Physical Description: A hunched over looking being that’s much more powerful then he appears in terms of magic. Quite old, his fur, normally deep brown among his kind, has started to gray and a slight beard is among his being. He wears medieval clothes; an orange jacket that covers his tan shirt, followed by a tan robe like bottom that hides his feet, though his dark brown tail topped with orange hair (The orange hair graying somewhat) is shown dragging behind him. He has long floppy ears and a dog like face that holds a serene expression for a person his age.
Weapons: A highly decorative mace.
Abilities/Powers: Roland’s abilities are not physical by a lot of means. He is able to move quickly when he has to, but his old age still makes him rather slow sometimes. His TRUE abilities is a keen knowledge of how to use magic. His abilities cover ‘Black Magic’, ‘Sage Magic’, and a few other types obtained by his extensive study into the elements.
Skills: Among his powers as a wizard, Roland is very knowledgeable and can quote old sayings and even some literature quotes, from books he had read in his years of living.
Personality: Though an old man, Roland has accepted his seniority with grace and dignity, holding on to serene and intelligent mind that has made him well known. He’s known to be somewhat opinionated about philosophical matters, and is extremely wise.
History: Roland, back in the days of the so-called ‘Age of Technology in Ivalice’, was born to a family of scholars. At the age of 10, he succeeded in setting a record in Ivalice, graduating from a prestigious magic Academy at his early age. Roland’s upward climb did not stop there however, as he soon climbed high enough to even study underneath the great mage Lezaford, the man thought to have created the powerful magical ‘Laws’ and the magic of the Judges that enforce them. However, this creation turned out to be Lezaford’s downfall. One day a judge, believing himself more powerful then the others, lead an army onto the Dalmascan Castle, and destroyed it, killing many that were still inside.
Embittered by the treasonous act, Roland, whom had managed to escape due to a secret passage, began to resent the world for it’s acts and soon withdrew himself into his books. He had no fear of the judges coming after him, due to him being an anonymous scholar among the other workers in the castle. He spent many years alone, a scholar in the city of Camoa, in the country of Loar. Some years later, Roland in his old age, he was contacted by a clan for a rather… Interesting assignment. A boy with no knowledge of Ivalice or anything regarding the wide world. Though originally shunning this request, Roland agrees to teach the boy.
The boy had had a positive influence on Roland, transforming him from a crotchety old man, into the serene and wise old teacher he is today. Roland soon grew fond of the boy, and joined the clan he was a part of, to continue the boy’s tutoring. He’s been a member of that clan ever since.
Other: These days: Roland is once again embittered since the appearance of the Dark Insects, thinking his friends are long gone. However, having learned from the boy he once taught, he refused to be become embittered long, and soon learns to be a teacher to those who need him. His magic is strong from his long years of studying and by his sheer force of will and mind power.
