Full Name: Evan Thaddeus Anders
Nickname(s): Ev, the Keymaster, the Rogue of Hope, paramountKeymaster
Age: 21
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 165 lbs.
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Summer Snow Valley, USA
Franchise: Unusual Tales from Summer Snow Valley (Original Story); DCStuck
Physical Description
Evan has a bit of a messy appearance, albeit a clean sort of messy, if that makes sense. He is tall and has a decent amount of muscle beneath the surface; he might seem thin at a glance, but he's stronger than he looks. His skin is light, his hair is black and messy, his eyes are a deep brown, and he has a tattoo on his upper left arm of a dove holding a buckeye branch. He typically wears a sleeveless grey hoodie, slightly ripped stone-wash jeans and green converses; if the weather gets cold, he'll also throw on a green overcoat. He always wears the Paramount Key as a necklace, generally tucking it into his shirt.
Weapons and Accessories
Evan uses two strifekind abstrata: unarmedKind, in which he uses his fists and feet, and the more often utilized keyKind, in which he fights with alchemized key-based weapons.. These weapons are as follows:
The Paramount Key: His primary tool of trade that he carried over from his pre-Sburb days. A golden key with red, green and blue gems on the bow and lightly-glowing teeth. It allows him to lock or unlock virtually anything, such as doors, gates, hearts, answers, bodies... whether it be natural or ethereal, you name it, this key will fit it. He mostly uses it to pick locks, temporarily lock enemies in place, unlock his or his friends' hidden potential, and discover the secrets behind metaphorical closed doors.
The Double-Sided Dagger: A cross between a key and a knife. It's basically an oversized steel key with two rows of particularly sharp teeth. This was Evan's starting weapon; it has since been worn down slightly and is now rarely used in favor of his newer keys, but it's still a good melee weapon.
The Skeleton Scythe: A large, black key with an extended bow and long, sharp, curved teeth. Its light weight and wide, sweeping range make it a formidable weapon, but Evan prefers not to use it as often due to its dark appearance contrasting with that of his role; generally, he'll only use this key when he's low on energy.
The Cruciform Claymore: A massive key-sword hybrid, chrome and black in color. Its immense size allows it to deal the most damage in one blow out of all his keys, but requires both hands and a great deal of strength, so while he does find it useful in close-range combat, he usually prefers lighter weight keys.
The Master Morning Star: A large key with a handle-shaped bow and bladed teeth that, despite the name, is used as a sword. Yes, pretty much exactly like a Keyblade. The teeth and blade are a sparkling silver while the bow is a copper color with a swirl pattern and a keychain hanging off of it; one side has a picture of his family, the other side reads "Jeremiah 29:11." This is Evan's go-to weapon of choice.
He also owns a Harry Potter-style, yellow and black broomstick, upon which he can fly.
Abilities/Powers
As a compatible wielder of the Paramount Key, he has automatic knowledge of how to control its uses, and if it's in a close enough range, he can summon it into his hand. He also shares an ethereal connection with his dog, Carter, the guardian of the key, which allows them to communicate and sense each other's presence.
As the Rogue of Hope, Evan specializes in taking and distributing literal and/or figurative hope or through the use of hope, though his overall abilities are currently somewhat abstract, having not yet reached their full potential. His mere presence seems to have this effect, as enemies may feel their confidence dwindle while allies will gain a boost in morale.
His powers can be utilized more directly in three Fraymotifs:
Hopes and Expectations: A buff that drains the morale of all targeted enemies, diminishing their will to fight, and distributes the acquired confidence amongst Evan and his teammates, granting them a boost of optimism and willpower, the amount of which depends on how much was previously drained. A fairly simple ability so long as it's properly targeted.
What I Believe: A technique that allows Evan to alter one aspect of his environment at a time via a wish. Little changes, such as wishing something away, can typically be done on his own; drastic changes, such as altering their environment, require extra hope from outside sources, preferably his teammates. This can easily backfire, causing decreased morale if too much hope is drained for the wish or negative outcomes to occur if a contributor doubts the wish.
Divine Intervention: In a Spirit Bomb-esque manner, Evan gathers all the hope and holy power he can, condensing it into pure white energy. He can then use this energy to cover himself and his teammates, with each individual target acquiring a white aura that acts as a shield and a source of motivation. If the need arises, the energy can also be used offensively in the form of white magic, and is particularly destructive against dark-aligned enemies or "those of little faith" as described by some. This one takes a LOT of energy and hope to create and can also easily drain Evan if not enough power is put into it.
