The church was empty and silent. It may have been long abandoned but the sunlight still shown through the beautiful stained glass windows. This seemed like the perfect place to rest for Toroko. She had been walking all day and still had seen no sign of anyone she knew. She was scared and alone and she wanted to go home.
Quietly she lay down on one of the pews and stared at her large, rabbit-like feet. Her thoughts turned to someone. The one Mimiga (her kind) that, even though he had an entire village to look after, made a point of watching over her in particular when her brother was killed. She thought of King. She missed him.
Slowly her eyes began to shut and she started to drift off to sleep.

The sound of soft wood clacking against stone echoed through the old building as sandeled feet entered the church in a slow, calm, yet purposeful stroll.
Having just come from the east, the samurai had been directed towards the major city, the crowned jewel of Dimensional Island, Void City. Here he would find more information about returning to where he belonged.
But upon coming across this ancient structure, curiosity piqued. An alternate route to the city wasn't a bad idea, wasn't it?
Nostalgia hit him as he walked through the empty church. It reminded him of all the descecrated settlements he had come across in his travels across Aku's world; did war devestate this land as well?

The smoke of a cigar came from a dark corner of the church, where a human-sized cat in a suit took in another drag. "I haven't done anything in a while" he said. "Maybe I should kill this Japanese guy..." he muttered. "Nah... I'm not in the mood to raise havoc" he finished as he crumpled up his most recent bounty poster.

Toroko stirred and slowly sat up. She thought she heard some kind of noise. But who would be in a place like this?
She peeked over the pew and noticed a strange looking man. Definitely human but not like the humans she had seen before. He looked large and powerful, donning a white robe and carrying a sword.
She let out a squeak of a noise before stopping herself and ducking back down into the seat.
Oooohhh, I hope he didn't hear meeee... she thought as she shut her eyes tight and trembled in her seat.

Neither the squeak, nor the rustle of clothes or crumpling of paper, escaped the samurai's heightened senses. He paused in his steps, taking in his surroundings a bit more carefully. And upon his observations, he quickly spotted a white-furred creature hiding behind a bench and a half-human, half-cat in the shadows up ahead.
Nothing stranger than what he had seen before. He said nothing to to disturb the two, though his hand rested gently on the hilt of his sword, just in case, as he continued his stroll.

Toroko's curiosity got the better of her and she opened one eye again and peeked out at the man again, only this time he was closer. She was trembling. He was rather scary to such a small creature like her.
He was getting very close now.
She looked around her quickly to see what she could use. She found a piece of wood that must have broken off or something, around two and a half feet. She snatched it up and grasped it tightly just in case.

"Y'know, Mr. Samurai, you could probably put your guard down" said Leonard as he tossed his cigar butt and prepared a new one. "We're in a church. Anybody who hides here just waiting to attack probably isn't worth your time."

The samurai stopped as the two other beings made themselves noticable. The cat-man had spoken directly to him, and the small white creature was hiding behind a piece of wood in her trembling hands.
He considered this carefully... and removed his hand from his sword.
"...perhaps you are right."

"Glad you see it my way" said Leonard as he pulled out his beam saber and used it to light his new cigar. He then put the weapon away.

Toroko lowered her guard as well. The man suddenly seemed a more...gentle. After lowering his own guard she wasn't scared of him anymore. She still held onto the wood but only because she wasn't sure what she thought of the cat guy.
Of course she still had trouble finding what to say to the samurai.
"Um...uh...mister?" she managed to stutter out.

The samurai almost jumped right back into his defenseive pose, but when he saw what the beam saber's purpose was, he rose a brow in confusion at the cat-person.
But at the soft, shy voice from below, he turned and looked down at the creature that had revealed herself. She looked rather intimidated, so he managed a good-natured smile for her. "Yes?"

The moment he spoke, she felt like she could trust him. Something about his voice was comforting to the young mimiga.
"Um...I-I'm looking for someone...um..." she barely stuttered out. She knew he was a kind person but for some reason was still having a hard time getting out what she needed to say ",...have you seen someone who...looks kind of like me but...he's bigger and he wears a purple robe and has a scar on his face here." She signified where the scar was on his face with her paw.
Maybe he could help her, maybe not. But she felt like she had to try and everyone else she'd seen so far was too scary to ask for help.

The samurai listened to her request, trying to remember if he had seen such a person. Still, he would remember seeing another such creature like her; this island was full of all types of strange characters.
"Unfortunately, I have not seen another creature such as yourself," he replied. "But I am willing to help you look."

Toroko looked disappointed for a moment until he offered help.
"You'll really help me look for him?" she asked smiling wide ", Thankyou mister!"
She turned to Leonard upon hearing him speak.
"Yeah he's something like this tall," she demonstrated the height with her paw ", and yeah white fur like me."
Toroko felt happy finally. She felt as though there was some hope.
