In the middle of Portal Park, so named for portals that commonly appear there, a girl fell out of a portal and on to the ground. This girl was probably wearing one of the most colorful outfits most people have seen. Lying next to her was a green boombox, which fell out of the portal with her. The boombox was currently turned on and playing techno music loud enough for anyone in the immediate area to hear.

Along with the funky 80's beat, there was a small beeping noise that went along with it, almost complementing the music as it went. Onto the scene walked a young boy around 13 or so walking up, carrying what appeared to be a more cartoony version of a Ghostbuster's PKE (A Psycho-Kinetic Energy scanner). Wearing a black jacket that stretched down to his upper legs, the jacket would often billow like a cape if a wind blew through, with black hair fixed up to look live a 'V' shaped hook, and his head slightly larger then what would be considered norma-

"MY HEAD IS NOT BIG!!!!!"

.......................... FINE... Sheesh... TOUCHY...

Anyways, Dib continued to walk around the park examining each portal carefully. "Hmmm..." With a cautious move, he stuck his hand inside... Only to see it reappear out of another portal not too far off. Yanking his hand back out, the boy took note, and examined another portal. "Interesting..." Moving past another one, he walked towards the next portal in sequence...

Before tripping over the girl that had fallen out of the portal, and landing with a painful faceplant on the ground. "OW!!!"

Rubbing his nose, the boy readjusted his glasses, "What the heck was that?! Did someone stick out their leg and trip me again?"

It was around that time that he FINALLY noticed the girl and the boombox.

"Oh SHOOT!!!" He quickly hit his knee's and lightly shook the girl. "Hey are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." She said. She got up then looked around her, seeing what would have looked like a regular park, if not for the random portals scattered here and there. "Like where am I?"

Dib took in that question a moment; it's very possible that earlier that he had been under the oppinion that this girl had merely been sleeping in this park because she was homeless. Given the fact that she didn't seem to know where she was... Yeah... that pretty much blew THAT theory out of the water.

"Portal Park, I believe." He got up to his feet picking up his dropped PKE scanner before pocketing it. "What are you doing here if you don't even know where you are?" Dib felt his 'paranormal investigator instincts' (Which worked nearly similar to 'Spider Sense'... ... ... Okay not really, but close) kick in. So this girl didn't know where she was? How very suspicious...

He decided to pull out his PKE scanner, and turn it back on... JUST TO BE SAFE...

"I don't know. I ended up here by accident. Maybe while that nutjob with the..." Lanette started to say, before stopping. "Ah, you'll probably think I'm crazy."

She then looked at the person in front her holding out some weird looking device. "Are you into sci-fi or something?" She asked.

Dib didn't answer a moment, the PKE scanning the girl carefully. At the side, two protusions shaped like poles and ended with red orbs, appeared to climb up ever so slightly, but stopped before it got to high. There was a light buzzing noise, but it didn't appear serious.

"Hmmm... You have a slight spike of PKE energy..." Looking behind the girl, he saw that there was a portal there. "That could be just the rift but..." Putting away the PKE, he rubbed his chin examining the girl closely. "Have you ever been the subject of a 'Ghostly Possession' before?" If the girl was staring at the boy strangely, he quickly whipped out his wallet, "Dib Membrane, Paranormal Investigator, at your service." He quickly flipped the wallet open, showing her what appeared to be a card with his picture on it, before he quickly flipped it closed again.

Good thing too, otherwise the girl would've been able to see that the so called 'Legalization card' was nothing more then a Library Card.

Lanette was indeed staring at him strangely. She didn't know what PKE energy meant, though she thought the boy was talking about the portal she fell out of or her powers, until he started talking about ghosts.

"Ghostly Possession? You watch too much Ghostbusters, man." She said.

"Ironic since I got to meet the ghostbusters before."

Lanette stared at the boy curiously. "Where do you think I got this thing?" He pulled out his PKE, and showed it to the girl. "I added a few extra things to peak it's efficiency, but this IS an actually PKE Scanner." He put the PKE away, pointing a thumb at himself. "I'm sort of a Ghostbuster myself, though my interests rest in not only ghosts, but also Aliens, demons, and just about anything else that wouldn't be counted as normal." Having said that, he looked at the girl curiously. "Hmmm... Well, if you don't know what this place is... Care to tell me how you got here?"

"Uh, like I said, you'll probably think I'm crazy." Lanette said. "And you actually met the Ghostbusters?"

Dib nodded quickly. "Yeah, I have. Nice guys."

However, when he heard Lanette say that he might think she was crazy if she explained, he took this in a moment, his glasses twinkling suspiciously. "Really? ... ... ... How so?"

"Um, it might sound like... uh..." Lanette said trying to think off a way to explain this. "Have you ever read any X-Men comics? It's... sorta like that."

Dib had read X Men comics before. Just not a lot. He had always been too busy with... OTHER THINGS. "Oh, Hmmm... I see." With that aside, he turned to the Boombox which continued to pump out 80's music like nobodies business. "I'm still not sure I understand though, I haven't read enough of those comics to get what's going on."

At the odd look, he shrugged. "Yeah... I was always too busy looking at recordings of Mars, looking through my teloscope... Just recently, I started catching actual ghosts too." He held up an index finger, "After that, I started reading 'Tobin's Spirit Guide'; It's sorta the tell all book about ghosts, specters, and other spiritual things." He scratched the back of his head. "It's long, but I've got to read it if I want to know, what I'll be up against. Just comes with the job."

His eyes widen, "Oh! And speaking of jobs-" He quickly got to his feet. "I've got a job to do here! Almost forgot!" He looked down at the girl before holding out a hand to her. "One thing though, I don't think I ever caught your name."

"I'm Lanette Ronalds. I'm a dancer, so that explains the boombox." She said, grabbing his hand.

Lanette noticed that Dib was looking at the boombox, which was currently playing a favorite song of hers, making her nod her head in beat to the music. She was paying more of her attention to Dib's questions than the music though for the past couple of minutes. If it wasn't turned on she probably would have forgotten it was here.

"All right, I'll explain. The thing was I was at a magic show with this friend of mine." She started explaining. "Big Sherlock Holmes fan by the way. Anyway, today must not've been a good day for him 'cause he ended up ruining most of the show after shouting how his tricks were done out loud in the audience. You followin' me so far?"

Dib busily continued to scan the portals with his PKE, though it was obviousy he was still listening to Lanette. "So far yes." He stuck his hand through the portal once more, and saw it reappear in another one not too far off. "Don't mind this, I'm listening. Just keep going."

"Turns out that magician guy started researchin' like some real magic stuff and became a real hardcore sorceror. He came after Edwin, that's his name, and wanted to get revenge on him for ruinin' his show. Honestly, I think the guy's a wackbag. And when I tried to help, he zapped me with this weird I-don't-even-know-what. Next thing I know, here I am." Lanette finished.
