Physical Description
In his normal form, Toby is rather skinny, with barely enough muscle to not look like a twig, but is still about the same height as the other boys. He has light skin, dark brown hair and bright green eyes. He wears an orange and black tee-shirt, khaki pants and black shoes. In his Præt'nos form, he looks like any other Præt'nos in terms of body shape and color -all black, long ears shaped like the Gemini sign, sharp teeth, long claws- but his eyes retain their green color that is uncharacteristic of a normal Præt'nos.
Weapons
Aside from those he creates with shadows, usually none; he'll throw something or use a nearby blunt object if the need arises.
Abilities/Powers
Toby can control shadows in a number of ways, such as crafting ethereal weapons, forcing shadows to attack, creating concussive blasts of dark energy, merging his body with them, teleporting through them, and so on. When he merges dark energy with his fingers, he can use these shadow claws to tear open portals to other dimensions. He can also transform into a Præt'nos on the off chance that he is angered enough to do so; in this form, he is stronger, faster and nearly invulnerable.
Skills
He is a decent gamer and has a great memory, which is mostly reserved for movie and TV trivia.
Personality
Toby is a mostly shy and quiet kid, forever scarred by the events that have led up to this point in his life. He often acts socially awkward, especially around strangers, and could go a whole day without talking. Around his friends, though, he's not afraid to kick back or try to have fun, and when his friends need his help, he'll give it his all, never hesitating to repay those who saved his life. He does sometimes have a tendency to get frustrated or annoyed, but when the full extent of his powers is unleashed, Toby can easily lose control of himself and display a RAGE unlike any other.
History
Toby spent the earliest years of his life in an orphanage in west Pennsylvania before being adopted by the Grayson family. For the longest time, he led an average, happy life and regularly attended church with his adopted family. Then, in his preteen years, he started to develop shadow-based superpowers, which his family became aware of and -while concerned- promised to keep secret. Ultimately, though, their church received word of Toby's powers; thus, members of their church who were part of a cult called the White Gallows came to the Grayson house with the intention of killing Toby. While his family tried to hold them off, no doubt getting killed in the process, Toby ran off with his older brother, Ryan. The White Gallows pursued them, killing Ryan and wounding Toby in the leg. However, one of the cult members took pity on Toby, so rather than killing him, he knocked him out and sent him floating down the Ohio River.
Eventually Toby floated into Summer Snow Valley, where he was found and healed by its residents. After telling them his story, the people of the valley offered him a home in the Maple House and promised to protect if the White Gallows ever came after him again. He now continues to perfect his shadow powers with the intention of using them for good, but once he became involved in the battle against the Præt'nos, things have started to take a much darker turn for Toby.
