Full Name: Glenn Bladecrest
Nicknames: Frog
Age: 29
Height: 182 cm/~5'10"
Weight: ?
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Porre, Guardia, 600 AD
Franchise: Chrono Trigger
Physical Description: As Glenn is now, he is a tall, green haired man. He once was an anthropomorphic frog, but the curse that had been put upon him to make him that way has been broken and he is once again human. He has long green hair that is tied back at the end so that it doesn’t hang completely freely down his back. He prefers to wear light armor similar to what he wore as a frog, just fitting his current form a lot better. This consists of a bronze breastplate, a black belt, and some light white slacks that tuck into the blue and yellow boots he wears. He also wears a pair of blue gloves in order to help him grip his sword better. Over all of this he wears a green cape that quite probably qualifies as “badass.” The sheath holding the Masamune is held on his back and is angled so that he can grab it with his left hand.
Weapons: Glenn’s main weapon is the Masamune, a sword that only he is capable of wielding. The sword possesses a characteristic ruby embedded grip, with a solid gold pommel and guard. The guard also has rubies embedded in the part just below where the blade starts. The blade itself is made with a magical metal that hasn’t been seen since Zeal fell. Near the base of the blade a ruby is also embedded. Engraved into the blade itself is the name “MELCHIOR” in all capital letters.
The sword itself has its own powers, being highly powerful against magical beings and being able to actually absorb some of the energy of Lavos, an alien parasite who crashed into the Earth in 65,000,000 B.C. and the same creature that provided the catalyst for humanity to gain the ability to use magic.
The sword has two avatars, known as Masa and Mune, who form the sword’s spirit if you wish to refer to it that way. They rest inside the Masamune except in special circumstances.
Abilities/Powers: Glenn has the ability to use Water magic, granted to him by the being Spekkio at End of Time. He also has the capability to use several Dual Techs together with some of the people he once travelled through time with.
Water: Summons a large bubble of scalding water to attack a single foe.
Heal: Slightly heals allies in the vicinity.
Water II: Summons a wave of water to attack several foes.
Cure II: Greatly heals a single ally.
Skills: Glenn is rather skilled with the sword and is capable of using several sword based Techs. Because several of the techs he taught himself after being cursed into his amphibian form required the use of his long, elastic tongue, Glenn has taught himself how to use a rope as a replacement, using it to pull enemies closer to him or cast a very, very light healing spell on the rope to be able to heal far away allies.
Slurp: Glenn casts a very light healing spell on his rope and then snags an ally with it, healing light injuries. Doesn’t really slurp things.
Slurp Slash: Glenn snags an enemy with the rope and pulls them close before slashing them with the Masamune. Doesn’t really slurp things.
Aerial Strike: Glenn leaps up and stabs an enemy from above with Masamune.
Personality: Glenn comes across to those that don't know him as a bit stiff, a bit proper. Often times the man seems lacking in a sense of humor, and what little he expresses tends to be of the dryer sort. He's actually not all THAT uptight, at least given some of the events in his recent history, but he does have a slight bit of trouble with forming bonds. He'll hold more respect for a person that can hold their own in a fight.
He does have a lighter side, but it tends to only be apparent with people he's learned to relax around. In other words, close allies. He's got a fairly "emo" past, and he spent more than a few years blaming himself for certain things. He's now gotten over most of that, and the end result has settled in a more somber individual. As mentioned, you're more likely to see his more relaxed side if he's among people he trusts, and he tends to be choosy about where he places his trust.
He's not vengeful and has a good head on his shoulders, both shown when given the chance to kill the man that pretty much made him who he is today. He values honor and has an extremely high code of such. While he holds people to this rule of "chivalry" if you will, its nothing he doesn't hold himself to. He won't kill an unarmed man, and he is the sort that would never stab a person in the back. If he decides you have to die, he'll do so with you facing forward and armed. He considers betrayal one of the highest sins.
History: Glenn was born in the Kingdom of Guardia in 600 AD. His closest friend was Cyrus, a knight who later served as the king of Guardia’s Captain of the Guard in that time, and Glenn served as Cyrus’ squire. Glenn accompanied Cyrus to retrieve the Hero’s Medal from the Toad King and later travelled to the Denadoro Mountains to retrieve the Masamune from where it rested on the mountain’s peak. It was after this that things went wrong, and Magus and Ozzie, the reasons that Cyrus had travelled to find the Masamune (which was rumored to be the only weapon that could kill Magus) in the first place, appeared. Magus killed Cyrus and broke the Masamune into two. Glenn managed to grab the broken hilt of the sword before Ozzie mentioned to Magus that Glenn looked like a frog without a pond to hop in to and convinced Magus to give Glenn a form more befitting of him. Magus casts a curse on Glenn that transforms him into an anthropomorphic frog, and Glenn is left helpless and alone in the Denadoro Mountains.
