Souji remained silent as Izanami spoke to herself. She appeared to be understanding things more than he did, which was confirmed by the expression on her face when she turned back toward him. She seemed a bit angry, but it didn't seem to be directed at him for once, thankfully.
"Not since we were in Bakura's reality. He tried attacking me there, but Lucifer stopped him then," Souji said. Lucifer. He hated that demon more and more now that he knew about him. As far as he knew, that demon had pretended to be a Persona-using human, got Adachi to sell his soul to him, and then attacked both Bakura and Malik in order to get the Ring after it had somehow gotten back to Bakura. It was looking likely that Lucifer had been the one who had pushed those people into the TV World before, too.
"I've seen Adachi a couple times since the Fall, but something's always seemed off about him," Souji said. "Which makes me think he might still be possessed."

Izanami frowned deeper than she already had. They were being interfered with by the Judeo-Christian devil? The options as she saw them weren't ones she liked. Izanagi would continue to remain tied to earth (so to speak) with Souji alive. Given the aspect of her brother that Adachi used as a Persona, she couldn't see it as likely Souji was safe. If his anger at Souji's insistance upon not fading was the reason for the split, he would want Souji dead. She looked Souji in the eye.
"Do you have access to your other Persona?" She remembered something about Souji. It was why she liked him, but... "You may have to kill Adachi. Izanagi will not listen to reason once he has something in his head. Unless my brother sees some reason to leave Adachi, I'm not seeing another option," She looked away for a moment, and cut off Souji before he could respond, "Why would Lucifer help you?"

Souji's eyes widened. Kill Adachi?! He couldn't do that. That was one thing he was against, even with how much he hated the man for everything that had happened. Besides, Adachi was just caught up in this mess because of him. If he hadn't pissed Izanagi off, Adachi wouldn't be possessed like he was.
Of course, before Souji had been able to say any of this, Izanami had cut in. He looked annoyed again before he answered her question.
"Adachi sold his soul to him in order to get his hands on the Millennium Ring. Apparently he planned to put the thing with Anpu in it into the other side and let the Shadows handle things, but Bakura ended up in it instead," Souji explained.

So Lucifer was protecting Adachi. She had to wonder if he would consider Adachi of any use now. If Izanagi had used Adachi's Persona to possess him, it was unlikely the man could act. However, if Lucifer was protecting Adachi, that created issues in regards to Souji killing him. It was possible he could with his friends, but it was unlikely he was willing. She'd seen his eyes widen.
"Do you want me to handle it?"

Souji shook his head as Izanami gave her suggestion. He wasn't going to let anyone get killed if he could help it. If he could just get through to Izanagi somehow, he'd be okay. The main problems were Izanagi and Lucifer. Particularly Lucifer. Souji wouldn't put it past Lucifer to kill him just to get Izanagi out of his "property."
Souji paused as the realization hit him. That would work.
"Do you think you could do something to keep Lucifer from interfering?" Souji asked. "If he realizes that killing me is the quick solution to this, he'll probably come after me."

Izanami paused for a moment there. Interfering with what? It was likely Lucius considered Adachi worth more alive than dead, so what Souji had said could have two meanings. The pause only lasted a moment because she knew the first meaning was outside what Souji was willing to do. He wouldn't kill Adachi. And if it was something she could do for Souji...
"Of course I can, who do you... yes. Do you have a means to contact me when you go ahead with this?"
She'd begun in a rather defensive manner. However, she'd seemed to realize this and pull back. As much as she didn't want Izanagi back in control of Souji, that aspect of her brother would stop at nothing but to kill any annoyances. As a matter of fact, it was a good thing she disgusted him. It was likely the only thing that kept him from attempting to kill her own avatar. Souji didn't seem to quite get the fact that "Mana" was technically dead, and without Izanami's powers would be rotting.

