Eddward winced a bit. He hadn't intended to make Felix worried, HE was more worried about Felix! "N-no, no, it's nothing, I'm just, trying to be sensitive to your plight. This, this cannot be easy for you." He sighed deeply. "But... if you wish to hear it, I'll continue from the Dark Empire on."
And so he did. He went through the long-winded tale, through Felix's ascension, Shade's attack, the concieving and birth of Marion, the Apartment Massacre, Shinichi's betrayal and their transformations into the Angels of Light and Twilight, the Wizard, Masahiro's child, defeating the impersonater... and finally, the infection.
"...it wasn't until later when we were finally told what... F-Felix had done," Edd choked out. "And he... he treated it like nothing. His words were spiteful, as if he had accepted hatred before it was dealt to him. I pleaded with him why, why he would take advantage of my sickness and betray me out of spite... he claimed to have done it all to protect me and in the end..." He shook his head. "...he insulted my name and cast me aside. As if I was nothing to him. And he was gone.
"It... was the worst blow.. of them all."

Felix looked at Edd saying his sadness came from Felix's plight as something to worry about, but nevertheless the story continued, so he was satisfied in knowing he'd get his answers. He listened to Edd as he spoke. The story sounded good in the first parts. Felix earned his wings back, they stopped Shade. They even had a child. But then there was a massacre and Shinichi betrayed them... they changed, meaning Leon had to be dead if he had become the Twilight Angel. Then there was the Wizard and God's impersonator. Felix's happiness died here. He realized they had it hard, but it sounded like this world's Felix wasn't doing right even then.
But then there was the infection part. Felix's eyes widened in horror at what he heard. But the tip of the iceberg was when he learned what he had done to Double D.
He insulted my name and case me aside. As if I was nothing to him. And he was gone.
Past Felix's mind broke. Not in a bad way. As the demon's inside him still warred to take control of his soul, they had not won. But he looked like his heart had been wrenched out of his body. In retrospect, considering the situation, this was a very normal reaction. Nausea built him in his system and he suddenly lurched forward, dropping to his arms and knees. He had not puked, but he almost had. Tears were streaming down his face as he tried to calculate what he had just heard.
"Why... why would I be so... so... what purpose could I have ever had... no excuse..." His voice was high pitched and full of despair, not angry or vengeful, but girlish and downhearted. "Would I have gone this way... would I have done the same if Solaris had not..." His heart felt like it had been sliced in two, to know that he had lost his love so early, yet might've grown to lose him later in life as well. "Why... why...?"

"F-Felix!" Like a natural reflex, Eddward knelt to the ground beside him, growing worried all over again. As the young angel began to bewail, he shut his eyes again and held him close.
"I... I wish I could answer that with confidence, Felix," he admitted. "If only I had been more aware of it before it spiraled out of control... the others have a theory that he had gotten drunk with power when he became to Twilight Angel, and right now that seems the most plausible... otherwise... I-I don't know."

Felix felt Edd hold him. Those arms once held him and yet... he had thrown them away? "Edward... I..." He wanted to say he'd never do that to him, but how could he say that now with confidence? He'd said it before, even thought he meant it... but would he have insulted Edd? Would he have tossed him to the side like a dirt stained rag if Solaris hadn't already destroyed his very existance before such a future could form? Anything he said now... how could Edd believe someone who had lied to him, who had betrayed him? Suddenly the cold truth of this world hit him like a sack of bricks. It wasn't a second chance. It was fate laughing at him, showing him the sad reality of what would've happened if Solaris had not come, as if to say Solaris was right in taking Edd so early.

"Felix... Felix, please..." Eddward tried to calm him down, kneeling before him, holding his face... "I know this isn't easy to hear, I'm so sorry... I..."
Eddward bit his lip. This was one of those times when words were lame. Useless. He recalled easily how meaningless words seemed when the others had tried to console him for his loss. So he silenced himself and opted to hold Felix close, hoping to bring him some warmth, some comfort, rubbing his back. "Shhh..."

Edd holding him made him feel warm. It was comforting for the moment. But the finality of it struck him as if a baseball bad had just bashed him across the face. It was over. Even if he hadn't done it, this world's version of him had. He had committed the ultimate sin and broken Edward, the one he was supposed to love and protect. No doubt he was out suffering his punishment now, but that meant that this was a world that hated Felix Falora... that hated him. And even though Edd was trying to comfort him now, Felix knew Edd wouldn't be able to take him back, that he'd have to leave him.
It really was over. He'd lost everything.

"Shhh.... oh, please, shh..." What could Eddward have said? He was at a loss for words, and he hated it. He despised that fact that his once lover was in pain and nothing he could say would give him true solice. But he could darn well try anyway.
"If it... if it helps..." he eventually croaked. "We had our ups and downs, and the ending was tragic, but... I wouldn't want to take it back. The adventure I had with you shaped me into who I am today... and for the most part, it was wonderful."

Felix heard Edd speak. He had a way with words, but nothing he said would change the inevitable. The pain that had gripped him was already so strong as he knew the fate he had to face. For living despite the fact he was supposed to be destroyed by Solaris, he'd have to face an even worse punishment.
Living alone in a world that hated him. He, too, would suffer the same fate as this world's Felix also suffered. Though maybe it did not have to be as bad, but who knew what fate truely had in store?

Eddward frowned down at him, knowing whatever he would say right now would not help. What was he to do, then? He couldn't just leave him here, there was no way he bring himself to do that. But what kind of reception would he recieve back home?
Oh... right. It couldn't be much worse than the negative feelings going on there already, wouldn't it?
"Where... do you plan to go?" he ventured, not letting him go just yet. "At the very, very least... I could offer you a night's stay in our House of Blue Leaves."

"Wh-What would the others say if you did that?" Felix asked. "Ed... Eddy... They'd be upset, wouldn't they? I... I couldn't do that to you, they might be upset at you..." He cared more then Seven at least.

Eddward shook his head. "Don't worry. I've sort of being hurting my own reputation already with another I've brought in. Once more won't make a difference, and I'm sure they'll understand once they hear of your plight. You just entered this realm, you don't have the curse put on this world's Felix Falora."

Felix listened to Edd. The boy had indeed grown highly pure. Very pure. There wasn't a way to describe it. The pureness would've hurt him if he were a dark angel. He frowned softly, but... "Well you won't let me go on my own anyway, so I guess I'll come," he said softly. And even if Edd tried to deny it, he'd be forced to agree Felix had a point there. Edd wanted to be good at all costs, so he would've most likely made Felix come with him, even if he had to force him.

"I just... don't want you to be lost and alone," Eddward shook his head. "What HE has done shouldn't condemn you. It certainly isn't fair. And... I'm well aware of the pains on loneliness. I know I'll never be able to bring pure comfort to you, the more I can do to soften the blow, the better."

"... ... ... You really have become... so much... purer..." Felix didn't know what else to say by this point. Then again, Edd had unintentionally broken his mind. Thank God for the fact he didn't snap the same way this world's version of him had. But he had to contemplate what it all meant now. Getting his wings back didn't mean a thing. In the end, he was still alone... and he was going to be alone forever.

"... I get that a lot," Eddward noted with a single, half-hearted chuckle. He helped Felix to his feet. "...come with me. At least it will be warm in the House." He tentatively took Felix's hand. "...come."
