard named Rowan; both were the best Gold River had to offer. When a war began between Gold River and the rival kingdom of Cedarwood, a soldier came to the brothers and asked them to craft a master key that could unlock any door or gate, claiming it would be used to penetrate Cedarwood's defenses. The brothers agreed and forged the Paramount Key, the ultimate master key. When the soldier came to claim it, Carter realized and revealed to the brothers that the soldier was a demon in disguise. Desperate to get his hand on the key, the demon struck down Rowan.
In his dying moments, Rowan placed half of his soul in the Paramount Key and the other half in Carter, then sent both away to a parallel universe. Here, Carter reunited with this universe's version of Dane, as he was one of very few people who had alternate versions in both this and Carter's home universe. They quickly discovered that the piece of Rowan's soul in the key granted it greater magical abilities, allowing it to lock or unlock literally anything, and because the key's magic came from Carter's universe, only those with ethereal connections to his universe through an alternate self could properly wield it. Thus, the Dane of this new universe became the first Master of the Paramount Key, and as the host of the second half of Rowan's soul, Carter became the key's eternal Guardian, acquiring immortality and the ability to communicate with the Keymaster.
After Dane's death, Carter carried the key and passed it on to numerous masters, all of whom were forced to protect it from the Præt'nos, inter-dimensional shadow demons who have sought the key since its creation. Eventually, Carter's travels brought him to America and finally to Summer Snow Valley, where Carter met the Paramount Key's current master, Evan Anders. Together, they have continued the fight to protect the key from Præt'nos and other villains who wish to wield it.
One particular encounter with the Præt'nos accidently brought them to Dimensional Island, where Carter, Evan and their friends have established a second home, and from here, Carter continues his unending journey through the multiverse.
Other
Carter is a picky eater; he won't eat dry dog food. He also has a bit of a potty mouth. XD