Weaknesses
At this point, Evan has not reached god tier and is thus mortal. While he does display skepticism when necessary, he is a very overly trusting person and, if not given a reason to doubt, will take most people's words at face value, which can lead to him to trust the wrong people. He also has a tendency to lose his train of thought and has severe, almost crippling arachnophobia.
Skills
Evan is pretty strong despite his appearance, and this coupled with his history of stealth missions makes him a great fighter and field agent. He is great in a fist fight and with most close-range weapons, can think on his feet, and often comes up with strategies just moments before he executes them. He is an avid writer and storyteller, talents he hopes to put to use professionally, as well as a hardcore bookworm and pop culture enthusiast. He knows how to play drums and piano, though he's not particularly great at the latter, and he's a pretty decent singer.
Personality
Evan has a very friendly and optimistic personality and a strong moral compass. While he does have a tendency to be lazy, it's never so much that he's completely inactive; he's just willing to kick back and relax whenever time permits. Otherwise, he's almost always up for an adventure, especially if it's with friends, and he'll never ignore a cry for help. Once he gets going, he'll display fierce determination and focus, but when things go wrong, he tends to be far too hard on himself. His strong sense of loyalty and kind, open-minded nature makes Evan a great friend and dependable ally, traits that he tries to uphold in everything he does.
History
Evan grew up in a small town near Marietta, Ohio, in a relatively ordinary, if somewhat down-on-their-luck, household. His father was constantly working, his mother was unable to provide much for the family due to her Osteogenesis imperfecta, and though he did have a few peers in school, the closest thing to a friend Evan had was his older sister, Jen. In his late teens, Evan and Jen wound up in a car accident in an isolated part of the Appalachian Mountains, where they were attacked by rodents of unusual size before being rescued by a few denizens of Summer Snow Valley, a small, uncharted town on the border of Ohio and West Virginia. The duo stayed in the town while their car was fixed, but over time, they both grew to enjoy the town's exciting nature and decided to stay as permanent residents.
During his stay in the valley, Evan made numerous friends, including the Angel of Time, Kendall, a wolf hanyo, Swift (whom he is in a long-running romantic relationship with), and the guardian of the Paramount Key, Carter. The connection between Evan and Carter signified Evan as the next master of the Paramount Key. Evan's ownership of the key has plunged him into countless conflicts and misadventures, particularly with the Præt'nos, a race of eldritch, inter-dimensional shadow demons who have sought the Paramount Key's power for centuries. But with his friends and fellow Summer Snow citizens there to fight alongside him, Evan has spent his days fighting a seemingly never-ending battle against the dark forces, and he hasn't lost to them yet.
One day, a squabble with the Præt'nos General Sanguine ended with Evan and Carter being accidently transported to Dimensional Island. Following this encounter, Evan took the opportunity to explore this new land, eventually managing to contact his friends and bring them along for the adventure. Since then, Evan and his friends have taken up residence in Void City and adapted to a life of dimension-hopping between the island and their home world.
Things then took a turn when Evan met Forsaken, an alternate version of the Witch of Blood whom he had befriended. She and Kendall explained to Evan that an alternate version of him, the Rogue of Hope, had played the game Sburb with Forsaken, having died in the timeline she came from. At their insistence, Evan and his friends agreed to help Forsaken finish what she and her teammates had started. This made him a target for Clockwork, a malevolent time-travelling entity who had acquired the powers of Sburb players of every aspect except for hope, and against whom he and the players have been forced to unite. He also eventually discovered that he could control his alternate self's dream self, bringing further into question the two Evans' relationship.
While Evan is still not entirely certain what role he is meant to play, one recent development has convinced him that he is meant to play this game: his latent hope powers have been unlocked.
Other
For the record, ANYONE can use the Paramount Key; it's just that Evan inherently knows how to do it correctly due to him sharing an ethereal connection with an alternate Evan Anders from the universe where the key was created. Evan also is a devout Christian and refuses to openly use profane language.
Types in perfect syntax, but sometimes intentionally spells words in funneh ways, and frequently uses emoticons. XD Hex code fff200.
