Inside one of the many factorys, a youth was sat at an advanced-looking microscope, a pen in one gloved hand and a disecting knife in the other. Under the glass was the body of a fairly large, grotesque insect, one he had recently recovered from the nearby canyon.
Once he had come across the industrial park, he liked the feel of it immediately, setting up operations as his temporary base during his expedition of the island. Various machines hummed around him, bathing him in an eerie blue glow. The familiarity of it all was comforting.
After opening an incision the stomach and taking notes, he finally spoke up, "Computer, analysis."
"Subject: Dark Insect," replied a robotic female voice from the open air. "Mythological creature said to devour dimensions in swarms."
He nodded, knowing that much already. "Physical analysis?"
"Unknown substances detected. Evidence of dark matter left behind in the stomach cavity, broken down upon the insect's death."
"Dark matter..." he murmured to himself. An accent heavily weighed on his voice. "I suppose that makes sense in theory... it's a good thing I didn't disect a live one." He looked over the insect closely. "...but for what purpose ARE these creatures? If not contained, they'll be the end of all existance for certain."

"Hey, kid."
Mik Boyle had opened the door to the factory and was surprised to see a little kid running around like he owned the place. That was what Mik was doing. It took him a second to notice the vast ammount of machinery that the kid had set up. Even with an army of Mik clones, it would take him a few hours to set all of this up... not that he would.
"What are you doing here, kid? Me and my boys are trying to set up shop."

"What the... what's with all the copies of you?" asked Leonard, appearing out of nowhere

Upon their entrance, he instantly leaped to his feet, pulling out a small blaster from under his coat. He knew of the dangerous people on this island, and he didn't spare any caution.
"I would like to ask YOU the same thing," he muttered to Mik. "There are plenty other facilities in this park you can use. I won't interfere with your business if you keep away from mine."

(OOC: What copies? He doesn't have any with him.)
Mik looked at the gun and chuckled; it was the most advanced weapon he'd ever seen. "Take it easy, kid. This park's definitly big enough to share. You just took me by surprise, is all."

The youth raised a brow behind his blue-tinted glasses, lowering his weapon. "...pardon me. The tales of this place call for extra caution, that's all." He raised it again when he glanced Leonard's way. "...especially when trusting others."

"Hmph!" grunted Leonard.

Mik chuckled smugly. "Yeah, I hear you. How can you trust anyone when they're a slave to what they own?" The young anarchist laughed almost madly at his own point. "I mean, when we have posessions we're driven by greed! But when we have what we need-- food, shelter, clothing-- we're simply driven by a desire to survive! Right?"

The youth raised a brow, finger on the trigger. "...of course. Now would it be too much to ask the two of you to leave me to my work?"

"Well, doesn't shortstuff think he's the dog's bollocks?!" said Leonard "You don't frighten me"

A second Mik suddenly appeared behind Leonard, grabbing him from behind. "Oh, come on-- the kid asked instead of shot at you." The first Mik smirked at Leonard as his copy held him. "Of course, now he's got a perfect shot..."

The boy was only surprised by Mik's power for a moment. Then he smirked at the comment. "Good point. Still wish to protest, feline?"

"Where the hell did you come from?!" shouted Leonard. "That's it!" He drew Cat's Claw. "Alright kid! You're coming with me and working for us now! Your intellect will be of value." He held the blade at Dexter's throat. "I don't want to start a fight"

He flinched at the approach, obviously, grinding his teeth. "...neither do I." Leonard forgot the blaster was still in his hand, lodged just under his ribs. "But you leave me no choice."
He then fired. But the consequences were much less dire than expected; Leonard simply spazzed out, briefly paralyzed by a shot of electricity.
He quickly pulled away, holding the smoking blaster at bay. Then his computer spoke to him once more.
"Dexter, a hive of Dark Insects has been located. Extermination is suggested to prevent the swarm from escaping."
"Of course," he sighed, looking at the coordinates sent to his palm-pc and nodding. "Right, then." He packed his blaster away along with other equipment he began grabbing while he spoke up to Mik. "Take care of the aggressive feline for me, will you? Tell his group I'm not interested in becoming their central intelligence."

"Yeah, sure." Mik nodded at Dexter, amused. His copy tossed Leonard to the ground while Mik picked a piece of pipe off of the ground and approached him. In a sudden moment, eight copies of Mik appeared; each one surrounding Leonard.
