Danny felt William grab Egon's hand, heard William's voice reach Egon's ears. This possession thing, it was never something Danny liked to do. Sure, in the beginning, he was able to use it to prank on Dash, but that had lost its flavor after Danny was mistaken as a bully. And sure, he'd once taken over Paulina's body, but that was to boot Tucker out of it. Now, he was using it to keep an injured man alive, and it drained his already weakened/waning powers. But it had to be done. If it wasn't, Egon could die, and Daniel didn't want to be responsible for that. But at the same time, even with William's urging, even with the brace being fitted around his neck, Danny wasn't sure he could hang on.
He felt it was his fault, anyway. All of this, all his fault. The situation with Belphegor? He couldn't be sure what the guy would do, maybe he'd have let the other ghosts go if Danny hadn't interfered, or perhaps William would have a better chance of saving them. Egon? Vlad was there for him. He'd followed Danny into the void, not Egon. If Danny hadn't been there, Egon would still be okay, living his life. The reason the man had been put in the crossfire was because Danny was too stupid to take him and run. The reason he had to make the choice between running and leaving Will to fight or allowing Egon to get himself in this situation was because his powers wouldn't work.
And that was another thing. He'd taken a break. He should'v known that heroes weren't allowed the luxury of breaks. Because he'd taken a break, people were in danger, and it was all his fault...
