Souji looked up as he munched on his piece of melon bread. He could see why Minato liked this stuff so much. After gulping down the bite he took, he said, "There's still a fair bit of time before sun-up. I'll wake you all up when they get here, if that's alright." He looked as tired as Yuugi did, but he was too dedicated to watching the two Lost to sleep, though they'd probably be fine by themselves.
Once Yuugi left, he'd go make himself some coffee. That would work well enough to keep him awake, hopefully.

".....Are you sure?" Yuugi paused, "...okay," he said, without even waiting for an answer. Souji was going to be falling down by midday tomorrow, but they had six days. As he turned towards his and Atem's room, he realized he had to be more concerned about Atem. Even if he could talk the fromer Pharaoh into resting all six days, would it be enough...? He didn't want to have to fight alone again.
Those thoughts were running through his head as he went into the bedroom. He fell back asleep quickly.

The next morning, a very caffeine-overloaded Souji lightly knocked on the doors of everyone's rooms, starting with his and Naoto's, and eventually making his way down to Yuugi's room. Minato had moved to the same room K1 and Naoya were still in, and was giving them a pitying look. They didn't deserve this.
Souji knocked on the door to Yuugi and Atem's room. "Yuugi, Atem. It's morning. Kaini and Himitsu-san should be arriving soon." He paused. "If you still need to sleep, that's fine."

Yuugi jerked a bit at the knocking, but recovered quickly. Atem was a bit more sluggish about awakening, and didn't even hear anything Souji said.
"Atem, stay in bed...."
"Partner, I'l-"
"No. I'm not trying to be mean... I'm really not. But Minato-kun said that something is gonna happen at the next full moon. I don't... I don't want you to be too tired to fight then..."
Atem hadn't even moved from the position he had woken up in. The one time he could recall being this exhausted was during one of the fights with Thief King Bakura. He would have nodded had he been in a good position to do so. Thanks to the direction he was facing, he could see Yuugi's relieved smile. He'd apparently moved enough for the teen to pick up on. He wanted to recover rather badly. He felt so defenseless like this. He closed his eyes and was back asleep before Yuugi got the door open.
"Atem is going to stay in bed... where is everyone else?"
Yuugi had expected at least Kanji to be up. The bleached haired teen had a lot of energy to him.

"Minato's with Keiichi and Naoya. Kanji should be up already... Naoto's waiting outside for them to arrive," Souji explained. There were rather obvious bags under his eyes, and it looked like he'd been up all night long watching over the two.
-----------------
Minato held out two more pieces of melon bread to K1 and Naoya. Unlike the ones that Souji had given them, these were whole rolls of melon bread. K1 lifted his head.
"...uh.... uaaaah..." Obviously, he was still incapable of forming coherant words. After a moment, he reached up and took the bread, and slowly chewed at it.

".........." Naoya slowly looked up, somehow looking at Minato without actually looking at him. It wasn't quite the same as the lights are on but no one is home, but more like he was looking at some unseeable distance past Minato. His eyes were unfocused, that was for sure.
He took the bread after a few moments and began eating it. Again, it was clear that he was doing so more out of being expected to. It was simple, required little movement, and clear that it was what waxs expected from the offered food. But somehow one could tell Naoya was just a touch worse than Keiichi.
Yuugi looked concerned. He was about to say something but remembered a bit of conversation last night and nodded. More to let Souji know he'd heard him than anything else. Kaini would be arriving soon, hopefully the condition of K1 and Naoya wouldn't scare him off. Souji couldn't keep this up. -----
Kaini appeared amongst some trees, and his disorientated lack of panic meant he proceeded to faceplant into the side of one. It made a huge amount of noise that Naoto was unlikely to miss. After a few more moments of thrashing, Kaini came out of the trees. He saw Naoto and held himself sorely as he walked over to her.
Naoto had never met Kaini before, so she wouldn't be able to tell the contrast to the Kaini of a week ago. But there were subtle indicators of it. One, he looked like he was more sleep deprived. Not to the extent of Souji, but there were noticable bags. But at the same time, he also seemed more aware. More capable in a fight to those that could sense that kind of thing. But most noticable was that he seemed a bit on edge, as if he was ready for anything to jump out at him.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for a teenager named Mutou Yuugi... he should be with some others..." after all, Naoto hadn't been with the group when he'd met them. Kaini was using Japanese based on Naoto's apparent ethnicity. He hoped he wasn't making a mistake that had been made in relation to him before.