Years passed. Glenn, now calling himself Frog, returns to service after burying Cyrus at the ruins to the north of Choras, claiming to not know where Cyrus has gone and leaving many knights to believe he has disappeared somewhere. Frog continued to blame himself for what happened to Cyrus. He served Queen Leene while moving to a new home in the Cursed Woods to the north of Porre. Ten years after Cyrus’ death, Leene disappears. In the original timeline, it was discovered that she had been taken to Manolia Cathedral and rescues her. This was not the case, however, as a girl who looked remarkably similar to Leene appeared in Truce Canyon. The search was called off as “Leene” had been found. Not long afterwards, a spiky red haired boy appeared that the queen supposedly knew, and he was called up to her bedroom. Frog remained suspicious, and continued his search, which lead him to Manolia Cathedral. Once there, the red haired boy, named Crono, and his purple haired friend, Lucca, aided Frog in his search for Leene. They found the Chancellor, who revealed himself to be the Mystic Yakra, defeat him, and rescue Leene and the real Chancellor. Once the five of them returned to Guardia Castle, Frog stopped to marvel at the girl who had been mistaken for Leene, Marle,’s resemblance to the queen before departing to the Cursed Woods, having felt that he’d failed the Queen.
On his way back, Frog stopped in a pub to have a drink, and ended up dropping the Hero’s Badge while there. It was later found by Tata, who was mistaken as the Hero who would defeat Magus because of it. The badge and the missing piece of the Masamune were later recovered by Crono and two others who had travelled back through time with him, and they attempt to comfort him, saying that only he can wield the sword and defeat Magus, but Frog turns them down, citing his own weakness. Crono and company manage to convince him after they bring the Masamune to him reforged.
Crono, Frog, and an ally travelled to the Magic Cave, the only path to Magus’s Keep. Frog used the Masamune to open the path into the cave up, and travelled to the keep, facing Magus’ generals Slash, Flea, and Ozzie, and eventually Magus himself within. The fight with Magus causes him to lose control of the spell he was using to summon Lavos, and the Gate that opens as a result sends the four of them flying through time.
The group of three eventually arrives in 12,000 BC, where several things happened, the most significant of which being that Crono was killed by Lavos and the mystical Prophet who had arrived in Zeal recently was none other than Magus who knew all of the events coming because he had been a child during this time himself. Magus offered Frog a chance for revenge, but Frog sheaths his blade and spares Magus, saying that killing him wouldn’t bring Cyrus back.
Several things happened after that, eventually leading to Crono being brought back to life. Afterward, Frog travelled to the ruins where he had buried Cyrus and after conversing with Cyrus’ spirit there, Frog was able to lay Cyrus to rest and let go of the emotional baggage he’d had for the past ten years, allowing the Masamune to gain its full power.
Eventually, three of their group travelled to the Black Omen, where they fought their way through to Lavos, and after a long arduous fight finally defeated the parasite that would cause the end of the world in 1999 AD.
At the end of the Millennial Fair, Lucca used the Gate Key to send Frog back to his own time. He arrived back in his own time and found himself changing back into a human form almost immediately after he arrived back in his own time. He found himself turning back into what could only be described as a very pretty human. Seriously, he was probably the prettiest male in the entire timeline. Not that he wasn’t muscular, he was just… pretty. Call it handsome if you must. This also left Frog (now Glenn again) with a dilemma. The queen, the king, and all of the knights at the castle had already seen him as Frog with the Masamune. Eventually, Glenn travelled to the Castle, and while he didn’t tell the King and Queen the truth right away, he was able to become a knight of the castle once more. Time was spent settling back into a “normal” life again. It wasn’t until Leene interrogated him that it was revealed that he was in truth Frog, human again.
Time passed. One day, while Glenn was out, a large gust of wind moved through the trees. Expecting some sort of fiend to appear, Glenn drew the Masamune. He did not expect a large dimensional rip to appear and pull him into it. He knew better than to think that it was a Gate; the Gates were supposed to have stopped functioning long ago. Not only that, but the energy that had ripped the portal open seemed much different from the dark energy of Lavos. It seemed more… harmonizing in a way. In any case, Glenn found himself being pulled into the rip and through the void between dimensions.
Other: Because of contrasting art and sprites (especially the art) I’m saying Glenn’s ambidextrous. Just putting that out there.
I’ll add the Double and Triple techs out later; anyone who’s played Chrono Trigger knows how much of a pain those are to list out.
Personality was written by Mugen because I’m lazy and it’s like 4 in the morning and I’ve spent all night working on this thing. D:
