Physical Description: To beings who posess a supernatural third-eye, Scratch resembled the stereotypical demon-- red skin, small horns, and a long tail ending in a point. He wears a black suit with a red tie most of the time and has black, slick-backed hair. To people without the third-eye, Scratch appears as a painfully ordinary human.
Weapons: Scratch typically wields two Smith & Wesson Model 686 pistols loaded with Damned Bullets; anyone killed by the bullets goes to Hell, regardless of any sins committed in their life. However, demons or other similar creatures are strengthened by such bullets. Also, while not technically a weapon, Scratch is frequently seen with a motorcycle that he crashed on in life. The motorcycle is now indestructible and can burst into flames with a single command.
Abilities/Powers: As part of Scratch's punishment for his atheism, he is able to instantly tell what if any religion a person belongs to. Scratch's tail is incredibly strong and he is able to use it as an extra appendage, occasionally strangling people with it. To people without a third-eye, he appears as a bland, ordinary person. This means he tends to blend into crowds and go unnoticed. The disguise can be altered depending on his mission. Despite being a demon, he is unharmed by touching bibles or entering churches, possibly having to do with him still retaining his atheism.
Skills: Scratch is a talented marksman and also an expert on philosophy. He can easily quote many great early thinkers.
Personality: Scratch is somewhat cynical and nihilistic. He is also an extreme atheist, even to the point of not believing in Hell despite being a demon. Whenever someone brings this up he simply challenges them to prove nobody in the room is insane. Despite all of this, Scratch seems able to get along with most people, even if he can act condescending towards them.
History: Scratch is a demon-- a human being whose sins have been so extreme that, in the afterlife, they are transformed into a demon. However, Scratch's minor sin-- atheism-- only warrented him the minor ranking of 'imp'.
Scratch spent 20 years being tortured with a boring sermon until the ruler of Hell, Mephistoles, approached him with an offer; he would end Scratch's eternal torture if the demon did jobs for him. Scratch grudgingly agreed and soon found out what the jobs were; he and an angel named Philip were given the assignment of finding souls that had yet to move on and 'move them on'. Violently. With guns. Scratch was to send evil souls to Hell, and Philip was chosen to send the good to Heaven.
Over the course of his job, Scratch has nearly been killed by Fallen Angels, Jack the Ripper, Mephistoles, the Angel of Death, and a sinister force from before God's time. He has also had to stop his partner on numerous occasions from trying to return to life. According to Mephistoles, when the end of the world comes, Philip will recieve his reward while Scratch will merely vanish. Scratch admitted that he would prefer that to living up in 'Bible Land'.
