Botan let out a sigh of relief, but the momentary break in concentration jerked the two downwards a few feet. She paled and used her energy to pull up. The amount of Reiki that was emanating from her would make it clear to Hiei how hard she was working. He'd seen her emit this much before. Back when he had fought Yuusuke and she'd prevented the slash in Keiko's head from opening as a third eye.
Yeah, she was expending that much. The void terrified her, and it was likely a human-like rush of adrenaline that was allowing her to slowly ascend upwards. She was about three feet from the top edge of the island when whatever pull possessed by the void seemed to go away, and she suddenly rocketed into the air.
It was rather chaotic, and by the time she got the oar back under full control, they were over twenty feet above the island. She paled and jerked her head to the side, muttering something about "kami-sama" under her breath as she saw Hiei's annoyed look. She was thanking god at Hiei's annoyed look.
She let the Reiki fade down to normal as she drew in some deep breaths. She hadn't missed Hiei's terrified look. She closed her eyes with her hand on her chest and took a final deep breath before opening them, "Are you okay, Hiei?"
She was glad he didn't have a problem with heights. Because twenty feet up is pretty high.

Hiei needed merely a moment to come up with a next course of action. It was time to save face. Boy howdy was it time to save face.
"Tsk. Of COURSE I'm okay. A void of endless falling is NOTHING to me." Hiei responded, waving his hand...
...and almost falling off. He quickly put said hand where it originally was, getting quite a grip on the oar.
"Nevermind. Can you find the idiots and Kurama from up here?"

Botan looked a little concerned. Hiei was lying, and the fact that it was blatently obvious meant he was far more flustered than he was letting on. She glanced down at her human shell and then down to the ground, "You can pick up on Kurama's energy even better than I can. I can't guarantee the others are with him, but he's probably the best one to look for first. So keep an eye out too, and make sure you don't let that fall," she finished with a gesture towards her seemingly unconscious human shell.
With how flustered he was, just going with it seemed the best course of action. She took off through the sky, scanning the ground as she went. She wasn't kidding about Hiei picking up on Kurama better. She wasn't trying to "imply" anything. Its just that, being yokai, they both used youki.
