"This is the place..."
Kyle looked warily around the abandoned hall in the mall. He didn't like this place. Kyle was usually a stickler for the rules, and it was technically illegal to go back here. If they got caught here, all three of them could get in huge trouble.
"I'm really sorry to drag you away from the search for Masahiro to come here, but I wouldn't have wanted to come if it wasn't important," Kyle mumbled. He shook his head. "It feels bad in here. Like darkness..."
There were blood splatters across the walls. Kyle felt a bit sick looking at them. Someone had obviously killed someone and in here. Fairly recently, too. Before he could say anything else, someone walked out from behind a corner. She was walking with a cane, but strangely, she didn't have a limp. Her eyes widened as she saw Kyle.
"I know you..." Aileen said. Kyle's eyes widened at the same time, and he took a step back.
"Oh god."

Double D hadn't questioned Kyle's intuition for a second. In a way, he saw a relfection of himself within the boy, so it was only natural to attend to his needs. Plus part of it was an unspoken apology for had happened earlier in the bedroom. The angel still had yet to fully forgive himself for that unwanted display.
Besides, the closer they got to the spot, the more he felt it too. It was a stronger, manevolent force of darkness that in a way felt familiar... he went on high alert, and high caution, clenching a fist glowing with golden light warily. He certianly did NOT want a repeat of the last time he treated to treat darkness.
"It's no trouble at all, Kyl...?" He faltered at the girl's appearance. She LOOKED harmless, but... but no, her body was SCREAMING FORTH that darkness. "...who...?"

Coming to this place the way he was, Otto was honestly quite unsure. While he was willing to bend the rules ever so slightly if it became necessary, he still had an incredibly bad feeling about all of this... The blood splattered everywhere didn't help anything. "Keep in mind not all darkness is bad kid..." Though that seemed to be a popular oppinion with many people...
That... Was when Otto saw the girl.
Now, Otto had felt more then his fair share of energy sources of all kinds. Kijin Kain had dark powers and he was considered evil... But... This dark energy felt worse. It felt horrible...
But what was even worse?
It felt WAAAAAY too familiar...
"... Oh no..." He bemoaned, looking just as annoyed as he was afraid. "Why did it have to be you?" He looked to Double D. "I thought you said you handled this guy!"
The girl's body may have said Aileen...
But Otto's senses said Oni.

Both Aileen and Kyle seemed to be staring at each other. There was a fear in both of their eyes, and it was directed at the person standing across from them. Kyle was stuttering; it was Aileen who got her words out first.
"I knew it. I knew it, it's you. It's you," Aileen said. Her expression changed to a glare and she began taking a few steps toward Kyle. "How could I ever forget you?" she snarled. "Forgetting you would be like forgetting my own name."
Kyle took a step back to match each of Aileen's own. He looked toward Edd and Otto, and suddenly, Aileen stopped.
"They don't know, do they."
Kyle gulped. He lowered his head, and his hair fell over his eyes as he spoke again. "....Aileen, I didn't mean to.... you know I didn't..."
"Bullcrap!" Aileen yelled. She looked toward Edd and Otto, and began to talk. "Five years ago, on the way home from school, my father's car was attacked by a shadowy beast. That monster caused my father's car to spin off and crash. I was crippled for life. I was trapped in that crippled body for years because of him!" She pointed at Kyle.
"Aileen... please... it wasn't me, it was Oni..."
"BULLSHIT!"
Aileen dropped her cane to the ground. "It's all lies... lies, lies... you're a damn liar... you know how I know...? Because Oni told me himself... you're a damn liar who just killed Papa out of cold blood..." The shadows around Aileen's feet began to writhe.

Double D flinched. Of course. Of-freaking-course. No wonder the darkness felt familiar.
"We... couldn't outright destroy him," he admited to Otto. "Only banish him from Kyle's body. We thought he had lost his power..." He gaze slowly went back to the girl, a glare forming. "...though unfortunately that doesn't seem the case."
Was there any point in reasoning? Well, he may as well try. He took a step forward, moving a protective arm in front of Kyle, and addressed her. "Aileen, was it? Listen, take it from someone who's endured pain at that monster's expense. Kyle is not your enemy. Oni is. He is a crafty demon who had tricked Kyle into a near-inescapable life of misery...and it seems he's tricked you too."

