Here's the second main protagonist for Code Lyoko I'm applying for. Hey, you all had more than a week to try applying for her before me. Ahem, anyway... I'm still waiting until I've fully established Rico, my EarthBound OC, into Dimensional Clash before I start using these guys, but it's better just to apply for them and get that step out of the way ahead of time, am I right?
Full Name: Aelita Schaeffer/Aelita Stones
Nicknames: Princess by the gang, Mrs. Einstein by Sissi
Age: 13 (biologically)/23 (chronologically)
Height: Average, I assume
Weight: See height
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Formerly somewhere in the mountains; later the Hermitage, Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, France; then Lyoko; then Kadic Academy, Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, France
Franchise: Code Lyoko
Physical Description: Aelita has pink hair and green eyes. Her outfit consists of a dark purple dress that comes to her knees and light pink Quarter length leggings underneath. Her boots are a deep red. Her night clothes consist of white socks (sometimes barefoot) and an over sized pink t-shirt with a red letter A on the front. Aelita's Lyoko attire consists of a form-fitting outfit of various shades of pink, sliver shoulder pads and chest strap, a clear skirt-shaped wrap around her waist, and dark red fingerless elbow-length gloves. She also wears a star-shaped bracelet on her right wrist and can give her energy wings. She has elf ears with an earring on the left one and hot pink marks under her eyes.
Weapons: On Lyoko, any other virtual universe, or as a specter in the real world based on her Lyoko form, Aelita has the power to fire pink (yellow in the real world) Energy Fields to destroy XANA's monsters. As they encompass the entire target, she doesn't necessarily have to hit the Eye like the others do, but Mega Tanks need to be open when hit for them to be affected.
Abilities/Powers: Her genius IQ, a power called "creativity" that allows her to manipulate virtual landscape, create dopplegangers as distractions, and--while in the real world--interface with computer equipment.
Skills: Schoolwork, computers, music, disc jockeying, and getting kidnapped by XANA
Personality: Aelita is a thoughtful, optimistic young girl, though she can also be rather stubborn at times. She has mutual romantic feelings for Jeremie, but the two can clash from time to time. She is a very smart kid, second smartest in class after Jeremie, and talented with music--particularly, mixing it. Aelita can be self-sacrificing, often willing to give up her own life to save many others, though it fortunately never comes to this. She also has a deep-rooted fear of wolves, which she seems to associate with the day her mother was kidnapped. Aelita tends to have nightmares of her past on occasion.
History: Aelita Schaeffer was born in the mountains after her father, Waldo, escaped with his pregnant wife, Antea, from his old Project Carthage. They lived there until a group of "mysterious Men in Black" kidnapped Antea. Waldo and Aelita moved to a suburb of Paris where Waldo purchased a small forest cottage he named the Hermitage and changed his name to Franz Hopper--Franz for his middle name and Hopper for Antea's maiden name. The only thing Aelita had left to remember her mother by was the elf doll she'd given her one Christmas named Mr. Pück by her dad.
At the age of 12, Aelita noticed her father becoming increasingly paranoid, claiming the men in black who stole her mother would come for them. Aelita saw her dad hide a key in her Mr. Pück doll and told her to hide him somewhere safe, so she chose a hole in the wall behind a painting of a tree in her room. Not long after Mr. Pück was hidden, the men in black came just as Hopper predicted, and the two were forced to escape their home to evade capture. Hopper took Aelita to an abandoned factory where he revealed to her he'd built a powerful supercomputer with scanners underneath it. He then took her down to the scanners to take her "to a world where we will be safe. You and I... forever."
But once they were inside Hopper's virtual world of Lyoko, his chief A.I., XANA turned against his creator and attacked them with monsters. Hopper instructed Aelita to hide in the nearest tower while he shut the supercomputer down from within to prevent XANA from hurting anyone outside. In his final words to her, he told her to never forget him. Unfortunately, in his attempt to steal special key programs from Aelita, XANA wiped her memory of Earth, causing her to indeed forget all about her father.
Nearly 10 years later, a boy named Jeremie Belpois wandered into the factory in search of spare robotic parts when he stumbled upon and reactivated the supercomputer. When he discovered Aelita sleeping in the virtual world and that she had no memories whatsoever, both assumed she was an A.I. With no other name to go by, they decided to address her as Maya. At Jeremie's urging, Maya began exploring the rest of Lyoko, but she was soon attacked by monsters and forced to retreat back to the tower she was hiding in. The tower, fortunately, seemed to replenish her life points.
After Jeremie was attacked twice by robots that seemed to be controlled by the same entity that sent the monsters after Aelita, two of Jeremie's classmates--Ulrich Stern and Odd Della Robbia--got involved with Lyoko and were virtualized onto the world to go meet her. But a slight detour caused them to end up on an entirely different sector from her where they managed to spot a different-colored tower than the others before being "killed" and sent back to the real world by larger monsters.
Jeremie believed the red tower the boys saw, as it was an "activated" tower that linked Lyoko and the real world, could be used to materialize Maya, and the group planned on escorting her to that tower after their classes. But when the same entity that attacked Jeremie and Maya started acting up again, they decided to rush their plans. Meanwhile, Maya had left the tower when an odd string of pulsations caught her attention, but she was attacked by more monsters.
Ulrich and Odd soon came to her rescue, along with Ulrich's skeptic-at-first sparring partner, Yumi Ishiyama. Nearing the red tower, Maya realised that it was the source of the pulsations just as gigantic crabs attacked the group. Although all three newcomers to the world were devirtualized trying to fight the crabs, they provided enough cover for Maya to make it to the tower. Inside, a floating interface reacted to her presence by stating her name is Aelita. It then spelled out a code: "Code Lyoko," which shut the tower down.