Souji had to think about that for a moment. It would take too long to send someone to Bonsai Village to tell her about this... It would be faster just to call her, but...
"Do you still have the cell phone Anpu took from me?" Souji asked. He doubted it. Most likely, as soon as Anpu got done sending Minato and the others on a wild goose chase like he had, he'd tossed it in a sewer or something like that. He put his hand in his pocket and closed his hand around his cell phone. Damn, and he'd just bought this one, too...

Izanami hadn't expected he would, so there was a look of surprise when Souji asked if she still had his cellphone. No, she didn't. The shrine had a phone though, and it was connected because while she was really Izanami, she was also really the head of that shrine. She wondered if Souji even knew that she was putting effort into maintaining this facade. She hadn't even been thinking of a phone when she asked him though. She was a goddess, his body was a created shell for a god. There were ways other than technology to contact each other.
However, Souji then put his hand in his pocket. Izanami had to berate herself mentally for the first thought. While it was true he probably intended on giving her his cellphone, she had no right to take it. The shrine did have that phone. And there was still that other method. She shook her head and reached into her pocket, pulling out what appeared to be a small mirror with a wooden backing and frame. She held it out to Souji.
"Write my name on the back of this when you need me to show up. The full thing, Izanami-no-Mikoto. I assume you know the kanji?"
If Souji grabbed it, he'd feel a slight pull. The fact was Izanami had set it up to link to Souji, but he had to touch it to finalize it. It would prevent anyone else from using it, and that included Izanagi. It was why Souji had to touch it, actually. She had found she couldn't seperate the spirit of her brother from Souji on her own. It wasn't a contract for him, but it did bind her to coming when he called her in the manner she had told him...

Souji raised an eyebrow at the mirror. It almost looked like the mirrors he'd found lying around some realities in the TV World. He took the mirror, but the moment his hand touched it, he felt something like a pull on his spirit. He looked down at the mirror and then realized Izanami was asking him something.
"H-Huh? Oh, yeah. I know the kanji just fine," Souji said. "Is that all?"

Izanami stopped a bit when Souji asked if it was all. She had yet to actually say what she had come over here to say. The teenager seemed in a slightly better mood. Izanami pulled at her sleeves a bit, her stiff hands showing that there was a least some effect from the burns.
"I don't have anything else to do today, no..."
She had to fight from wincing at that. Well that had been a horribly dropped hint. One that probably wouldn't be that hard to ignore. She wasn't going anywhere, though...

Souji caught the obvious dropped hint. He sighed. He still disliked her, he didn't understand the love she had for him, but he didn't really want to kick her out of the apartment like this. From the looks of things, she'd just come to visit...
"Fine, you can stay. I'm going to finish this cake, so just go wait in the living room or something..." Souji relented. He thought of one other thing, and added, "And try not to freak Teddie out."
Well, that was probably an exercise in futility, but hey, it was worth a try.

"Atem, you know?"
Anzu looked fairly surprised. Her turn towards the former Pharaoh distracted her from Yuugi's uncomfortable expression. Atem gave a nod towards Anzu and her cheeks got pink. Actually... that explained a lot. He'd always been more focused on things like cards than her. That one time Yuugi had sent them out on a date had been a bit of a flop. She'd gotten to dance but then Atem had been made to defend her from a guy she actually felt sorry for by the end of it all.
"It's more than that," he stated.
"A-Atem..."
"Partner, its been a week since we stopped the Fall. Don't you think she should know?"
Anzu blinked, "Know what...?"
"....I... I don't... Anzu, I can't go out with you."
You know, it was no wonder everyone who met them had assumed Anzu and Yuugi were a couple. The way Anzu's face lit up was a fair bit like Yuugi was known for blushing. Did he have to come out and say it quite so bluntly? She hadn't even gotten it asked! And it was so... forward. Very unlike Yuugi! Atem had stopped talking after Yuugi spoke up. It was better if he, the one Anzu had actually liked despite her confusion, brought it up.
"Anzu, it's not you! I just like someone else!"
"I'm not upset!" She said. She didn't sound truthful, "Of course you'd like someone else! You've been here for several months, right? I mean, before me and Jounouchi-kun showed up? I'm sorry, I was really rude to ask without thinking of that! But Yuugi, have you been avoiding her? Atem-kun's right, its been... Yuugi, are you okay?"
Yuugi had looked like he had swallowed a bug about the time Anzu said "her".
----------
Izanami looked completely stunned by Souji saying she could stay. She blinked several times before looking up at the teenager. She couldn't see any signs that he was lying. She shook her head as Souji told her to go into the living room and ran up to the counter. She thought for a moment and stepped back enough that Souji could get back if he needed to.
"I can help! I-I mean if you really want to do it yourself, I could soften the frosting or something..."

