Full Name: Malcolm Reynolds
Nicknames: Mal
Age: ?(He seems to be in his late 30s-early 40s)
Height: ?(The average height for his age)
Weight: ?(Average)
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: While never explicitly stated, the only planets in the universe are, apparently, all Earths. So it could be said that his home is, in fact, Earth. And with all the time he spends in Serenity, it could be said that it could also be counted as his home. For clarity, however, we'll say Earth.
Franchise: Firefly(Treating the movie as non-canon, as I haven't seen it. Will probably touch up the app to include the movie after I watch it)
Physical Description: Mal has a medium build. He's the mid-point of two extremes, Jayne and Simon. He has short brown hair that ends somewhere above his ears. His attire has a brown theme to it. Ergo, a dark brown coat, a light brown pair of pants, and a red shirt. Even his boots are brown. He is, after all, part of the 'Brown Coat' faction.
Weapons: Malcolm is shown to have an assortment of weapons, all of which are guns. However, to simplify things, and because of the scenario I'm going for with where I take him from canon, he currently has but one laser pistol on him.
Abilities/Powers: N/A
Skills: Mal has shown sufficient skill in hand-to-hand combat and has a good handle on firearms. It should be noted that he's horrible with a sword, however.
Personality: Mal has an interesting personality. It doesn't matter if he likes you, if he hates you, or if he thinks you're the worst scum that ever walked the Earth. If he considers you a part of his crew, he will fight to the death in your honor. In fact, he turned around the ship for Simon and River in the episode “Safe”. When asked about it, he responds, quite calmly: “You're on my crew.” Mal's pretty easy to anger, his largest berserk button being, of course, endangering a member of his crew or someone he deeply cares for. He's usually a pretty easy-going, humorous guy. Not as much as, say, Wash, but still not as serious and straightforward as, say, Simon.
History: Mal has an... odd, history. One member of his crew would define him as a 'petty thief'. And indeed, most of his life after the war has comprised of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. But, to really get the feel of Mal's history, I feel we should start at the beginning. The war.
Quite a while ago, scientists found other Earths than ours. They were, of course, colonized. However, the government wanted to bring everyone under a central rule. An Alliance, if you would. A few 'idiots' tried to fight it. Among them, Malcolm Reynolds. His team fought hard, but in the end, lost Serenity Valley. Mal wasn't ready to conform however, oh no. Instead, he gathered the best of his team... Zoe being the only one that could be considered the 'best'. Anyway, he gathered the best of his team, and went on the market for a ship, to do a few odd jobs. He found one, of the Firefly variety, and named it Serenity.
It was decided that he needed a crew. He needed an engineer, and he needed a pilot. He found Wash(whom soon became Zoe's wife), and an unnamed engineer who failed at his job. However, through said engineer, he met Kaylee. She replaced the old engineer, because, well... she actually knew what was wrong with the bloody thing. Mal and crew also came across Jayne, a man with anger issues and an itchy trigger finger. They did a few thefts in that period of time, until they came across Badger. See, after they did the job Badger wanted, he refused payment. And as he had more guns, well...
It was decided to be a good idea to leave. They got a couple of passengers along the way, however. Simon Tam, a doctor, and Book, a shepherd with a mysterious past. There was another, unseen passenger, however. Simon's sister, River. They had a small run-in with Reavers, but with a bit of skilled piloting from Wash, they managed to escape.
They did various odd jobs from here on out, the most dull being transporting bobble heads. One of the more exciting things to happen to the crew involved Jubal Early attempting to kidnap River. Mal was the first to notice him, and was promptly beaten to a pulp and locked in his bunk. With a bit of help from River, in Jubal's ship, and Kaylee, he managed to get out of his locked bunk. After Simon threw a hitch in their plan, he attempted to take on Jubal by himself. He failed. However, he met the man once they were outside the ship, and tossed him out of range, to a point where his artificial gravity failed and he merely floated away.
On one of the jobs, however, Mal came across something odd. What appeared to be a portal generator. It was still in the maintenance stage, however, and as such was turned off. He intended to leave it alone... and Jayne, being... well, Jayne, accidentally pressed a button when he leaned on the console. It turned on, and the first thing Mal noted was a powerful suction it had to it. This was the last thought he had before he was whisked away to the Dimensional Island.