After Jeremie and Aelita managed to figure out who XANA was and what he was capable of, Aelita feared it was better the gang shut the supercomputer down and leave her behind for humanity's sake. But they would hear none of that. Taking on the name "the Lyoko Warriors," they resolved to keep helping Aelita get to activated towers, which she seemed to be the only one capable of deactivating, until Jeremie could develop a materialization program for her.
After a series of bumps, close encounters, and cruel dilemmas, Jeremie finally developed "Code Earth" over a year after he started trying. But when the gang tried shutting down the supercomputer, the memories XANA stole from Aelita proved to be a fatal link between them, and the gang had to keep the computer running. No one being the wiser to Aelita's human origins, Jeremie mistook the link for a virus and set his sights on developing an anti-virus. Meanwhile, Aelita had to return to Lyoko to keep an eye out for XANA's towers until Jeremie managed to create a program that could do that for her called the "Super Scanner."
When Aelita began living back on Earth, even the subtlest of sights and sounds triggered memory flashes, leading her back to the "mysterious" Hermitage. It was there that she found her old Mr. Pück doll, and Jeremie discovered that the key Hopper had placed in the doll was actually to a locker at the local train station. Jeremie found Hopper's encrypted video diary inside the locker and stored it on a restricted access part of the supercomputer to start decoding it. Around this time, XANA had led Aelita to a hidden sector in the middle of Lyoko--Sector 5--and attacked her with a jellyfish creature Jeremie dubbed the Scyphozoa in a renewed attempt to steal the keys to Lyoko from her. No matter how many times it tried, her friends would always be there to stop it.
Months later, while Jeremie was still trying to decode the diary, a mysterious force possessed the Principal's daughter, Sissi Delmas, and managed to relay a message to the gang. Played out, the message revealed that the force was Franz Hopper, and he gave them instructions on how to find some useful programs in Sector 5.
When they went to collect those programs, Jeremie discovered among them a fast decoding program he could use to crack the encryption on Hopper's diary. Though XANA tried to stop them, the eventually managed to break through with some help from Hopper himself. It was on this diary that the gang discovered who Aelita truly was and how she was tied to the supercomputer.
Jeremie then set up a mission to go to Lyoko and retrieve Aelita's missing memories, but Aelita was so overwhelmed by the revelations that she decided to shut the computer down behind their backs, ending the threat of XANA even if it ended her as well. But Jeremie found out in time and stopped her. The mission went on ahead as planned, but the whole thing turned out to be a trap set by XANA to steal the rest of her memories and get away with the keys to Lyoko. After XANA used the keys to escape, Hopper was able to bring his daughter back to life, restoring all her memories--old and new.
With XANA escaped into the Internet, Jeremie set to work on a way to track XANA and go in after him. At Aelita's urging, he also set to work on locating Hopper to bring him back as well. Angry about being followed, XANA set to destroy the heart of Lyoko in Sector 5 to prevent the gang from tracking him. When that proved too difficult with the gang always going in after him, he began possessing Aelita through the Scyphozoa and using her to erase the surface sectors, which the gang needed to get to Sector 5. Though he managed to destroy all four surface sectors, Jeremie was one step ahead and created a direct-access virtualization program to the core sector.
But fighting XANA was starting to take a toll on the gang, as the school faculty was beginning to notice their absences. So, Aelita suggested the gang initiate William Dunbar, as he'd helped on a few earlier missions. Only Yumi seemed against the idea, but the following mission changed her mind. Unfortunately, the next time XANA attacked the heart, everyone in the gang except Aelita and William were held back by different obstacles, so they had to go in by themselves. William's cockiness eventually led to him being possessed by by Scyphozoa, and after he defeated all the Lyoko Warriors single handedly, he went on to destroy the heart himself for XANA. Just when all hope seemed lost, Hopper sent the gang an e-mail straight from the Internet that explained how to recreate Lyoko.
After they managed to revive their virtual world, Aelita began getting kidnapped by the XANA-possessed William, who tried chucking her into the Digital Sea where she'd be eternally virtualized like Hopper. Despite these repeated kidnappings, the gang made progress in their fight against XANA and managed to create a submarine-like ship to track XANA on the W.W.W. Aelita named the ship the Skidbladnir--or Skid for short--after a ship from a Viking story book her father would read to her. It was on this ship that the gang discovered XANA had used the keys to Lyoko to create Replikas of the virtual world which he planned on using to attack the real world.
In response, Jeremie managed to develop a way to create digital specters like XANA's in the form of the gang's virtual forms in the real world to "teleport" them to the site of Replika supercomputers. While they worked on destroying these computers, Aelita received a message that seemed to be from her father. It was actually a trick from XANA to lure her to Lyoko, but she fell for it hook-line-and-sinker. Though she was able to escape her prison, William was able to finally throw her into the Digital Sea. It was only when Hopper came out of hiding to return Aelita to safety that the gang realized Aelita's kidnappings were actually bait for XANA's old creator, whom he planned on killing to prevent further interference from him.
Aside from helping the gang destroy Replika supercomputers, avoiding being used as a worm in a game of Hopper-fishing, and deactivating towers, Aelita had also won a spot as the opening act for a rock group called the SubDigitals.
Other: Aelita owns a pink cell phone--which Jeremie gave her as a gift "to stay one step ahead of XANA," during her full day living back on Earth. She also owns a hot pink laptop, though we're not exactly sure when she got that. Jeremie and Aelita are voiced by the same actress, though she voices them well enough that its impossible to tell.