Otto growled, he didn't really want to try reasoning with anything that piece of $#it Oni took over. But remembering Kyle, maybe it was worth a shot following Double D's example. "Listen to him, kid. We may know now what history you have with Kyle, but believe us when we say that, THAT doesn't matter anymore. The past is past. What matters now, is that Oni doesn't give a $#it about you, or whatever you want. HE.. WILL.. KILL YOU to obtain that which he and only he desires."
His hands transformed into claws at that moment. "Look, we saved Kyle and we can save you too." Of course taking in the story, and the writhing shadows, he growled. "It'll be your choice whether or not you come with us, conscious or not."

Aileen began to chuckle at Edd and Otto's words. Especially at Otto's words. She put a hand on her head, as if to hold back some kind of madness that was about to burst out of her.
"I don't want to be saved," Aileen said. "I know the whole song and dance. I'm going to die so Oni can get a new body. But I don't care. All I care about is having myself a new body--" she tapped her leg. "--and having the power to defend myself against you superpowered freaks."
She held up her cane, and was a bit wobbly on her feet as she lifted it and pointed it at Edd, Otto, and Kyle. "Don't you people ever think about us normal people here? We exist. We can't defend ourselves against you superpowered freaks. I've had friends die because of you people. And don't say you're defending us, because you're heroes and all, because you're not. Normal people have never wanted your help. All you've ever done is bring more trouble down on us.
"Like right now. You're trying to save me. I don't want to be saved," Aileen finished up. Kyle didn't object to any of Aileen's statements. Fact was, before Oni had ruined his life, he'd honestly shared a lot of the same sentiments. People didn't know how much they were hurting the unpowered folks...
"So leave," Oni's voice snarled out from all around them. "You heard the girl. She doesn't want your help. She just wants to exercise the power I gifted her."

As the girl spoke, Double D had begun to clench a tight fist without realizing it, his throat feeling tight too. It was not easy to hear, not easy to soak in the fact that he was intentionall hurting others by existing.
But... he felt... not despaired but... angered by it. How dare this ungrateful girl judge them.
"And do YOU ever stop to think," he muttered. "...that some of us 'superpowered freaks' may have come to be through circumstances beyond our control? Against our will? Do you think we want to fight in these countless confrontations? Do you think we all get our sick kicks at your expense, that none of us care? Do you honestly think Kyle wanted to kill your father and other innocents with a demon possessing him?
"And THIS...!" He gestured to the blood-spattered walls. "This is your 'gift!?' How does anything you lay claim to justify this carnage!? Oni is not giving you tools of self-defense, he's giving you what you hate most! You're no better than the rest of us 'freaks!'"

If Double D was angry, Otto was OUTRIGHT FURIOUS.
"WHY YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE-!!!!" He held himself back after saying that. To be perfectly honest, Otto was normally not a patient man, and Aileen had crossed a line right there. "Listen up you little Guinea Pig, where would you normal people be, if we Super Powered freaks weren't here ANYWAYS? I agree with Double D on his second point... YOUR... NO... DIFFERENT, from either of us. Wanna know the difference though you power drunk? Whether we gained our powers accidentally or not, we use our to TRY to look after you people." He crossed his arms. "Many times though, it's people like YOU who start the fight, not us." He them motioned around, regaining attention to the blood "And do you honestly see any of us doing stuff like this?"
Huffing, he turned his back.
"Come on Double D, Kyle. It's no use talking to her. She's beyond help of any kind. It'd be like trying to help a suicidal mental."

