The Northern Mountains continued to flurry as the blizzard went on with it's primal fashion.
Honestly, Kosumu could care less. He was immune to the numbing effects of frostbite, being a humanoid star. Grinning ear to ear, he continued walking through the snow. After a moment, he appeared to find just WHY he was up in these peaks in this crazy weather in the first place...
"Home..."
Here it was, Kosumu's star shell, still in perfect condition since he had hid it all that time ago. With this shell, he would be able to return home to his mother and brothers and sisters. All he needed to do was merge with it, and he could rise back into the sky...
But that was not what he was here for.
Walking up to the rock, he hugged the lifeless chunk of rock, nuzzling it caringly. Sure it had no life, but one could've sworn it glowed a little bit, happy to see it's master so close again. But really, Kosumu wasn't going to ascend again, he was just here to visit the shell. He hadn't seen it in so long. "Miss you..." He said, as if the rock was alive... And it seemed to glow, as if responding to him.
......... For a while, it was a tender moment...
Then the blizzard winds stopped...
And Kosumu seperated from the star shell suddenly, his attention caught on something suddenly appearing.
Something so unspeakably dark, it terrified, and horrified the innocent star child to the core...

The harsh winds battered his already abused face, but the beast kept running, stumbling through the white snow. He kept slipping, his four-legged run awkward and his hands and feet lacking grip on the ground. The final time he collapsed, he remained half-submerged in the snow, a barely audible, estranged whimper escaping him.
Though frostbite threatened its terribly exposed skin, thanks to the torn clothing and gnarled, already-worn claws, he felt none of the cold sting him. His body was burning, it was so hot, so relentlessly scorching and he THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO DIE.
[glow=red,2,300]HuRTs... evERYthING hUrtS sO MuCh... hUNgry... sO... sTArViNg...![/glow]
Only the aches of starvation was worse than the burning. And that he would be able to stave off for now. Shakily, he got back up on all fours, taking deep, paiful breathes. Though his senses were aflamed with malice, he attempted snorting his piggish snout in search of blood... fresh blood... fresh meat... he was so hungry...![/i]

Alex was seriously starting to become annoyed by this island and its crazy regions, its crazy regions with their crazy weather. Of course, nature didn't affect him much anymore seeing as he was no longer human, just a regenerative, powered-up shell controlled by a super virus. No, what pissed him off to no end was the sheer amount of nothing. Here there were no military or infected after Alex's blood, no city or sister to protect, no goal to accomplish what-so-ever. Sure, he could play vigilante around the island, but the battles were so easy he hardly bothered anymore.
Which is why he was here, in the middle of a freezing blizzard in the middle of the mountains, searching in vain for.... what? Alex didn't have a clue, he just knew that if he didn't find something to focus on, it would drive him crazy. Growling low in his throat, he suddenly came to a halt, fists clenched lightly at his sides. His clothing flapped about him in the harsh wind and he was soaked to the bone from the falling snow, but he didn't even notice. Alex's stone cold, blue-as-ice orbs slid past his blurred, white-gray surroundings with a frown.
Something was out there. Something as unnatural and unholy as he was. Something that wanted his blood.
....now we're talking.

Kosumu looked shocked stock still, the energy senses he was picking up paralyzing him colder then the winds around him. It was only when he heard sniffing sounds coming ever closer that he realized that he needed to leave...
NOW.
"No worry." He turned to the rock quickly, looking like he was trying to calm it down, even though it shown no real signs of panic. "We leave! Together!"
He appeared to focus his energy onto the rock, his powers of the cosmos reacting to the powers that seemed to be reacting naturally with the power inside the stone. After a moment, the stone lifted into the air, Kosumu smiling widely. Okay now he just needed to lift off himself..!
Kosumu felt himself freeze up when he heard the growl a decidedly small distance behind him...
Oh WHY oh WHY did he turn around..? Now he was going to have nightmares for YEARS TO COME.
[Putting it simply, Kosumu will have to get away with the rock, since it holds his key to getting back up to his home in the space above with his mother the North Star. Just play along, but don't have Double D grab Kosumu.]

