A black-and-white DeSoto pulled up to the field in front of the City Wall. Well, maybe not pulled up. Maybe 'Crashed into a bush' is a better phrase. Remarkably unscathed, a small rabbot-like creature with a crazed grin and a tall dog in a suit and fedora jumped out of the car.
"Well, here we are on an island in the space between the dimensions." The dog, Sam, said. "The Commissioner said that homicidal maniacs have been disappearing from this place lately."
"But we need them to thin out the population!" Max, the rabbit, exclaimed. "I don't think that'll be a problem so long as you're president." Sam commented. "Come on; let's chat up the locals and find some clues."

"Thin out the population?" Michael Bergeron, the one from the real world, had his arms crossed. "What's this about? Sounds like you're trying to kill people and I can't have that."

Phoenix saw the dog and rabbit popping out. He over heard them talking and walked up to them. "Excuse me. You two wouldn't happen to be detectives, would you?" He asked.

"Freelance police, sir." Sam answered. "We're here to investigate several mysterious murders." "And I'm here to spread my domain!" Max exlaimed. "America could use a few more states!" "I'm sure that'll go great with your warcrime trial." Sam pointed out.

"Oh, right. There have never been any animals as president." Max said sarcastically. "Dumb old Ford beat me to that claim..." "Max is, surprisingly, still the president." Sam explained. "We had to stop and evil conspiracy from taking control of the nation." "Yeah, after we decapitated the old president." Max added.
"I was going to conveniently forget that part, Max." Sam explained.
