Abel had realized that his injured shoulder was injured worse than he'd thought as he'd gotten further away from his fight with Lucifer. It was bleeding a fair bit, though he'd had worse. Still, he'd liked this jacket. He might have gotten it for free, but he'd liked it.
As the Dark Hour lifted and Abel finally started getting close to the Hotel, Tartarus disappeared from the world, and Abel began to feel a bit more relaxed. Only a bit more, because he was still worried about Lucifer. He looked up as he sensed the familiar presences of Nyarlathotep and Cain. He was a bit confused, though. What was Nyarlathotep doing here? It had been over a day since he'd last reported; not like Abel had minded. He personally didn't care for the demon's presence.
He finally came into view of his brother and the demon that had formerly been contracted to him and sighed, continuing to walk over to them, very carefully walking so that he didn't shift his shoulder so much and it didn't hurt any worse.
"I'm sorry I was gone so long," Abel said. Despite his calm words, he was still radiating a bit of fear. Well, he did still have human emotions.

Cain narrowed his gaze at his younger brother. Back to that criticism with caring only siblings seemed able to pull off. Nyarlathotep smirked at the condition and fear coming off the King. If he wanted to criticize him for his haughtiness, he'd just hold that he had some rather important information above the King's head. It's not like the King liked him to begin with.
Cain took a step forward of his own to close the distance and grabbed Abel's sore shoulder. He felt the blood seep through the clothes, but he didn't loosen his grip. It was in fact a bit firm, and probably painful considering the condition. He didn't question the change in outfit, but he stared Abel in the eyes. The actions combined would under normal circumstances be a bit dangerous... but there was that fear Nyarlathotep had reacted to. Cain found himself doubting Abel would have reacted like that even to angels.
"What happened?" Cain demanded. He didn't care about the time Abel had taken, he cared about his condition.
"You're frightened, Your Majesty," Nyarlathotep stated, well aware of how obvious it was and all implications.

For once it was Abel who broke the gaze when Cain grabbed his shoulder. He winced from how Cain was gripping his shoulder, and he was still looking away from Cain's face. He didn't even really react to Nyarlathotep's obvious statement, which in normal circumstances would have earned a reprimand from Abel, but at the moment he seemed too anxious to do so.
"I had a run in with... I think it was Lucifer. He felt like a demon at one point but his energy was off. And then he sprouted these six wings," Abel shuddered. "It had to be Lucifer, he just felt wrong. And his human form had blond hair and dual colored eyes."
Abel didn't say that things felt wrong all that often. Since becoming a demon, he usually could sense what things really were, and it usually amounted to demon, demon, Shadow, and even more demons. Call it a sort of instinct. But he hadn't been able to really pinpoint Lucius. He'd felt like a demon. And then he'd felt like a sort of angel. And he'd even seemed human at one point. But all of those times, there had been something indescribably off about him. Of course, he knew now that it was because he was dealing with the most powerful of the fallen angels, Lucifer himself. Abel was just thankful it hadn't been Satan. That would have been even worse.
((OOC: And before anyone starts saying that "HOMG LUCIFER AND SATAN ARE THE SAME PEOPLE" they're not in the SMT universe. Lucifer's the leader of the Chaos faction and Satan's YHVH's right hand man in SMT. It's kinda complicated.))

Cain reached glaring as Abel looked away. The person standing in front of him right now was... Abel. Not the King of Bel, Abel. Not Keiichi Kimura, although that was far closer. The teenager had more in common with that first life right now then Cain cared to think about. He scowled and grabbed Abel's chin with his free hand, forcing the teenager to look at him. If Abel tried to at least avert his eyes, he'd squeeze more with the hand on his shoulder. A bit of blood had seeped between his fingers now.
"And you ran away with your tail between your legs and giving off this level of fear?" Cain scolded, even with the way it was framed as a question.
Nyarlathotep had looked surprised as Abel said what had happened. Well, wasn't that interesting? He moved forward a bit with a flap of his wings. He positioned himself a few feet back from both men and glanced between the two of them with succession. His news could wait.

Abel glared back at Cain as his brother forced him to look him in the face.
"Well, what did you expect me to do?! You and I both know that was a battle I would have lost. I doubt it would be very constructive to killing God if I died here," Abel growled. He sighed and tried to look away, which earned him an even tighter squeeze on his shoulder. "Look, I just... reacted, alright? I'm sorry, I'll be more careful."

Cain scowled, letting go of Abel's chin with no small amount of disgust. He pulled his hand off Abel's shoulder as well. He wiped the hand on his shirt before looking back up at Abel.
"You reacted like this as soon as you found out, didn't you? Regret over the action won't change the fact that it'll be almost impossible to get him to take us seriously," Cain paused, "...did he know you're Abel?"
A thought had just occurred to Cain. Considering where they were, it was possible the Lucifer Abel had dealt with wasn't their Lucifer. God was not all powerful. Which meant the entity probably didn't have influence over every dimension. Which meant there was a chance, even if it was small, that there was more than one Lucifer. He didn't doubt the fallen angel had known Abel was the King of Demons, but if he didn't know he was Abel... well, they'd be leaving before the month was out. It had kicked over to the first with the end of that Dark Hour.

Abel knew that. He'd reacted in a way that had amused Lucifer; of course it had been a bad move. Especially since it had been Lucifer. He looked up at Cain's question. His eyes widened as he realized Lucifer hadn't. If he had, he probably would have been taunting him about that the entire fight they had.
"No, he didn't. Then... it couldn't have been our Lucifer, could it?" Abel asked. His brain actually was working a tad bit that night, just not enough.

