The hot springs. A place of relaxation. A place to meet new people, in some cases.
In Sain's case, it was a nice place for him to land, breaking his fall.
"Waaaaaagh!" he yelled as he plummeted through the air, into the hot spring. The water was splashed everywhere, and Sain struggled to remove his armor underwater, as it was weighing him down. He succeeded and surfaced.
"Ouch... how did THAT happen?" he said, rubbing his neck.

(OOC: Edge, since you agreed go ahead and change it to Invite Only :P ) Why was this route unfamiliar? He knew this park. The park that was perhaps better described as a tiny forest. It wasn't anywhere near as large as the one he had known when he was a child, but it wasn't unheard of for people to get lost in it. People, not him. So why had following that voice gotten him on a route he didn't know?
Link Yuuki was questioning the choices he was making. After all, why was he making them? Fucked up dreams that didn't matter and some girl and her psychotic bodyguard? Maybe it was frustration. Akhar hadn't been reacting as well lately, and Link was beginning to get nervous about the look in his eyes. Not that the seventeen year old would have ever admitted it out loud.
He huffed at his idiocy and turned to leave. He stuck the kendo stick he had pulled out of its carrying case back in his back with his dominant left hand. He could chalk up feeling that it was "right" to draw the damn thing to more of his stupid choices. Even if it was an unheard of case of remembering his dream, it wasn't worth following some phantom voice from it. He turned and was walking away from the area through the tall grass when his foot suddenly hit air. His eyes widened and he managed to let out a shout of surprise as his weight went forward and he fell through the hole in the ground...---------- The blond would create an interesting parallel to Sain. Because he appeared above the hot springs and crashed into the water in the exact part Sain had. Really, it was likely the knight would be able to make out his gender and clothing color. The boy rather overdid the green due to his school uniform. Link hadn't noticed Sain, in any case. The way he hit the water created enough of a splash that some of it would even hit the knight as the teenager sank under. Link could swim just fine. In normal cases, even with his bamboo sword, he could have come up just fine. This wasn't a normal case, because Sain had left an obstruction. Link realized something was holding him under the water and jerked his head down. He was able to make out something green beneath the water, damned if he knew what it was, but his foot was royally hooked through a piece of the armor. The teenager fought his body's natural buoyancy and tried to get his foot loose. It wasn't going well... Sain would probably note the boy was staying under there a bit long... (OOC: Here's an image of him in his current outfit (far right). Not shown is his kendo stick strapped to his back via a sort of makeshift leather sheath deal, the hilt over his right shoulder: yaoinavi.deviantart.com/art/Rebirth-of-Destiny-3-mains-112984026Since you might not know what a kendo stick is, have an image. Might help Sain react to the weapon, too. XD: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Shinai.jpg <- You'll have to CaP that cause proboards hates me. XD)

Sain was not overly surprised when the blonde fell in the water. It was how he'd arrived not even a minute ago. He flinched and shifted when the guest fell in the water, unknowingly snagging the newcomer with his armor.
"Oh, that was a violent drop..." he muttered. Sain wiped the excess water from his eyes. After half a minute he began to wonder why the blonde was still underwater. He tried to shift to get out of the spring, but something kept him tethered in.
Sain realized his armor was keeping the blonde underwater.
"Blast!!" He yelled, reaching under to free the trapped foot.

Okay, this really wasn't good. His boot had seemed to snag somehow or another on the metal at the base of the water. Had Link not been hitting panic mode, he might have identified it as armor. Although people didn't exactly run around wearing armor anymore. The bright idea to pull off his boot had actually come to the teenager, but the damn things were a secure fit to begin with and somehow the water seemed to have managed some kind of seal. He probably couldn't have explained it in the best of time, but as previously mentioned he was beginning to panic.
It was then he heard a splash above him and jerked his head to the side to see the man he'd seen before coming to his rescue. His kneejerk reaction was to be insulted, Link had no small amount of pride. Of course, he mentally whacked himself up the head. Pride did no good of you were dead. He pushed his arms forward to pull back a bit, allowing the man to grab his foot and yank it free. It had worked because the stranger had undone a snap on the thing. Link rose to the surface of the water (really, it was pathetic. It was less than an inch he was drowning by) and let out a huge gasp of air as soon as he broke it. He was taking several deep breaths as he turned to wear the guy was likely to come up at.
Link hadn't noted Sain's ears yet. Where he came from, those without pointed ears were extremely rare. It was considered a sort of birth defect. Sain would probably more than take note of his pointed ears. After all, they weren't something easy to miss to a "normal" human, what with how exaggerated they were. Now that his foot was free, Link was treading water.

