Here is the list of all important items, their purpose, and current location/condition. This list is separate from the Nest Jewels.
Please comment on this thread or PM me if you know of the locations or wish to add anything new.
1: Chaos Emeralds
Sonic the Hedgehog
It's been mentioned a few are already on the island, so these are a givin.
-Climber has the White Chaos Emerald, and he's using it as an energy source. He's not aware of it's true potential, but who knows how fast that can change.
2: Crystal Stars
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
Each gem has an amazing magic power giving anyone who holds them one of seven special abilities. Or if one has all seven, they could rival the Chaos Emeralds themselves.
-Clayton Mario has the Gold Star in his possession. He is currently searching for the others, stolen before the Dark Insect attack on Mushroom Kingdom.
3: The Crystal Coconut
The Donkey Kong TV Series
This magic orb has the power to grant wishes, act as a power source, an oracle, among many other things. The full extent of it's power is unknown. If removed from the island of Congo Bongo (Or DK Island, depending on how fanatic some fans are), drained of it's power, or destroyed, the whole island will sink to the bottom of the ocean.
4: Master Emerald
Sonic the Hedgehog
For the same reason as the Chaos Emeralds. It's more powerful than all seven emeralds combined and can either disrupt the emerads' power or give them more making them the Super Chaos Emeralds. It's power keeps Angel Island floating in the sky.
5: Star Rod
Paper Mario
It can grant any wish. Due to the continuity clash of the game's predessesor, Super Mario RPG, one has to think of how to incorporate both games into the same continuity. I came up with an answer that doesn't end up making a total mess of both games' stories. (feel free to ask about it)
6: The World Rings
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Hidden within the pages of the story of 1001 Arabian Knights. The seven rings are what bind the pages of the book together. Without them the stories would flood the real world, causing chaos and destruction. Each ring represents a different emotion depending on their color.
