Full Name: Kazuma Kuwabara
Nicknames: Kuwa
Age: 14
Height: About 6 feet
Weight: ?
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Japan
Franchise: Yu Yu Hakusho
Physical Description: Kuwabara is broad-shouldered with a defined muscular build. He is the tallest member of the team, standing about six feet - tall by Japanese standards, as this is considered well above average. He has thick reddish-orange hair that combed up into a 1950s 'punk' pompador-like style. He has an angular face with narrow eyes and high cheek bones and a slender pointed nose.
At the time I'm pulling him from canon, he is also wearing a white shirt, a pair of light blue jeans, and a black pair of... shoes. Pretty much all they could be classified as.
Weapons: Well, his Spirit Sword MAY count. It's a sword... that he makes from his spirit energy. Shocker, I know.
Abilities/Powers: Kuwabara has shown the ability to manipulate his aforementioned sword in VARIOUS ways... HOWEVER. At the time I'm pulling him from canon, his powers have momentarily disappeared. I intend to have him regain them through RP.
Skills: He's a VERY good fighter... perhaps second only to Yuusuke. Unless you want to bring Hiei and Kurama into the mix.
Personality: Kuwabara, despite seeming to get off through fighting, actually has a rather strict code of honor. He has certain views of justice and the like. It would appear that he has a 'the strong should protect the weak' type of philosophy. This could, in fact, be his entire reason for fighting.
History: Kuwabara starts off as merely Yuusuke's rival. That is all. He's not given more depth. In fact, if you didn't know any better, you'd think he was just some random masochist looking to get the snot knocked out of him. But you would be very wrong. Some of his exploits include going to Yuusuke's wake, saving Yuusuke's GIRLFRIEND from being... let's call it 'gang loved', shall we?
Yuusuke also used his body for a while, while he was working on getting resurrected. But Kuwabara's still just a normal guy that seems to be a bit of a masochist, right? I mean, what more could a normal guy DO in a manga with the word 'spirit detective' used to describe it's main character? Surely this must be the end of the line for Kuwabara.
Well it isn't. Along with Yuusuke and a few other guys unimportant enough to get mention here, Kuwabara went on to participate in Master Genkai's tournament. He used his spiritual intuition to make his way through the forest challenge, used it AGAIN to win a few arcade games, and then defeated his first opponent. From the looks of it, the entire shebang was going to end with another fight against Yuusuke. Until, y'know. Kuwabara went against Rando. Who just happens to be the demon that absorbed the powers of 99 other masters. The guy that crushed him with ONE HAND. And this is after shrinking him.
...but even then, Kuwabara wasn't done. A spiritual manifestation of him appeared in Yuusuke's mind to urge him to defeat Rando. But there was more that happened this day. Kuwabara had not only gotten the beating of a lifetime, but he'd also learned something. He could make swords from his spirit energy. For the next six months, he trained this technique. It reached a point where he could focus his energy to make the sword WITHOUT needing something to focus it into.
And then came Yuusuke's second mission. It involved mind-controlling bugs and a magical instrument that controlled them. It also involved a visit into the Makai. And Kuwabara went along.
Take a moment to take that in. All Kuwabara could do, at this point, was form a sword and throw his fists around. And he'd followed Yuusuke, Hiei, and Kurama into the MOTHERFRIGGIN DEMON WORLD. Yeah, this isn't helping the whole 'masochist' thing, is it?
Kuwabara stood back and watched, during the first fight. Kurama seemed to have things under control, after all. He was only bleeding from MOST of his limbs and PART of his torso, after all.
And then it was Kuwabara's time to fight. He faced a cat creature, I don't recall his name. First, Kuwabara trapped the creatures that it produced from it's hair(yes. It could make a monster from one strand of hair. And dude had an effin mullet), he went for the cat-beast himself. It was... a little challenging, to say the least. Let's just say it fed on Kuwabara's energy. He soon, however, OVERLOADED it with energy. He thought it was over...