Aileen only continued to chuckle. The shadows in the room began to bend unnaturally, and they receded to reveal what Aileen had killed. Two RHAs lay dead against a wall, their mouths open in a terrified gape. She pointed to them.
"They attacked me first. I was only defending myself... decided to leave them as an example for everyone else," Aileen stated. She looked a bit wistful for a moment. "I have lived here my entire life. I've heard of worlds where everyone is just like me. Where everyone is a normal human. I've heard of these worlds... and I've decided I'm going to make it happen. It's the superpowered freaks that cause all of the problems. The ones who rob the banks and the ones who fight the robbers are all the same. Just by existing, you cause problems, because some of you get a hero complex and try to save people who loathe your very existence."
"You're insane..." Kyle breathed. He looked toward Otto, but shook his head. He knew Aileen from before, and this... this wasn't her! She hadn't been like this at all! "Aileen! Please, snap out of it! If this is because of what happened five years ago, I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"
Aileen frowned, and the shadows around her writhed. And then, Aileen's shadow burst up from behind her. Kyle took a step back as he saw the form Oni had taken. It wasn't like the form he had taken before, when he'd possessed his shadow. This one was more animalistic. It was almost foxlike, but the grin it possessed...
"LEAVE!" Oni bellowed.

Double D visably flinched. It was obvious by now that there was no way to reason with this girl. Kyle's conviction seemed about right; her views seemed unnaturally cold and vindicated. Would it be wise to face her right away?
It was Oni's appearence that left the Angel of Light rooted to the ground in a primal fear he had hoped to forget. He recognized the fox-like creature too well... all too well. Buried nightmares and forgotten anguish began to resurface, and Double D was frozen in place, lightly trembling.

As Double D and Kyle stood there, they were aware of someone suddenly getting in front of them; holding his arms out like he was shielding them.
Otto stood there, growling at Oni, snarling in fact... But this wasn't the time, nor the place... After a second, he crossed his arms. "Look your freaks, I'm only going to say this ONCE. We'll leave, but you need to know this." There was no hesitation in his voice, no confidence... He was downright SURE of himself. Of his own strength. "If we EVER catch word of either of you pulling crap worse then this-" He motions to the RHA's. "Hurting innocent people, then there WILL be a fight..."
He snarled with an unholy fury. "That goes DOUBLE if you try to pull something funny on me, my friends, or anyone else close to me... If you come within three feet of ANY of them, I don't care how, I don't care when, but I WILL KILL YOU. I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU WHERE EVERYONE ELSE FAILED." He even emphasized this by flashing his claws, but put them away at that moment to emphasize he wasn't fighting now.
Aside from that though, there was only one way to describe that statement.
DEAD SERIOUS.
With that said, he gently guided Double D and Kyle away. "Come on you two." He glared at Aileen especially, since, it seemed, that entire rant was directed COMPLETELY at Oni. "Nothing here but a demon and his Bi%@#."
He knew Kyle wouldn't like him using that word to describe Aileen, but really, Otto was in no mood to have his morals questioned by an obviously insane ADHD Patient, his friend or no...
Still that one part of his brain racked around for possibilities to somehow free the girl, if not for Kyle's sake.
[One thing that I hope to build up for Otto is that he grows plenty strong himself. I mean, neither he nor Wally are really slouches on the battle field anyways, but some development might be in order to make sure they don't fall behind the others.]

"Keep talking, shadow boy. You know you can't hurt me with those powers," Oni chuckled. Aileen remained silent, still glaring at Kyle.
Kyle flinched away from Otto's grip as the man led him away from Oni and Aileen. He looked down, his hair covering his face, and shook his head. It was likely Double D would sense something very off about Kyle's aura... and not in a good way.
"It's all my fault..." he said once the three of them were further away from Aileen and Oni. He shook his head again. "...Double D... Otto... go on to look for Masahiro without me. I need some time alone..."
Aileen frowned and turned around. "Come, Oni. We have better things to do." And with that, the shadows in the room receded to the space under her feet.

Double D took a moment to get ahold of himself once they had gotten away from Oni. Dear lord, if things had gone bad, what would he have done?
He shook his head, not willing to think about it any further. There were other things to concern himself with, his own weakness was not priority right now. "If... if that's what you wish, Kyle. We'll meet back at the House later... hopefully with Masahiro in tow."
As Kyle began to depart, Double D gave Otto a worried look. "...his change in aura concerns me. Something's...off."
