Souji recognized the handshake. Naoya was overconfident, and wanted to be on top, obviously. He was one to watch out for, though Souji had already figured that out. "Ah... you're... Keiichi-san's brother, perhaps?"
"Actually, he's my cousin," K1 corrected.

Naoya removed his hand and nodded, "It's a common mistake. Our fathers were siblings, and I moved in with Keiichi's family when I was twelve."
The man didn't say more, but he wouldn't be surprised if the question was asked. He noticed Souji was keeping his eye on him. It seemed like he wasn't the only observant one in the group. It was quite possible Souji knew Naoya was returning the scrutiny. He was making no effort to hide it, nor was he making it obvious. Pretty much normal Naoya.
Yuugi glanced around. He wished he had some proof about Naoya's eavesdropping. While it was technically possible he had figured it out from other signs, possibly things K1 had said, Yuugi didn't think so, "Shouldn't we get off the stairs? I'm not sure being clustered together like this is a good idea..."
Actually, it was more because Yuugi felt crowded. The stairs weren't that massive, and there were four humans and the same number of demons. And the snake creature Naoya had was pretty massive. Yuugi noticed it seemed fairly uncomfortable, having to hold its heads lower than it seemed to like. He wondered how Naoya treated the demons, and somehow doubted he was all that kind to them.
Now that he thought about it, he needed to bring his Kobold out next chance he got. He hadn't given it much space...

K1 looked around. "Oh, yeah."
"Can we head outside actually?" Souji asked. "I want to check something."

Yuugi looked nervous. His Persona didn't seem all that capable in a fight for anything other than healing, and he wasn't really sure how he was supposed to use a cellphone strap as a weapon. Magical or not. And he didn't want to ask K1 for it back without an idea. The best Atem could come up with was to use it as a focus, but neither he or Yuugi could use magic without the cards.
Naoya glanced towards K1. He seemed willing to go with Souji. It seemed his cousin had a level of trust towards the silver-haired teen. Considering that both he and Souji were observant... no, it was likely because Souji had helped him before. He gestured to his demons to move out first. Ananta was the largest of the group and would do best to head out in front. The wordless communication would make it clear to someone as observant as Souji that Naoya wasn't one to speak unless he felt the situation required it.
Yuugi saw Ananta head out and waited for K1 to show he was going to follow before heading after the group.

K1 followed after Naoya, his two demons also following after. Rangda stayed to the back of the group, due to the blades on her feet, but Culebre flew over the group.
Souji was attempting to get in front of Naoya at the moment without shoving.

Naoya saw Souji out of the corner of his eye. He didn't know if the teen knew if he saw him. If the teen wanted to go out in front that badly... he stepped to the side to allow Souji past. Keiichi had the group covered from above, and if Souji got attacked first it would allow a better observation of the way the teen fought.
Yuugi was roughly in the middle of the group. He seemed to be rather deep in thought, but he was actually talking to Atem in his mind. It wasn't that he was unaware of the situation. Atem had noted that Souji and Naoya seemed to be battling for dominance. It seemed to have started with the handshake. It still struck Atem as odd the way Naoya had shaken hands. Even the Western world rarely used that handshake anymore, let alone the Japanese and their tendency to bow.

Souji glanced back at Naoya after moving forward. Strangely, there didn't seem to be anymore shadows wandering about inside the apartment complex. After a bit, the four of them eventually made it outside. Souji looked at the skyline. K1 looked at where Souji was looking.
"...What the hell is that?!" K1 yelled.
Off in the distance was a giant tower that appeared to be a chaotic conglomeration of many buildings.
"Thought so," Souji said. "I think that's Tartarus."

Yuugi looked up as well, and his eyes got wide. There were a lot of odd things in the Dark Hour. The pools of blood, the off color moon, the coffins... but he'd thought he'd seen everything it had. But the creepy neon green tower was... unexpected, to say the least. He felt his other self getting tense, and turned to the side. It looked to the others that he was looking towards one of the demons, but his eyes were staring at something closer.
"The other me, what is it?"
"The darkness coming off of that building... I can feel it from here. It reminds me far too much of Zorc for comfort..."
Yuugi's eyes turned more into saucers than usual. Minato had mentioned something called Nyx. He tried to come up with where he'd heard that term before... he was pretty sure it was something connected to darkness in mythlogy. Actually, Tartarus as well. The underworld? But besides all that, if his other self could feel it despite the tower being so far away...
"That's..." the words wouldn't form. Really, he wanted to say frightening, but that word just didn't seem to do it justice. Freaky was closer.
Naoya turned towards Keiichi for a moment before refocusing his attention on the tower. Souji had said Tartarus. While Yuugi wasn't sure why he knew the term, Naoya was. It was the "hell" of the underworld in Greek mythlogy. There was definently significance behind that, although he wasn't sure what just yet. In any case, there wouldn't be time to reach it before the Hour was up. Although a rarity occured in that his expression shifted. Not to one of fear. But to one of interest. It was gone quicker than it had appeared, but it was likely Souji had caught it...

