Oh my flying pie I'm happy! I just discovered the english names for the starters, and that the Isshu region isn't Isshu in ANY location outside japan! Kinda freaky, huh? So anyway, don't go getting onto me about what I'm about to say, you've been warned ahead of time. 
Firstly... Snivy. Reminescent of the oldest running Sonic gags in the history of fans, but still different. I'm willing to bet that the high majority of (remaining) fans that enjoyed his old little nickname of "Smugleaf" Are going to slap them onto him, but who cares?! I think it suites them just fine! Snide, proud as a piplup, and they just stand there like they're bored. and their vine whip attack, so it fits perfecterfectly!
Second... Tepig. Not... happy. Apparently it has to do with lukewarm, but Taper came to mind pretty quickly...
Finally... Oshawatt. I'm not a metal gear fan, but to those in the know... I bet you're laughing right now. Nuff said.