It was infuriating, trying to sniff through this ugly, mucus-filled nose... but finally, he caught a few scents on the wind. One was an... airy smell that he could not decipher, and the other was...
[glow=red,2,300]BloOD...fREsh MeAt...[/glow]
Already he began to salivate, galloping after the scent, leaping over the next hill...
...this thing wasn't the meat he sensed. It was that other scent! The other scent clouded his senses and now he lost his meal. He roared in anger at the tiny little thing, practically bristling.[/i]

Alex waited, seeing nothing but the endless snow flurries and hearing nothing but the roar of the wind in his ears. Until, suddenly, a blood-chilling roar tore through the blizzard like a foghorn in, well, a fog bank, obviously. Not wasting a moment, he turned on his heel and sprinted towards the source, slowed only slightly by the deep snow and driving winds. Alex lowered his body slightly as he ran up a hill, strands of red and black energy appearing around his legs as he readied a powerful jump. Just as he created the hill, he leaped high into the air, getting a full view of his surroundings as he leaned forward into a glide.
Below him stood two figures and what appeared to be some kind of floating rock; one figure was small and weak-looking, while the other was so similar to an infected that he slid into his infected vision to double check. No, no signs of the virus, though Alex could just barely see something abnormal in the creature's body. Deciding time was of the essence, he quickly switched to heat vision so that he could clearly see the monster through the blinding snow. He abruptly stopped gliding and dropped down, landing right between the two figures in the snow. However, the landing carried such a force that the surrounding snow drifts burst into the air along with the snow immediately surrounding Alex.
If one looked closely, they would even see that his impact with the ground had formed a small crater in the solid stone beneath his feet. It had also shaken the ground a bit, probably ineffective to the beast, but it might have knocked the other person present over. Not even acknowledging his presence, Alex turned to face the monster and morphed his right arm into his Blade. He tried summoning up his Armor, but realized with a muttered curse that it wouldn't form over his nearly frozen skin. He realized he was lucky to have gotten the Blade to form, since it encompassed the entirety of his arm and not just the skin.
"Come on then. You're hungry, right? Well, I'm standing right here."

Kosumu looked frozen in fear as he saw the furious monster... Person... THING vaguely appear out of the blizzard as if a specter or a ghost. The boy screamed typically at the monster's roar. "T-Talim!!!" That was when he remembered; Talim wasn't here. He was on his own.
The creature seemed furious for some reason or another, though what reason was beyond Kosumu. Just when it looked like the kid was going to have to defend himself, the strange figure appeared, getting between him and the monster.
Kosumu almost seemed confused...
Was this guy giving his life for the Star Child?
When he saw that the man drawing a weapon, seemingly pulling it out of his arm, it seemed that that would be the case.
"N-no!!" His magic was flaring furiously, power beyond anything Alex or Double D had felt becoming apparent. If Double D were still human, he would be able to tell that Kosumu's energy signature was similar to Wally's but far far stronger "Nonono!!" He didn't want to fight, the monster just seemed so scary!! but he didn't want to run away either.
Needless to say Kosumu was at a loss.

The beast was just about ready to SLASH into this creature, how DARE it distract him from his hunt, when the impact blew snow and debris into his face, and leaped back and shook himself in annoyence. WHO DARED...?
...the creatures's ears perked. This was... this was his prey! His prey had come right to him!
But he sensed a challenge. A lower growl rumbled at the back of his throat, his tattered wings flicking angrily in replacement of a tail, and he launched himself at Alex, aiming to take out his throat first.[/i]

Alex growled again as he heard the boy shouting behind him, crying out for them to stop and sending off strange, mysterious energy waves that put his own to shame. He had sensed a powerful energy signature coming from the beast as well, but this was different. He could tell that if the boy lost it for whatever reason, he'd probably get nailed right along with the monster. Gritting his teeth, Alex raised his blade into a defensive position before him and waved his free arm backwards at the only other person present. "Just shut up and leave already. It wants me, not you. So go. I'll be fine," he called over his shoulder gruffly.
He didn't wait to see if the boy listened to him or not, full attention forced to focus on his enemy as he launched forward through the snow. Alex instantly held his blade strong, easily blocking the attack and only sliding back an inch or two from the force of it. Grunting, he shoved the beast away from him and instantly leaped forward after it, swinging his weapon in a downward arc with the hope that it was still off-balance from his shove.

Kosumu trembled at the man's words, crying heavily at this point. He didn't want this man's blood on his hands!! It wouldn't really be on his hands since he wasn't killing him... Oh!! Kosumu was so confused!!!!!
Well, the man said he was going to be alright... Maybe he could handle himself? That seemed quite likely...
................
Finally Kosumu came to a decision.
"Please don't die!!!"
That was the last thing the boy said, before he lifted into the air, towing the star close behind him. Once he was flying high enough, he took off, rocketing at almost unheard of speeds before vanishing over the horizon.
Kosumu would need a new place to hide his star shell. And he would need to find his friends...
Looks like evil wasn't gone from this world just yet...

