Full Name: Bruno Fortino
Nicknames: Firecracker
Age: 89
Height: 5'9''
Weight: 135 lbs.
Gender: M
Race: Homo S. Superior (Mutant)
Alliance: Good
Home: Brooklynn
Franchise: X-Men (OC)
Physical Description: Firecracker wears a black, skin-tight suit with a red X on the front; a pair of sunglasses; black jeans with multiple pockets; and a belt with an X on it. His hair is brown and messy.
Weapons: None
Abilities/Powers: Firecracker is an energy-absorbing mutant who can absorb energy from almost anything (Heat energy, electricity, kinetic energy, etc.). He is able to release this energy in the form of powerful explosions. One of his darker powers is the ability to absorb a dying person's life-energy and convert it into his own life-energy. This results in accelerated healing and extremely slowed aging. The downside is that he has no say in the use of this power, but also that in doing so he feels as if he dies as well.
Skills: None.
Personality: Firecracker is a very bleak person. He is depressed by the deaths he has caused and often wishes that his powers were not only gone but that they would let him die. He sees himself as a monster who kills more people than he saves. Despite this, Firecracker often takes things the most seriously in the group; he actually designed a costume for himself while the others merely painted X's on their clothes. This tends to annoy him, but he works with the others due to their acceptance of him.
History: Bruno Fortino was born in the 1920s, well before public knowledge of mutants existed. He was the son of an Italian father with ties to the mafia. His parents were both gunned down by rival mobsters, which was when Bruno first discovered his ability to absorb people's life-forces. After this, he began absorbing energy from everything he came in contact with-- radios, lamps, cars, moving objects-- until he learned to control it.
Several years later, Bruno fought in World War 2. He was able to put his powers to good use, absorbing a weapon's energy and then blowing it up. However, everything went to hell when his fellow soldiers were gunned down and he was left alive by his healing powers. Despite trying to stop, he absorbed their remaining life and survived several bullets to the chest. The same happened whenever he killed an enemy; something that haunts him to this very day.
Bruno spent the remainder of his life in solitude, hoping he would eventually run out of life and die. This seemed unlikely, as he had stopped aging several years after the war. After the events of M-Day, Bruno was left in an emotional wreck due to his powers still remaining-- he believed there were hundreds of other mutants who deserved their powers more than him. He was sent to the Xavier Institue where, during an attack by an anti-mutant group, he once again absorbed the life-forces of numerous dead mutants.
After the attack, Bruno and several other mutants teamed up as the group X-Strike. Bruno began an affair with female member Starlight until she was gunned down by a meta-human criminal. Bruno encountered the angel of death (Formerly a living mutant named Doorman), who explained that Firecracker's life-absorbing power may be the result of something besides mutation.
