It was a few moments before K1 turned to look back at Atem. He was forcing a smile. "I'm sorry you all had to see that. Should we get going then?"
It was a fairly transparent attempt at trying to switch the topic from the one of the lockdown. He hadn't expected things to come out all like this.

Atem held up a finger to indicate to K1 to wait, "I want to ask you a question first," Atem was pulling his intimidating gaze. It bordered on a glare, "Is Naoya Cain?"
Yuugi blinked several times. He would have never thought of that. Things had reached a whole different leve of awkward. As for K1, Atem's ability to piece together the situation likely startled him. Atem was done trying to be nice about asking of K1's world. He had more questions lined up depending on how K1 answered the question. Atem was keeping his gaze locked, looking for any sign of a lie if one occured.

The way Atem was looking at him made K1 flinch. He looked away, trying to break away from his gaze, and then nodded.
K1 felt so stupid at the moment. Blabbing all of that in front of the two of them. "I'm sorry," K1 mumbled.

"The other me, that's enough..."
Atem slightly softend his gaze, just now realizing how harshly he was glaring "Don't show that weakness," despite being a statement that should be harsh, it sounded remarkably like encouragement, "If you're doing this for the right reasons, you need to keep a strong will."
He didn't expand on what he was trying to say, hoping the implications would come through. There were a lot of holes in the story, and he was having to make educated leaps all over the place. But from what he could gather from the recent conversation and everything that had occured until now, K1 wasn't doing it for the power. At least not for the sake of power. He tried to sound serious while not being critical. He had to draw on his memories of speeches as a Pharoah for this.
"It would help if you could tell us everything about the lockdown. I'm still having trouble fathoming why you'd want to follow the man who killed you. I'm sure you have your reasons,"
Yuugi took a breath in. It seemed Atem was trying to be more careful around the situation now. He could tell Atem was less harsh and more concerned.
"He's on a razor edge. The slightest wind could knock him into the darkness," Atem spoke to Yuugi through his mind. Yuugi merely nodded.

K1 sat back down on the rock and sighed. He was still avoiding looking at Atem. "Fine. It's no use hiding anything about the lockdown now."
"The lockdown started because God decided to have another ordeal for humanity, and chose to use Tokyo, during a date when the Shomonkai, this cult of sorts who were preparing for the ordeal, would all be gathered in Tokyo. The day after they all gathered, the army, under the direction of angels, locked up Tokyo. No one could get in or out. Once they were in, they weren't allowed to leave. Demons started showing up. It became hell on earth in there. Naoya gave me and my friends some modded COMPs that would let us protect ourselves. I didn't know what the hell was going on, but it was just insane." He paused before continuing on. "And Naoya... Naoya was like a brother to me. I didn't know life without him. I didn't know about the Cain thing back then--hell, how could I know, we were three when we met-- he was just like a somewhat assholish big bro to me. So, even with all of the stuff going down, I still trusted him.
"As time went on, the lockdown got worse and worse. There wasn't enough food to go around. People kept getting killed by demons. It didn't look like the government was ever going to let us out, and they probably weren't going to; everyone's Death Clocks were set to hit zero on the last day of the lockdown. Yuzu... she just wanted to get out of there, no matter what would happen to humanity because of it. Keisuke was dead by then... Midori was in denial about everything... and Naoya wasn't telling me anything. And then I had the Throne of Bel to worry about by then too..." K1 stopped, and looked up at Atem.

There was a remarkable amount of understanding in Atem's eyes. If K1 could have seen Yuugi, he would have realized that he was still trying to piece things together but had a supportive look on his face as well. Atem nodded at K1's comments, "So you're trying to get this Throne to get the demons to stop, correct? The only other option being the end of the world?"
It reminded Atem in a way of his own past. He has sealed part of his soul into his Pendant at the cost of his own life. It had been to seal, ironically, a demon formed by hatred. If he hadn't have done it, Zorc would have destroyed the world.
The parallels weren't quite the same, but they existed in their own forms. The whole mess with Zorc had been caused by one of his father's priests. The previous Pharaoh had committed suicide in an attempt to atone for his sins, but the one survivor of the massacre to make the items had allowed his hatred to basically end an era of history.
As for K1, he thought he had most of the situation worked out. With K1's explanation the flare up of darkness Atem had felt had dropped. There was definently an internal struggle going on with the teen. If the teen had friends nearby, maybe he could win that struggle.