Souji jumped back as Izanami ran up to the counter. Only after she stepped back did he walk over to the counter.
"O-Okay, you can help," Souji said. "Though really all I was going to do was frost it..." It wasn't like he was going all fancy with this particular cake; he'd just wanted to make one to celebrate the holiday... even if it was just him and Teddie.
-------------------
Atsuro sighed. Well, he'd made to the store in time to get those cakes. They'd been the last ones. All he had to do now was drop this one off with Yuugi, and then he could head back to the hotel. Though he wasn't looking forward to that. Everyone was always so stressed there, and with the markings Abel had gained recently, things were only getting worse.
He paused in front of Yuugi's door. He could hear people talking inside... sounded like Yuugi, Atem, and... Anzu? Had to be Anzu. From the sound of things, it wasn't a good time to interrupt them...

There had been a long awkward pause after Anzu asked if Yuugi was okay. Long enough even Atsuro was probably beginning to wonder if the conversation had died for some reason. Anzu looked over at Atem, who was distracted with Yuugi's condition. The former Pharaoh had put the bag on the counter and looked like he was going to step forward when Yuugi shook his head.
"I-It's okay Atem. I can tell her. Anzu, I-"
"Partner, be sure about this."
Yuugi blinked and gave a confused expression towards Atem. Wait, why was he interuppting? Anzu had looked over to Atem at this time as well. The former Pharaoh shook his head.
"You can't take it back if you say it," said Atem.
"Yuugi...?" Anzu stated.
"I know that, Atem! Why..." Yuugi paused. Why? Because Atem thought it wasn't gonna work out? No, Yuugi realized it was more because he was trying to protect him. Yuugi shook his head and looked towards Anzu, "I like Atem!"
----------
Izanami gave a small smile at Souji's confirmation. The way it softened her face was amazing. She usually had some kind of glare going on, but now she looked like a high school girl should. And more than that, if Souji was good at spotting this kind of expression on people, he'd realize it was that of a girl who had just been told "yes" by a guy she liked. Probably rather unsettling, considering.
She walked forward and pulled open about three drawers, pulling things from each. She put a whole slew of utensils on the counter and was opening the fridge before Souji could object. She pulled out the white frosting and now had the vegetable drawers open. If all he had was that for frosting, she'd have to improvise.
In other words, she had kind of just taken over.

Atsuro had wondered if the conversation had just up and died, and had actually been heading to knock on the door when Yuugi spoke up again. It was about this point when Atsuro realized what they were about to go into and took a couple steps away from the door. Maybe it would be better to come back later... when Yuugi wasn't about to admit to the girl that liked him that he liked another guy.
-------------------
Souji went straight back to feeling unsettled as Izanami's expression softened. If it had just been the fact that she actually looked her apparent age, that would have been good enough. But she wore an expression he'd seen all too often on girls in the many schools he'd been to. Instinctively, he took a couple steps away from Izanami, intending to put as much distance as possible between the two of them without putting too much distance between them.
At least she looked like she knew what she was doing... At least she really looked like she knew what she was doing... but it scared him a little bit just how happy she was about this.
