Full Name: Ame-no-Uzume
Nicknames: Uzume
Age: Several hundred years
Height: Taller than most humans
Weight: Average
Gender: Female
Race: Megami Ame-no-Uzume
Alliance: Lawful Neutral
Home: Demon Realm
Franchise: Devil Survivor OC
Physical Description: Uzume is very similar to a human in appearance, though no human would see her as one due to the air she tends to give off. Several parts of her body are adorned with target-like purple tattoos, most noticeably her cheeks, thighs, and ankles. She has very long black hair that hangs down by her ears. Her hair is parted there and loops under her arm, where it’s joined back together by a yellow and purple hair clip. At the top of her head, it’s held in place by a large fan-shaped mask that hides the upper part of Uzume’s face. She is always seen wearing purple lipstick and nail polish, and should anyone see under her mask, one would see that her pupil-less eyes are the same shade as her lipstick. As far as clothing goes, she wears a very simple lavender robe, though it’s missing bottoms of any kind, allowing her to show off lots of leg. Tied around her waist are another fan and a large yellow and purple rope. Uzume also wears a pair of detached white sleeves, which connect to each other with a large flowy white cloth piece.
Weapons: Uzume’s fans can fashion as weak weapons, but she prefers to use them as a focus for her magical abilities.
Abilities/Powers: As a goddess off dawn and revelry, Uzume can use Light (Expel), fire, and wind based skills, though all of hers are rather weak. She can also perform the skills Sexy Dance and Happy Dance, which enchant enemies and temporarily alter their mental states. She can also see in the dark and bring light into dark rooms. Several of Uzume’s more minor abilities are similar to those of the demon Kikuri-Hime, such as being able to transport humans to and from the TV World and sense dark energies.
Skills: Uzume’s a pretty good dancer, even without her powers.
Personality: Despite the fact that she’s a “goddess”, Uzume isn’t really one of the most polite demons out there. Really, her politeness seems to be limited to when she’s around Abel and his court, and even then she has a distinct air of sarcasm about her words. She tends to look down on humans, particularly stupid and unclever humans. She can be quite vain, and doesn’t take her beauty being insulted well.
History: In Shinto mythology, Ame-no-Uzume was a goddess who managed to lure Amaterasu out of the cave she had hidden herself in after Susano-o had rampaged through her rice fields, destroyed one of her sacred buildings, killed one of her attendants, and thrown a flayed pony at her loom. Because no one could lure Amaterasu out on their own, Ame-no-Uzume overturned a tub in front of the cave and started dancing on top of it, throwing off all of her clothes as she did so. The laughter of the gods observing drew Amaterasu out of the cave, and the cave was then sealed so Amaterasu could not retreat back into it. Amaterasu was then persuaded to rejoin the pantheon.
During the events of Devil Survivor, Uzume was just a minor kami who spent her time observing events in the human realm during the Lockdown while never actually joining in like Kikuri-Hime had. When the new King of Bel and demon overlord, a human known as Abel, took control of the Throne of Bel, Uzume reluctantly had to go along with him. Still, she was never really summoned for much until the Court of Bel took a trip to the Dimensional Island, where she was summoned to aid Yuugi Mutou and his friends in their attempt to rescue Ryou Bakura from the TV World.
Other: Abel actually sees Uzume as a replacement for Kikuri-Hime, a demon who had long been in Abel’s group and had acted as Abel’s advisor and mediator until he killed her in a fit of rage. Because of this, Abel’s prone to accidentally referring to Uzume as Kikuri-Hime.
Uzume as she’s portrayed her is just an individual demon, as there are multiple Ame-no-Uzumes in the various SMT games. You can find them as a random encounter at the very least in Strange Journey.