K1 nodded. "I didn't want everyone to die... and then after that I heard what would happen if humanity failed this ordeal. God would take full dominance over humanity. No freedom. And with how things were looking with Yuzu, it seemed very likely that humanity was going to fail it. I didn't know what to do...
"And Naoya... well, a lot of the things he was saying made a lot of sense. These 'tests' were ruining countless peoples' lives. So, on the last day of the lockdown, I joined up with him. It didn't go over well with my friends. Yuzu and Midori both left me, thinking that we were going too far. Atsuro stayed at least, and so did Mari, but Yuzu and Midori were both gone." It didn't take much to notice that K1 was avoiding directly talking about what Naoya's philosophy was, though considering Naoya was Cain, it didn't take too much to figure that out...

When K1 mentioned what Yuzu and Midori had done, several things clicked together. No wonder K1 was having issues with balancing alignments inside. And it indeed was clear what Naoya's philosophy was. That was the issue here, and probably why Yuzu and Midori had left.
Yuugi was aghast that his friends would leave him like that. Atem nodded and after a few moments finally spoke, "I was probably unfair earlier, and for that I apologize. But with the route you've chosen, you have to be careful. Ths Throne you're fighting for, its that of demons, correct? I know..." Atem looked away, not liking the memory but feeling the need to share it. He turned back towards K1 after an understanding not from Yuugi, "I know how easy it is to fall into darkness. It's not something that's easy to recover from. I don't know how different Naoya is from his past, but you need to be careful."
Atem knew there was a chance that K1 would be upset with him for warning him abou Naoya. But he'd made the decision to stay with the teen. The only thing that would drive him away was a final descent into darkness, whicb with the situation at hand was sadly possible. If there was a God like K1's in his world, He had not interfered in Atem's life time. He knew the stories of Moses and the like from his own country's history, but had always felt that was more the power of Man hiding behind a veil of religion.
Yuugi agreed with more force than usual. Yuzu and Midori's actions has pushed K1 into the quandry his other self felt the teen in. He couldn't imagine if Anzu or Honda were to turn their nose up at him. Atem had told him of the events surrounding Dartz. He could only fearfully imagine how Atem would have reacted had their friends left him over his actions with the Seal of Oricalchos. Atem's stance shifted, and K1 would see Yuugi had taken dominance. He was holding his hand out to K1.
"I'm sure it'll be fine," he smiled one of his characteristic smiles.
(OOC: Naoya's up, if you have any ideas for an entry, PM me. X3)

K1 looked away from Yuugi's hand, and then took it. "Yeah..."
Before he could say anything else, K1's COMP began beeping. He opened the COMP up, and gasped as he saw the author of the mail. "No... no way..."

Yuugi saw all the color drain from K1's face as he read the e-mail. He looked confused as he pulled out his own COMP. He hadn't heard a beeping, but K1's expression... he looked at his. He hand no new e-mails. He looked up at the other teen.
"K1-kun, are you alright? What's wrong?"
Atem was a bit confused as well. Whatever message K1 had received had only been sent to him. And it quite clearly worried the other teen.

K1 was still staring at the mail, unable to believe what he was looking at. But... Naoya was back in the lockdown, wasn't he?
"It-It's Naoya... he mailed me..." K1 said. There was an expression on his face that was a mixture of happiness and fear. Why was he afraid? Naoya was his cousin, after all.
He looked up at Yuugi, and figured out why. He was afraid of how Yuugi would react. Well, he wouldn't find out until they met. "We... we should go back to the apartment complex," K1 said.

Yuugi's eyes widened, surprised at the revelation. However, he quickly made an effort to look supportive.
"The other me, can I ask something?"
Atem paused, a bit concerned about it. However, he nodded.
"Let me keep dominance. I know he'll try to manipulate me, but I don't want K1-kun to think I'm hiding"
"Alright... just keep the Puzzle on. We don't know how he'll act."
Yuugi nodded, but he made sure to wait for K1 to go first. If the other teen would let him, he'd walk beside him. Right now what K1 needed was the support of friends. At least that's how Yuugi felt.
