There are many things people living in New England know, and one of them is that skunks stink. Both metaphorically and literally.
I should know. I have had to clean the smell off one of our cats TWICE.
So last night, a skunk sprayed outside our house. I went out with Grandpa to check, we didn't see anything. Fearing that one of our cats had been sprayed, we stayed up. We somehow were able to smell skunk spray inside the house. We were worried that somehow the skunk had gotten inside the house. But it turns out it was one of our cats.
The SAME cat that had already been sprayed twice.
So we ended up catching him without much problem and kept him in a cat carrier all night long. Oh yeah, the cat was in my room, so I had to listen to him FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. Doesn't do my sanity any good.
Getting a mere two hours of sleep and having to rely on coffee for energy, Grandpa and I went to wash the cat. Or rather, me doing the physical work while he helped me out.
Have you ever tried to bathe a cat, much less a muscly cat like this one? Yeah... not fun. He kept trying to scratch and bite at my arms, and tried to escape. (From the time two years prior, I wizened up and bought some heavy-duty glove for future skunk-related incidents) Eventually, after getting the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda into his fur, we kept him in the cat carrier for another hour.
And then shit hit the fan.
He escaped when I took him out to wash the stuff out of his fur, and he got outside. I was out there for a good couple hours, until I decided "fuck it, he'll come eventually" and came inside. Grandma is currently on "guard duty", and so far, she tried to grab the cat once, and it escaped.
FUCK YOU SKUNKS.