The creature yelped as he fell back to the ground, SCREECHING as the blade came down and slashed a heavy tear into his torso. His own blood, ebony black, began to drain and stain the soft snow below. Another tack-on to the unspeakable amount of PAIN his body was going through.
Needless to say, the attack left him steaming. Enraged beyond all measure. He was snarling and gnashing and foaming at the mouth. THIS BEAST WAS HUNGRY AND IT WANTED ITS MEAL NOW.
He leaped at Alex once again, throwing ever last bit of his weight onto his prey.[/i]

"Tch, I wish...." Alex had muttered in response to the boy's shout, landing on his feet a short distance away from the injured monster. The same black blood dripped from his giant, arm-length blade, merely confirming that this was no ordinary creature. With one swing, the dark liquid flew off the slick metal, and he brought it back around as he lowered into a fresh attack position. Alex could tell he'd angered the beast, which meant this battle had just gotten more dangerous, but his opponent would also get more sloppy. Unfortunately, with this type of opponent, that wasn't necessarily a good thing.
He drew off of the experience he'd had fighting infected of the same nature, moving to block as the monster pounced a second time. Alex grunted, utilizing his superhuman strength but still sliding back about a foot, yet would have been fine had he not slid in the icy, quickly freezing, black blood. He cursed as he fell onto his back in the stained snow, only his blade and strength holding the beast at bay. Sure, he wouldn't die if he lost this battle, but it would be pretty painful and regeneration would be a bitch up in these deserted mountains. If only Alex's skin wasn't so frozen, he could summon his Armor and easily be shielded from the monster.

At LAST. His prey was now underneath him, pinned down by his weight, and completely at his mercy. It was time to feast.
So why was he HESITATING? What on earth were these cONfuSiNG tHOUghtS iN HiS hEAd THat kEpT scREaMiNg At hIM tELliNG HiM NO STOP PLEASE~! The war between these two concsiousnesses was heated and left him bristling.
But the hunger won.
With a final screech, the monster dived down and plunged his gaping jaw into his prey's chest, tearing flesh and snapping bones and piercing into his heart.

Alex gritted his teeth, staring up at the beast and waiting for it to lunge, to "finish" him off. He was surprised when it took longer than he expected, as if the monster was hesitating for some reason. All possible thoughts on why it would do this left his mind as his blade was shoved away and rows of fangs, each as sharp as the gleaming metal of his arm, pierced his infected flesh. Were he human, Alex would have gone into shock and passed out, probably dying seconds into the "feasting." Instead, he hissed and grunted, viral mind disconnecting from his brain and spreading out thinly in his entire body.
A large amount of its number gathered in his blade, which would likely be spared and would be an excellent limb to hibernate in until a living creature stumbled across it. Thus Alex would survive, and he dropped his head to the snow, closing icy, blue eyes as he listened to the sound of his own flesh being torn and the snapping of his bones. Frowning, he decided he would at least get a little vengeance on the beast, and with a growl he swung his blade around to stab the monster in its side. Whether it made contact or not, Alex didn't know, for he finally lost conciousness and wouldn't wake until he had absorbed the energy necessary to regenerate.

The beast tore its head up, bringing a chunk of meat up with him as he chewed it slowly, savoring the sweet, sweet taste. For the first time, his clattering mind was still and allowed him sweet solice in satisfaction of his meal.
He went down for more, but when the blade struck him again, he howled, and the gash in his side grew and bled heavily now. Still, he vigorously shook his head, tearing at the now limp body below him in anger, snatching a couple limbs and taut meat up. He snorted at the horrid splattered mess of a body he left behind, holding his spoils close to himself greedily before dashing away, disappearing into the blizzards once again.
The creature found a crook in the mountain wall and took shelter from the harsh wind, beginning to ruthlessly feast on his well-earned meat. It was a stomach-lurching sight to behold; muscle tearing, bones cracking, drool dripping, fatty meat hanging from his dark lips as he gnashed and gulped and hiccuped and belched and sobbed...
Wait...sobbed?
The monster rubbed at his eyes with his knobby knuckles as he continued to eat, his eyes stinging as a pain in his chest joined the overall burning pain throughout his body. He didn't, couldn't understand why...why...
[glow=red,2,300]Why am I shedding tears, why did I... do this... what am I doing here, where are my friends, where, how, why, WHY, WHY~![/glow]
His thoughts continued to torment him, even after he cast the last dry bone aside. His entire body ached, screaming for rest now, though he doubted rest would help. His meal barely curbed his hunger pangs, after all. But he was too tired to find more, and nursing a terrible wound. And it had grown dark and cold, and his body was too tired to move.
And so he huddled into the nook, his tattered wings wrapping around his diseased body, though provided next to none cover. He trembled deeply and whimpered; never could he remember ever being this miserable in his entire life. Covering his face, by now drenched in ashin tears, with his clawed hands, he slowly descended into a dreamless, cold sleep.[/i]