The first thing that Naoto noticed was the uncanny resemblance to Keiichi as Kaini approached. The appearance, and the clothing choices... Yeah, definitely a very uncanny resemblance.
"They're inside," Naoto said. She looked to the side. "Please don't be alarmed by anything you see.
---------------
From where Souji was standing and the general silence of the cabin, he could hear Kaini's voice outside. Looked like Kaini was there. He walked to K1 and Naoya's room.
"Minato, Kaini's here," Souji said. Minato looked over at Souji.
"...Right." Minato walked out. "Is Kanji still asleep?"
"I guess so."

Kaini hesitated. Why would he be alarmed? It was clear the worry that popped up but Kaini nodded. He hadn't realized the group had gotten another member since before. Actually, it had gotten two. Three, really, since Minato hadn't been with them when Kaini first met Keiichi. He walked past Naoto, and there was little doubt she missed that he was keeping an eye on her. the teenager came across as a little big paranoid. He knocked on the door.
"Mutou-san...?"
Yuugi looked up. The voice sounded just a touch different from before. He glanced over at Keiichi and Naoya, planning on telling them Kaini was here. Then he remembered that Keiichi didn't really like Kaini and Naoya was... well, it was pretty much impossible to tell what Naoya was thinking unless he wanted you to. He walked over to the door and opened it.
"They're back there," Yuugi pointed.
Kaini looked up and saw the two. His first thought was that it was creepy. Zombies better described them than humans. Naoya's head bobbed just a touch, but he didn't move beyond that. Kaini walked over to where Minato and Souji were, passing his hand in front of Keiichi and Naoya's faces in a traditional "earth to" motion. He looked over to Souji. From what he remembered, he was the closest thing the group had had to a "leader".
"What happened to them?" The way his voice carried a slight growl was... more like Naoya. Or Keiichi in his darker moments, like the one Souji had been privy to after Kaini had met Keiichi for the first time.

The slight growl that Kaini gave indicated that he had more in common with his twin than he probably realized. His voice fit how Keiichi had talked during that one dark moment when the twins had met. And, it seemed that despite it all, Kaini was showing compassion for the two of them in some odd, angry way.
As it was, Souji decided he wasn't going to hold back at all in his explanation. "Their minds were devoured by shadows. They're nothing but empty shells now. They can't think, speak, or feel anything. They can eat and move, but just to survive," Souji said. He paused.
Minato spoke up at this point. "They were targeted because they were able to be active during the Dark Hour, but couldn't summon a Persona like the rest of us." He put his Evoker up to his head as he said this to emphasize the point before lowering it again. "It's a wonder they were able to stay safe for so long before this happened, but with the Dark Hour on the island again now, it was only a matter of time."

Kaini glared at Souji's vague explanation. Well, vague to him. Himitsu had never used the word "shadow", and for all Kaini could figure Souji was being metaphorical.
Until Minato spoke. The first part, before Minato put a gun to his head, worried Kaini enough. They were targeted for not having a Persona. He didn' t have any idea what a Persona was. He tensed up when Minato put the gun to his head, not relaxing much when he lowered it. It was surprising they had lasted as long? What did that mean for him.
He jerked at a movement behind him, but managed to stop before turning to see what it was. The others hadn't reacted, so it must not have been much. He looked towards Yuugi, "Mutou-san, can you help me get them outside. Himitsu can get them back, but I think they need to be in a more open area."
Yuugi nodded, the thought of why he was being asked and not Minato or Souji not occurring to him. Kaini actually had a reason. Yuugi looked the least likely to attack him. The weakest of the bunch if you would. Yuugi walked over to Naoya and with a gentle push the man stood to his feet. Kaini had carefully grabbed Keiichi's shoulder and guided his twin to his feet.

