Honda took a step forward at that. Both Atem and Yuugi turned towards it. The taller teenager looked almost like he had a headache. He seemed a little upset too. He came up behind the couch before speaking. He hadn't really missed the "television show" comment, but for now he was focusing on the guy that looked like he'd wish himself out of existance given the chance.
"I haven't exactly been told about everything that's going on here, so let me get a few things straight. You got into a fight with some formerly human friend of yours and came here for something like sanctuary. Now you're messing around with something he controls just because you think you deserve to die for something neither of these guys are blaming you for? Sound about right so far?"

"N-no, I didn't mean it like that..."
Atsuro flinched away from Honda. He just now realized what he'd been saying. Was his death wish so large that he was ignoring what should have been common sense for someone who had been involved in this for so long? He looked rather guilty. Here he was, asking Yuugi and Atem to take him in, and yet he was taking advantage of their kindness to just set up his own death.

Honda looked very annoyed at Atsuro's reaction. Yuugi and Atem had both been looking at him until Atsuro reacted. Yuugi turned back towards Atsuro and spoke before Honda could continue.
"I really don't think K1-kun will just attack you, Atsuro-kun," he looked down at the COMP, the screen still open and the folders displayed.
"It looks like the only one blaming you for anything you did is you," Honda said, "Next thing you'll be saying is that you're worthless and need to leave so you don't put any of us in danger. Get over yourself."
"Honda-kun!" Yuugi said. Honda's words were getting harsher, after all.
"Atsuro, if you're right you're going to be dead no matter what you do. If you're wrong, however, your chances are best if you stop being reckless and let us help you. You're running, Atsuro," Atem said.

Atsuro hung his head. They were right, as usual. He rested his head in his hand and waved for Yuugi to stop as Yuugi admonished Honda.
"...It's alright. He's right," Atsuro said. He sighed and slouched over, resting both of his arms on his thighs. "They're both right. I'm sorry, I've been being stupid."
He gave another sigh and hung his head. "...I guess I really have been running away from everything, huh?"

Yuugi refocused on Atsuro as he waved and Atem spoke up. The short teenager gave a concerned and somewhat critical look at Atsuro as he spoke, but his shoulders fell as he continued. Atsuro was serious, and not in the self-degradation way he had been earlier. Atem looked forward and spoke.
"It's a lesson we all have to learn sometimes, Atsuro. Strength rarely comes from success. It comes from the will to fight regardless of the outcome."
"It's not stupid to be scared, Atsuro-kun," Yuugi said.

Atsuro gave a bitter smile. Here he was getting lectured on something he thought he already knew. Just showed how much he really knew.
"That kind of attitude would have gotten me killed back in the demon realm," Atsuro said with a chuckle. His expression was serious again as he continued.
"You're right, Yuugi, I've been scared. I think that's what hurts the most... the fact that I'm scared of my best friend." He shook his head sadly. "I'm scared of what K1's become."

There were no responses to Atsuro's final comments. Yuugi wanted desperately to find words that made Atsuro feel better, but he didn't want to lie. The truth was he hadn't seen K1 in a while. If K1's appearance had really changed, maybe he was right. Atem was silent because he knew there wasn't anything more that could be said at this point. That lesson was something people had to learn, and through hardship. Even Honda wasn't sure what to do. He'd been ready to pop the guy one, but he seemed to have gotten the point. No need to kick a dog. Atem seemed to come onto something and turned his head towards Atsuro.
"Atsuro, I think there is something you can do," Atem looked in thought for a moment, "Have you met Anpu yet? He'd likely remind you of Bakura's evil personality."

Atsuro blinked and looked up. He frowned at Atem's words.
"...Bakura's evil personality? You mean, like, Dark Bakura?" Atsuro asked. He thought about that. "No, I've never met him, though I did hear Abel attacked him once. Why do you ask?"

(OOC: We will ignore my canon mistakes in the past this is a retcon in the name of YGO canon!)
Atem blinked and looked at Yuugi for a second. Both of their eyes widened at the same moment. It didn't seem that far a leap when they thought about it. Yuugi's face screwed up a bit in a nervous expression. Of course, if they applied the term the Dark Games had to Zorc, they would have to towards Malik's evil personality and Atem while he and him were still sharing a body. Atem gave a nod in response to Atsuro's question.
"We've never called him that, but yes. Anpu is the spirit of a figure I knew in Ancient Egypt as the 'Thief King'," Atem lifted up the Ring hanging around his neck, "Currently he has sole possession of Bakura's body. He sent me a message informing of his intentions to escape and take the Ring back. He's aware of the Dark Games now, something he apparently wasn't before."
"Atem, where are you going with this?" Yuugi asked. Atem held up a finger, he was getting to it.
"Anpu would know me and Partner on sight. If you haven't met him, you might be able to get a different kind of response. He'll likely jump between 'Bakura' and himself on you, if he doesn't just stick with his flawless imitation of Bakura. Me and Partner have a plan to try and get Bakura back as the main personality, with the ability to fight to be dominant."
"If you could do something that could further stroke his ego and make him more careless, it could be a great help. But it's a big request. Anpu isn't stupid, if you do it poorly he'll probably see through it."
"I don't know how much he knows from Bakura-kun... Atsuro-kun, that anime you say we're from... you know about Bakura-kun, right? I think you might be able to do something if you could get Anpu to believe you're an old friend of Bakura-kun's... at least, if he pretends to be Bakura-kun..."
Atem gave a slight smile and nodded, "A police officer came to the place we work earlier today. He said Bakura is locked up. It's the station near here."

Atsuro frowned. He was pretty familiar with Bakura, though all he knew was anime based, and he knew Bakura had gotten way more characterization in the manga. It was entirely possible he'd screw up. But he hadn't met Anpu yet, that was also true. They could use this to their advantage.
"At the police station near here? I'm pretty sure I know where that is... Yeah, that shouldn't be too much of a problem," Atsuro said. He grinned. He could actually make himself useful.

Yuugi gave a grin as well at Atsuro's change of attitude. Atem gave a small smile as well. He still looked a fair bit harsh, though. This was a serious thing they were asking Atsuro to do, and if it went bad, it could screw up the entire plan. That was part of why Atem had suggested it. Something important for Atsuro to do was quite possibly what he needed.