"Whether he is or not likely won't matter," Nyarlathotep shrugged, "I would think you would understand that, General."
Cain had been about to say something to Abel when Nyarlathotep spoke. He scowled and jerked his head towards the demon as it admonished him. The demon chuckled to itself. For all Cain's knowledge, he was still human. For all Abel's power, he was still young. Nyarlathotep shrugged again, more exaggerated this time. He was looking Cain in the eyes.
"It's more than possible someone of that age and power exists across dimensions in a manner."
Cain stopped with his hand in his cloak and over his COMP. He smirked, "How would you know?"
"I'm a demon, of course" Nyarlathotep chuckled, "Aren't you more curious about that entity that entered Tartarus this night?"

Abel glared at Nyarlathotep as the demon spoke up. He didn't much like the demon, though he did recognize the fact that its abilities were useful. Did not change the fact that Abel thought the demon was a bit of a douchebag. He let the demon make its point to Cain, and then blinked as Nyarlathotep brought up the being that had flown to the Tower earlier. So that had been why Nyarlathotep had bothered returning.
"You obviously won't be satisfied until you explain about it anyways. Go ahead and explain," Abel relented. Ugh, he didn't like Nyarlathotep at all. But it would be nice to know what that giant flying creature was. And judging by Nyarlathotep's apparent amusement, it was something important.

Cain was often hard to read. Many people across history had stopped trying with the man. But it was quite clear he didn't believe Nyarlathotep's explanation as to why he'd know. The nuances of him not accepting that as the full explanation rather than actual disbelief would be lost on most, though. Nyarlathotep nodded. It actually wasn't the only thing he should probably say, but it was the only thing that directly related to their group.
"It was the proof that the Fall is coming. Nyx's Avatar has finally been summoned to Tartarus. Or Ryoji, I should say, as that is his true form for the purpose. Not that I expect that "human" exists as anything more than Death's convenience now..." Nyar looked to the side as if almost lost in thought and muttered in that manner often used by bullies. It would be just loud enough for the two brothers to hear, "Minato sure seemed depressed..."
The demon chuckled. Nyarlathotep seemed to have taken quite a few leaps with that. Perhaps worthy of what Cain could do, but it was still odd. Nyarlathotep stopped there and waited for reactions. He could mention Kaiba and the girl named Kisa's interactions with Izanagi if he was allowed to continue.

So that had been Ryoji. Abel found himself looking up at the sky for a moment before looking back at Nyarlathotep. So it wouldn't be long until the Fall, then. Poor Yuugi. He glared at Nyarlathotep as he quietly, but certainly not quietly enough that they couldn't hear it (which of course meant he'd meant for them to hear it), added that Minato seemed depressed.
"Well, no kidding. Especially since he seemed to have a thing for that Ryoji guy," Abel said. Despite his words, he was still glaring at Nyarlathotep. "Is that all? I want to get some sleep, and your face is annoying me."
Abel had said he was going to get some sleep only because Cain was there. He wasn't aware of the fact that Cain knew he wasn't really sleeping.

"All of significant note. Izanagi and his avatar did run into a teenage girl who is apparently the reincarnation of someone Seto knew in his past life. Seto seems aware but unwilling to admit to it, but I think he'd be willing to talk to her if Izanagi wouldn't harass him. It would also seem her spirit is connected to the force that allows the summoning of monsters from Duel Monsters cards, the Blue Eyes, White Dragon to be specific. I'd ask Atsuro if you wanted more information," Nyarlathotep stated.
"Don't be surprised if he talks to you first. It's not all that likely, but you should keep it in mind. Seth is already in my room. In his case, I don't think he'll speak tonight, even if he's awake. I had Kaido get more COMPs earlier, I'll make sure Seth has a new one by morning," Cain turned to go into the apartment but stopped when Nyarlathotep didn't move. He turned towards Abel, instead, "If you haven't shut the COMP down from earlier, do so soon. Nyarlathotep, you are excused."
Nyarlathotep smirked at Cain. He didn't have to listen to a damn thing the General said at this point. Well, no, the standing order was that Cain's words were the King's own unless contradicted. But considering the emotional imbalance and current condition of the King, he had no intention of returning to his duties without a direct order. It seemed the situation was far calmer, that the King was far more human, after all.

Abel regarded Cain's words silently, but he didn't really pay much attention to what Nyarlathotep had said, just nodding to show he'd heard it. He'd been about to follow Cain back into the hotel when Cain had turned around, given his message to shut off the other COMP, and told Nyarlathotep to leave. Nyarlathotep didn't move.
Abel turned and scowled at the demon. "Nyarlathotep, get out of my face and go back to spying on Izanagi and Souji." It was a bit more force than the more-human minded Abel was known for using in his orders, but he was a little mad at Nyarlathotep right now. And just pissed off at the whole situation in general.
Without waiting for Nyarlathotep to leave, Abel began walking toward the hotel. He'd shut off Seth's old COMP once he was in his hotel room. He was hoping he'd be able to use it to track Enjin... well, that could come later, he hoped.

Nyarlathotep shrugged. It was a bit like how Lucius acted, really, but at least he listened. He headed off towards the apartment complex. Cain let Abel past him before heading back into the apartment himself. There was potential problems with sending Nyarlathotep back. By the way he was acting, he didn't think the demon had made direct contact with Souji (or Izanagi), Minato, or the rest of the group. But with that news, it was more than possible the demon would start.
Nyarlathotep had always had more interest in Souji and Minato. They could ask, but he didn't think they'd get a straight answer even if Abel ordered it. There was a similarity in their attitudes over being killed. Not for the first (and likely not the last), Cain found himself wondering what measure of immortality the demon wasn't revealing about itself.
