Warning. Mugen and I consider Serenity to be canon. So, if you haven't seen the movie(or Firefly, for that matter), there are spoilers here. Massive spoilers. MASSIVE.
Full Name: Simon Tam
Nicknames: None, although Jayne uses QUITE a few insulting pronouns to describe the good doctor.
Age: ?(Early 30s, perhaps)
Height: ?(Average)
Weight: ?(Lower end of average)
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: For the sake of discussion, let's say... Serenity.
Franchise: Firefly/Serenity
Physical Description: Simon has a rather moderate build, especially in comparison to someone like Jayne Cobb. He's rather cleanly, in contrast to pretty much everyone else on Serenity excluding Inara. He commonly wears light blue clothing, much like an Alliance soldier. Also in contrast to the rest of the group. But it's mostly because he actually ORIGINATES from the central earths.
Weapons: Simon, being pretty adamant on not killing anyone, has no weapons.
Abilities/Powers: N/A
Skills: Well, he's a damned good doctor.
Personality: Simon's usually a calm person. He makes a few light jokes here and there, but, as Jayne can attest, he's not really funny. He doesn't enjoy fighting, however, do something that puts his younger sister in danger, and he will(attempt to) END YOU.
History: Simon grew up in a rather stable family. His genius little sister, his parents whom wanted him to be a doctor, usual stuff. And then said sister went off to a school. And that's when Simon's life went to hell and back. She was sending him these odd... letters. They sounded nothing like her. He soon, however, discovered that it was a code. His parents, of course, didn't believe him. After a failed attempt to rescue her, the family disowned him.
It took a while, but he eventually found some people willing to help him. They were ready. They had a plan. They were going to get his sister. They were going to rescue River.
He made it through the facility wearing Alliance clothing, making it to River's holding cell. After a brief conversation, he disabled her guards, and the two escaped. But they were still on the run. They didn't have to worry, however. For then they found freedom. Then... they found Serenity.
He became the team doctor after healing Kaylee. He was not done on his mission, however. Before River could recover from what they had done to her... Simon needed to know WHAT they had done to her. He discovered that they had taken out a vital part of her brain. This meant that she felt... every emotion, all at once. It must have been rather overwhelming for her, he mused. And then Jayne decided to get the three caught...
With help from Jayne himself, however, they escaped. And a major issue would not present itself again until Jubal Early. Mr. Early wanted to kidnap River because, well... he was a bounty hunter. Simon tried to stop him, really. He just failed miserably. Luckily, Mal was able to toss Early into the void of space.
And then, at least a year later, there came The Operative. He wanted to take River back to the Alliance. Simon was thrown through a lot, with Mal wanting to kick them off the ship. He stayed, however, after it was deemed safest for he and River. And then there was the battle with the Reavers. It was like nothing he'd ever seen before, nothing he could BELIEVE. There they were. The crew of the Serenity, fighting an army of the galaxy's largest threat.
When they were without grenades, trapped behind blast doors that would not close, with two members of the crew dying... River pulled a surprising move. She leaped out, tossing Simon his bag and closing the door. He believed her to be dead. But she survived. And Mal got the word out.
A while later though, Captain Reynolds disappeared. It was discovered that he'd been whisked away to some other universe. A few days later, the Alliance found Simon. Instead of tossing him in prison, however, they decided to test their portal. And test it they did. By tossing Simon through said portal, his wrists behind them, tied together, with a longer rope connecting him to the Alliance ship. They had every intention to bring him back and ask him what he saw. They did NOT, however, expect the portal to close, snapping the rope that connected him to them. Though his wrists were still tied, they had no way to get him back now without entering themselves. And THAT was just too dangerous at the moment.
