Abilities/Powers: Tomoyo is a hell of a fighter. With her feet, she can chain combo the weakest mook into triple digits as shown by her constant abuse of Youhei Sunohara (but in retrospect he had it coming) and could probably hold her own in a fight here if she had to.
Skills: Besides her fighting, she's a good leader. She becomes student council president after all.
Personality: Tomoyo is a girl who honestly cares for other and wants to help them succeed in life. She also has a care for nature, as shown by her reason for becoming Student Council President in the first place. However, when it comes to helping people, she'll even break the rules if it comes down to it. She's gained a reputation for assaulting people that harassed the common folk and is even introduced in this manner when she beats up a gang treading on school grounds, kicking them off motorcycles with unnatural strength. She's also a good worker, as shown in her scenes when she's in a bear suit and entertaining children, showing a more compassionate side around her. She's bisexual; she's never admitted this to anyone because she's felt it would
History: Tomoyo Sakagami is one of the main characters of Clannad. Introduced as a strong girl after a run-in with some gang members that had rode in on campus, she dispatched them with ease despite the fact that they were on bikes. She often gets played off as the subject of comic relief when sexist Butt Monkey Youhei Sunohara tries to claim she's either a whore who pays guys off for the right to beat them up in public or she's secretly a transvestite and just happens to be a man. Naturally Tomoyo beats the shit out of him. She has enough sense to let him try to throw the first punch, but once it becomes self-defense, she gives Sunohara some vicious beatings. At one point his face was so mutilated it had to be censored.
Tomoyo, however, ends up becoming more important later on when the problems of Fuko and Kotomi are resolved. It seems that Tomoyo wants to become President of the Student Council. Her motivation is to protect the Sakura Trees from being cut down. To this end, she enlists Tomoya's help and the ever-so-friendly Blue-Haired Bishounen agrees. However, after getting into a fight (most likely for a good reason), and despite Tomoya taking all the responsibility (since he's already cited as a delinquent anyway), rumors spread around that Tomoyo was actually the leader of a ruthless gang of criminals, thus throwing her good reputation in the toilet. Tomoya, however, saves Tomoyo's reputation by having her compete in every single athletic event in school
She becomes Student Council President and thus goes on to save the Sakura trees. She becomes a minor character in the second season, justified by the fact that the main story of the Clannad anime is Tomoya taking Nagisa's route. In a special episode that shows the Tomoya/Tomoyo route, however, Tomoyo is seen making breakfests for and taking care of Tomoya as he tries to find a job. However, the other students threaten, coerce, and force Tomoya into breaking up with Tomoyo because his presence with her is damaging her reputation. He breaks up with her, thinking she might get more work done if he's away from her, but it only makes them both miserable. At the end of the episode, Tomoyo runs back to Tomoya and states that she only wants to be with him. The two reunited, a now graduated Tomoya sees Tomoyo and her little brother Takafumi off to school.