Sain was extremely relieved the strange visitor had survived. He loathed death, which was ironic, being a knight and a veteran of war. He observed the poor lad, noting his features, his build, and most importantly, the ears. Sain had seen some odd body features. Red eyes, check. Piercings, check. Excessive femininity in males. BIG check.
Pointed ears. Not a one.
"I'm glad you're all right," said Sain, still wondering what sort of thing would give a man pointed ears. Not that they weren't strangely appealing, in a supernatural sort of way. "I'd ask if you're okay but nearly drowning is a bad place for it."

Link wasn't smiling when Sain surfaced. Not that a teenager who had almost frowned should be. He was coughing a bit, but he seemed to be out of the danger zone. Happy he didn't have to save the man's ass, Link didn't wait for him to speak. He swam over to the more shallow edge of the spring and pulled himself up. He was looking at how wet he was in obvious disgust when Sain spoke up. He glared at the man and hoisted up on of his shoes. It didn't look easy to pull off, and there was a sort of soggy pop as he finally got it off. He dumped the water inside of it out into the spring before pulling it back on. He spoke without looking up as he was pulling his other boot off. If Sain could note this sort of thing, the teenager seemed to have a left hand dominance.
"I didn't need your help, you know. I would have been fine in a few more seconds," Link looked up, "Why the hell are you dressed like that, anyways? You look like some kind of Renaissance Fair freak."
The teenager was rather rude, and he didn't seem the least bit grateful for the help. The help that he had needed, whether he wanted to admit it out loud or not. Beyond that, he was wondering where the hell he was. He had fallen through a hole in the ground, and he was here in a place with a wide open sky? Air was chillier than it should be, too. It was summer, but there was a winter-like cold hanging. He could see his breath as he spoke. Had he hit his head hard enough that he was dreaming?

Sain shrugged off the teenager's rude attitude. Almost literally. He'd dealt with ungrateful rescuees before. Not like this guy was anything new. He casually waited as the teenager finished emptying out his shoes. Since Sain had been trained to see hand dominance as part of his training, helpful as it was to spot a weakness in your opponent's swordplay, he did in fact notice that Link was a southpaw.
"In a few more seconds," Sain began, "you'd have been belly up in the water, boy. If you must know, I'm a knight of the Caelin canton, in service to Lady Lyndis, noble Sacaen plainswoman and heir to the Caelin throne. And what in Forblaze is a Renaissance Fair?" he asked, confused.

There hadn't been any response to his comment. Link paused for a moment and considered calling the man out on it. As such he sort of sat there with one boot half off. After a few seconds, at most, he shrugged and yanked the other shoe the rest of the way off. His shrug of uncare hadn't been almost literally, it had been visible. Link dumped the shoe out into the water and was pulling it back on before Sain began to talk again. He looked up with a sour expression that just deepened at the usage of the term "boy". He was opening his mouth to say something on the manner when Sain revealed his rank and status. Link's expression pulled a complete reversal he just sort of stared with his mouth hanging open. He looked a bit... well, dumbfounded for a few seconds there. Then the glare was back.
"And here I was thinking I hit my head. Is your brain as defected as your ears, or are you just an idiot?"

Sain looked at the teenager, again ignoring the insult. Civility was always best in such situations.
"First of all," he began, "my ears are just fine. I was mildly curious about your ears, as a matter of fact. Secondly, my brain is just fine, and that belligerent remark of yours will go without retaliation from myself." He tried to relax, but the teenager was making it difficult. By chance he had apparently lost his weapons in transit. He spared a moment to worry if his sword had fallen from the sky and skewered some innocent bystander.

Link looked at Sain rather closely as he gave a response to his remarks. The teenager seemed to be trying to figure out if the other man was serious. After a few moments he rolled his eyes and stood up, and the various parts of his shinai clacked together and a bit of water fell off. He looked like he had been about to respond to Sain somehow but his eyes widened and he reached up with his left hand and pulled the bamboo weapon from his back. It was clear he wasn't going to attack. He seemed to be looking for something in the area, but wasn't finding it.
"Dammit, I can't let this stay wet!"

Sain watched the youth grow more and more panicked about his weapon, and realized that a wooden weapon that remained wet would rot and become ineffective. He looked around the area for something to dry it with, since everything he could have used on his own person had gotten wet as well. There wasn't a whole lot around the spring. A bench or two, not even any visible towels. But there was some wood and a fireplace.
"Hey, over there," said Sain, pointing to the fireplace, specifically, the tinderbox beside it. "Can you use one of those?" He got himself out of the water in case he would have to do it himself.

Link paused as Sain spoke, and followed his finger to where he was pointing. He looked confused at the small box by the fire. It didn't look like a matchbox, which was all he could figure the man meant. He looked back at him, pausing to shake the blade again. He didn't look happy.
"I don't even know what that is," Link grumbled, "Shouldn't we look for an electric lighter or at least a box of matches?"
What had gone unsaid, and what Link wouldn't admit to, was that he'd acknowledged that Sain had a point. A firepit could work. Honestly, he would have liked a towel too, but for now that could work. He still didn't have the slightest clue of where he was, but the weapon came first.
