It's getting close to being that time of year... November. Somewhen in 1999 a group of people got together to celebrate WRITING. Since then NaNoWriMo has gradually grown and grown into something big that hundreds of people take part in each year. Some succeed. Some don't make the word limit or cut off date. No one is really a loser so long as they just try to write and enjoy themselves.
NaNoWriMo - 30 days and nights of literary abandon!
The goal is to write 50,000 words over the course of the month of November. That's just 1,666 words a day. Some days it might SEEM like a lot, others you'll overshoot that goal without batting an eye. Even if you can only write during one or two days during the entire week... so long as you give yourself a few hours to just sit down and let your creativity flow.
Can you win? Well yeah, technically. They give you a badge on the site labeling you as a winner but really the reward of 'winning' in NaNoWriMo is the satisfaction and feeling of achievement. You set out to do something and you DID it. Even if you don't make the 50,000 word limit by the end of the month, if you still have these feelings then you've still technically won.
NaNoWriMo is a writing and creativity exorcise. An encouragement to all the would-be, wanna-be novel writers of the world. You CAN do it! You just need to sit down and try!
If you decide to join me in my crusade to write then join NaNoWriMo and LET ME KNOW here in the thread. Give a link to your page so I can friend you... or send me a friend request! If enough people decide to give it a try then I'll even create a forum thread for all of us at DC to be able to stop by, hang out, drop a few words or discuss the topic of the novels we're writing!
I'm known as sleepZombie on NaNo. Stop by my page and send me a friend request or ping me a NaNoMail.
Hoping to see you soon (or at least in November)! <3