K1 slowly stood up, with Kaini's nudging helping him quite a bit. Again, it was clear that he was only moving because he had to; he would have just sat there all day had Kaini not made him move.
Souji and Minato both looked on, while Naoto was keeping an eye on Kaini. There was something strange about the Kimuras, from what she'd seen so far. Naoya was just plain mysterious about eveything, Keiichi tried way to hard to hide everything about his past, plus his apparant hidden dark side, and Kaini was overly paranoid about something, and didn't seem to hide that dark side as well. All three appeared to carry special COMPs that could summon demons (not COMPstations, just plain COMPs for some reason. They appeared to be completely different from the COMPstation Portables of Naoto's world as well, with a different build. The only comparison seemed to be the fact that they were both video game systems and the company that made them), and had a reason they'd come to the island. They had not been randomly transported there like the rest of the group. At the very least, Keiichi and Naoya had come there on purpose. The fact that they were all active during the Dark Hour was rather strange too. Most people were not active during the Dark Hour, and only people with the Potential to summon a Persona could be. Yet this family (and that was something she had to note; that it was the whole family that was like that) could stay awake then.
It was all rather mysterious, and something that she needed to look into.

Kaini kept his hand on Keiichi. It seemed the teen would sit right back down if he didn't keep his hand there. He looked towards Minato, "You said Dark Hour, right? I don't know what it is but if you know how to stop it then get to it. What you just said means no one's safe..." he paused, "And for all I know you guys are the cause of it. You guys can use Persona and only Persona users can be awake during it? That seems suspicious to me..."
"Kurosawa-kun, that's not true!" Yuugi said as he gestured with his free hand. It was clear he was going to go on with his explanation unless someone stopped him. It wasn't clear how he was going to go on, though.
In either case, Kaini was probably doing a rather good job at peeving Minato off. There is little doubt in this author's mind that Souji would be pissed off by the comments, but Minato was more directly involved...

Minato was very much pissed off, and it showed, which, considering his expression up until then (still that of resigned depression) was very different. Souji had stepped forward to defend them when Minato, who usually stayed to the sidelines, stepped forward.
"You think we're behind it!? Listen, asshole, this stupid hour ruined my life. My parents died when it was created and I was turned into a seal for the thing that created the hour in the first place. I died to seal the Dark Hour away after Death got released again! And you think that I'd seriously want to bring it back after all of that?!" Minato yelled. Too bad it didn't occur to him that his little angry rant would be a bit confusing to anyone not in the know about how he got to the island, or what had happened back in his home dimension.

That reaction had surprised Kaini. He even took a step back, likely causing Keiichi to take a step back as well as the younger twin still had his hand on Keiichi's shoulder. Minato's parents had been killed? He did feel kind of bad... he hesitated and in his hesitation dropped his glare.
"... I'm sorry," he was still frowning a bit, "I'm just concerned about Keiichi. I have to protect him... save him..." the last part was mumbled, but it was probably something of interest to Naoto. Yuugi turned his head back towards Minato, hoping the teen would accept the apology.

Minato's expression dropped as Kaini muttered his apology. "...It's fine. I'm sorry for yelling." He looked to the side. "Just go. We'll contact you once the Full Moon's passed. They should start to recover after then, and be back to full health after a couple days."
Naoto took note of the small "save him" comment Kaini made. What the hell had K1 been getting into back in the lockdown? Whatever it was, it couldn't have been good. She looked to Souji, and gave him a look that said they would discuss this later. Souji nodded.