...and then the thing popped up a room away. Over a disappearing floor, shooting at Kuwabara. And the stuff UNDER the floor? If he hit it it would be instant death. It would also destroy his spirit, if I remember correctly. Kuwabara FINALLY beat him again...
...and then he popped up again in the NEXT room. However, the next major opponent had shown up. He quickly dispatched of it. Couldn't have been good for Kuwa's ego, but at least the bloody thing was dead.
He aided Kuwabara and Hiei in getting Yuusuke up to Suzuka's room. Now, for a guy with merely the ability to make a sword, you can't HELP but think he's going to end up being a Red Shirt...
Well, he does, but not yet. Next, Kuwabara and Yuusuke venture into the Makai to save Hiei's sister, Yukina. Kuwabara instructs Yuusuke to hit him with his Rei Gun, firing Kuwabara into Toguro, effectively killing him. Or, at least, that's what they THOUGHT...
...because he comes back in the Dark Tournament arc. With a message for Yuusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama. They're all to fight in the Dark Tournament. Or else they shall be killed. They meet the challenge, and I Kuwabara's first match is, I believe, against a small boy by the name of Rinku. He's... defeated, actually. By ring-out. Kuwabara doesn't actually WIN one of his matches until he has to fight this guy that can make Earth-Armor. Kuwabara is the LAST member able to fight, as Yuusuke's been disqualified for this round, Hiei and The Masked Fighter are trapped in some sort of barrier, and Kurama is... well, Kurama just can't fight at the moment, mmkay?
Kuwabara wins his match, AFTER going in already injured. Because Yukina shows up. And everyone knows that Kuwa needs to show off for Yukina. He also wins his match against Older Toguro. It was a tough battle, but in the end he manipulated his sword to match Older Toguro's ability to stretch his body parts to any length and move his internal organs around. But this wasn't the end of his DT exploits, oh no. He ALSO faked death so that Yuusuke could unlock his full potential. But after that, his powers seemed to disappear.
Now we have reached present day. After the Tournament, things pretty much settled down. At least until Yuusuke up and vanished one day. Kuwabara was surprised(and a bit angry) when Koenma announced an emergency meeting, and even more surprised to discover that Yuusuke had disappeared. Koenma seemed rather stressed, explaining that Botan had burst into his office.
During the meeting he ranted a bit about paperwork and how Yuusuke had been sucked to another world. The people that attended the meeting went there for various reasons. Keiko was there because she wanted to hear where Yuusuke had run off without telling her first hand. She was quite pissed. Botan was there because she had spread the message about the meeting and her position as assistant to Yuusuke required it. She was also quite worried.
Kuwabara was there because he was raging at Yuusuke for running off without putting up some kind of fight. Kurama was there due to curiosity and respect towards Yuusuke. Pouh, some kind of odd cross between a puppy and a penguin, was there merely because he was a spirit representation of Yuusuke's soul. In fact, the only major member of the team that wasn't there was Master Genkai, who had been rather annoyed at being bothered about something "so trivial". When Koenma specified that Yuusuke had not been drawn to an adjacent world, such as the Demon or Spirit Realms, there was much panic.
Koenma said he had been spending the last few days tapping Spirit Realm resources to open a portal to this world, as it seemed to have some kind of multi-dimensional barrier around it. All while complaining about how whatever he was doing was causing more paperwork than he wanted to think about. There were discussions over who should go, and much ranting by various members of the group. Koenma heard a "decision" be made and forced open the hole. The plan had been to send Botan in, as she could likely explain things the clearest.
With a "free" representative of the Spirit Realm there, she could attempt to contact the Spirit Realm of the other world and work out a way to get Yuusuke returned. This didn't go well, however, in that Kuwabara rushed past and dove into the portal, which seemed to dislike someone going through and snapped shut, leaving much in the way of "0_0" expressions from the group.
