"So... have you heard of the latest discovery out West?" Double D brought up the topic, walking alongside Felix, Ed, Eddy, and Masahiro through the city in their daily errands. The others were at home holding the fort and protecting each other. "There was a recent revealing of ancient caves near the canyon."
"Cool!" Ed beamed.
"So?" Eddy questioned.
"I just thought it was interesting... to know that they were still finding..."
"Arf! Arf arf arf!"
They all turned to a car parked along the street, a yapping dag inside and scratching at the windows.
"That dog's trapped!" Double D gasped.
"Poor puppy!" Ed whined.
"He must be one hot dog! OW!"
"Not funny, Eddy."

"Horrible time for a joke, you insensative clod," Masahiro grumbled, a little frustrated that Perceval had not been able to come, though he'd be thanking God later... he should always do so considering the nature of the world he was in.
"Poor thing..." Felix was the first to fall bait as he ran over to the car and used earth-like strength to rip the door open... without ripping it off in some manner.

The dog quickly hopped out, staring at them all with blank eyes.
"Awww... it's so cute.." Ed cooed.
"...Heeelllp... meeee..." it got out in a scratchy, changing voice.
"Whoa," Eddy blinked. "It can talk."
"W-what happened?" Double D questioned, kneeling down close to it.
"It...waaaas... aarrf! Arf! Arf arf arf arf!"
Double D gasped, stepping back to the others. Looking around, he was the first to notice the multitude of dogs roaming the city, their barks and howls echoing on.
"Something's... wrong here..."

A red-furred dog ran up to the group seemingly urgently. It barked furiously at them, a sort of desperate anger in its expression. If that were possible for a dog. It whimpered, then looked at them beggingly.
Stupid dog.

The dog growled at Eddy and then looked at Edd hopefully. It quickly looked back at Eddy and growled something.
"Grrrrrrr... grrrrr... grrrrrrk... grrrrrork!"
It attacked Eddy, biting his pants' leg.

"Hey, get away from him!" Masahiro said, kicking the dog away. "It's a good thing Nazz didn't come here; she'd be pissed about kicking a dog."
"Something's wrong... I sense human souls in all of these dogs... They're human," Felix said.
"Human?!" Masahiro said, shocked. "But how can that be?!"

"OW!" Eddy shook his leg, trying to get it off, until Masahiro had kicked it away. "Geez...!"
Noticing the look it had given him, Edd hesitantly knelt down beside it, scratching and petting it in comfort. "...what's wrong?"

"Something must've changed them... But what..." A sudden jolt of dread flowed through Masahiro. "I sense some evil force at work."
"Wh-What?!" Felix gasped.
"... ... !!! It's the same energy that changed these people into canines! It feels like a mass gathering... the building of a weapon!"
"But what reason could anyone have to build a weapon that only turns people into dogs?"
"... To force them into obediance. There's a power similar to my mind control powers within that force!"

A cackle came from the source, a monkey they dreadfully recognized shooting rays of power in every direction from a dog-head statue.
"That's Mojo Jojo!!" Ed gasped.
"HEY! -arfarf-" A dreadful half dog, half human ran up to him, barking in protest. "Stop that! ARF!"
But another zap and he became a full dog, gaining another gleeful cackle from Mojo.

The dog was clearly uncomfortable with being petted by Double D, as a small, warning growl demonstrated. When it saw Mojo Jojo, it barked in fury. He ran towards Mojo, knowing that the monkey wouldn't be capably of doing anything to him.

Mojo swiveled back to the group, his evil grin doubling in... evilness.
"JUST the superpowered group of freaks I was LOOKING for!!" he gleefully exclaimed. He ignored the raging puppy barking next to him. "Soon your power shall be mine! Power that I will use to run the world! The world in which all the inhabitants are dogs! Dogs under MY control! I will be the true MASTER of the world~!"
"Is this guy kidding?" Eddy muttered before zipping over and kicking Mojo in the butt.
"WAGH!!" Mojo fell forward, the Anubis dog head flying from his arms and into the air.
However, in its arc, it began to glow...!
"WATCH OUT!!"
Too late. A blast of the statue's power hit the entire group in one blow.

"Stupid monk... OH SHIT!" Masahiro had just been insulting Mojo Jojo before the blast hit the group.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I'll give you one good guess as to who screamed like that.

Quickly, Mojo bounded forward and caught the Anubis head before it crashed to the ground, sighing in relief. When he looked up, he grinned in absolute maniacal delight. Because there before him now sat five dogs; of the three NN1 controls, there was a small doberman with aviator goggles, a smaller rottweiler with spiky hair, and a miniature dachshund with a black ski cap. They all sat up, disoriented. "It's the small things in life that make a super-genius happy!" Mojo giggled to himself.