Souji glanced over at Naoya before turning to the group. "Tomorrow, I want us to meet in the plaza at the time the Dark Hour starts. I want to investigate that tower. I have a feeling that's where the shadows are coming from, and I'm fairly sure that the shadows don't leave Tartarus normally. Their behavior has been strange, especially compared to shadows I've seen."
K1 nodded. He'd like to sleep at night for once, and if they could stop the flow of shadows coming from out of Tartarus, he'd be able to avoid beind attacked. He didn't really want to think about what would happen if a shadow did manage to attack him. Minato had mentioned something about "the Lost" earlier... So it was possible that's what happened to people who were attacked by Shadows.

"We don't have a choice, do we...?" Yuugi said. He wanted a night of uninteruppted sleep as well, and of the group Souji knew shadows the best. Atem was still on edge over the feeling he was getting from the tower. Even with the Puzzle, he was only able to sense darkness in people's hearts, not from buildings. He couldn't read auras. Yuugi could tell that very much worried Atem. Minato had said something about the Hour being caused by man's hatred... could that be why his other self was picking up on it?
Naoya turned towards the group, "Keiichi has things he needs to do and it would be best if he could do them fully rested."
Yuugi glanced at Naoya looking a little worried, but quickly turned away. He didn't think he could take another stare down with the man. There was definently more going on there than Souji knew.

Souji looked suspiciously at Naoya. There was something going on between Keiichi and Naoya, something he couldn't pick out. Keiichi had been avoiding talking about his home dimension for a while... was this why? As Souji thought about these things, time started back up again. The Dark Hour was over. And with it, Tartarus was gone.
K1 breathed a sigh of relief. "Phew... glad that's over."
Souji nodded. "We don't need to find you hanging from a telephone pole too."

Yuugi hadn't even been aware he'd been breathing more shallow than before until he let out the breath as the light returned. At least there wasn't anyone nearby. They had startled Chibiusa by suddenly appearing the night before. However, he jerked his head towards Souji as he made his comment, "Um... Seta-kun, was that necessary?"
Naoya suspected Souji was trying to set him off edge with that information. But he had known about the murder, and in fact knew more about it than the others. The television report hadn't covered the abandoned gun. He turned towards Keiichi, still aware that Souji was trying to figure him out, "Don't tell me you need my help getting up the stairs," he prodded Keiichi. The relationship really did seem more like siblings, but it was easily passed off as Naoya having lived with Keiichi since he was twelve.
Yuugi frowned at Naoya's teasing. It seemed K1 was used to it, but knowing what of the situation he did he was able to see it in the full poor taste. He looked to the group, "We should probably all go back to bed..." he tried to suggest, sounding rather underconfident as he did so.

K1 crossed his arms. "Of course I can get up the stairs, I don't spend all day on the computer like you." he said back, though it was meant in all jest.
Souji nodded. "We should be going then. I'll see you all tomorrow then." With that, he headed back to the entrance of the apartments.

Yuugi glanced back at K1 and Naoya before heading back to the apartments himself. Naoya smirked back at Keiichi, "At least I didn't get assigned extra math work,"
It was not uncommon for the two to exchange insults like this. Naoya always won, of course. They actually hadn't been able to do one of these exchanges since Naoya had moved away. Naoya was well aware it would probably remind Keiichi of those times. It would help set him at ease. After all, if Naoya was nothing else he was manipulative.

"Well I... um..." K1 groaned. "Fine, you win this time..." All of that extra math work had been such a pain too. At the time, Naoya had helped him through the work. Naoya had always helped K1 whenever he needed it, which was why he was having a hard time believing claims that Naoya was decieving him.
He yawned and followed after Souji and Yuugi.
