The surge in Edd's energy had far more to do with Seven's flickering solidity coming closer to being once again solid then Elwood's shout. It was enough that he could actually focus, especially with the Angel of Light using his own aura to block Kyle's darkness. But there was still a massive pain, a migraine that was trying to burrow through the center of his brain.
While holding his head with his left hand, Seven managed to close his hands around his sword and pull it closer. He didn't think he could get up, and there were still signs he wasn't exactly stable. He couldn't voice it, not with the pain, but he was worried.
Darkness... demon... going to hurt the him... going to hurt the person the Enemy is misleading... cant'... pain... dammit, I need to help him! What good am I if I can't help... pain... can't help the innocent... I'm supposed to protect them!!
In any case, he probably wasn't gonna be very helpful in the situation unless something changed.

Nothing was getting done, as far as Felix could see. The boy who had been so enraged, both at him and at King, had finally broken. He wanted to kill Felix. The angel knew that. Hands clenched tightly, tears running down his face, he ran up to Kyle. "Go ahead! Kill me if you want! But I can't stay dead! I've been cursed with immortality! I tried everything before I met Edward, but no matter what I did, I always came back! That's why I'm still alive! That's why I came back! So if killing me will make you feel better, then go ahead and do it... but please! Don't hurt Edward! DON'T HURT EDWARD!"
That seals it. Somehow, this island has broken the very fabrics of time and space itsself. Masahiro's eyes widened. That's the Felix I had violated, the Felix before our encounter in the Dark Empire. He's from the past.
How can this be? Edd had told me about how Felix had used to be and... this seems to be like him. Time travel? I guess when the Doctor from Doctor Who can exist here, nothing is impossible, Trevor thought.

Kyle locked up as Double D embraced him. Despite the tarlike substance that made up his body, he could feel that embrace, and he could feel the pain it was causing him. And at the same time, he could sense that bastard angel screaming for him to not hurt Eddward. For now, Kyle's body had stopped falling apart.
"...hurt... you...? I'm... hurting... you?"
Kyle's voice was still broken and distorted, but there was an emotion in there that sounded like Kyle. His thoughts became more coherent, quite likely because of the light energy surging through his unstable body.
I'd hurt him if I killed one of them...? That can't be right... I'm supposed to be protecting him. This is my job... I have to...
They all had it coming anyways. It's their faults. They caused this kind of pain to Double D, and they're getting their just retribution. Stop looking at me like that.
Stop....
Kyle's eyes, trained on the fallen angel before him, appeared to widen.
Oh god. I've become just like him.
The shadowy creature before them began to give a few choking sobs before breaking down into tears. The shadow that had been flaring off of his body began to do so with a stronger intensity, until it began to slip off of his body and leave behind a human form. When the shadow was gone, there was only Kyle, still held in Double D's embrace, sobbing. He couldn't form any words. None at all.

Double D crumpled down to his knees along with Kyle, though never broke his embrace around the child, caressing his back and soothing him not unlike a mother and her son. [glow=yellow,2,300]"Shhh, shh... that's it... good..."[/glow]
Elwood let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. That had been close. That had been too damn close. He noted Seven was getting back to normal, but with his sword at ready, the tranny took the hint to keep his distance. He bit his lip, looking the situation over, and felt stupid and useless. What would Fletcher have down? Probably gotten everything under control by now.

Elwood hadn't been the only person holding his breath, although Seven's had been held for an entirely different reason. A very pained sigh leaked out of his lips as his body visibly relaxed, although he was still very tense. It was a contrast, not a sign of relaxation. His breathing was ragged and he was covered in sweat, even his wings were slightly dragged down by it and his tight shorts and silk belt clung to his skin, his lack of a shirt being an advantage in such a case.
He pulled himself forward to relieve the pressure on the base of his wings, and ended up tipping forward. He lost grip of his sword again and both hands fell on the floor in front of him, putting him on the human equivalent of all fours. As Edd soothed Kyle, he managed to sit back up and wipe his hair out of his eyes, pulling his sword close yet again.
"He's..." Seven looked up towards Edd and Kyle for a moment before looking to Elwood, "Isn't he a... a demon?"
The word sounded foreign to him, it felt foreign coming out of his mouth. It wasn't something his teachers had ever taught him. Devil... that seemed close to the word demon, but his mind balked and insisted it was not the same. Why did he know this word he'd never been taught? Where had that word come from. Why had that explosion of shadow hurt?

Masahiro and Trevor watched as Kyle's demonic influence broke away. Trevor sighed, but Masahiro remained silent, lost in thought. Seven's words struck a nerve, however, when he had called Kyle a demon. Kyle had been unlucky, just like he had been. Karma caught up to him, raped him, and gave him his eye. But Kyle had never done anything wrong. A demon chose to make his life hell and gave him his powers in doing so. Masahiro ended up dangerously close to Seven and snarled five simple words in such a threatening manner that maybe even the trained angel would feel fear at the former angel's inner rage. "Kyle is NOT a demon." After having said that, however, he stood up and walked back to his room. Trevor, however, just waited for Edd to leave the room with Kyle before he would make his move.

Kyle remained blind and deaf to everything else as he sobbed. He didn't hear Seven's question or Masahiro's response, and probably wouldn't have cared even if he did. The source of his powers and what Oni's power had done to his body was not a concern to him anymore.
Lies, all lies.
He hated himself. He'd been foolish enough to allow Oni to take roost in his shadow in the first place. He'd spent every day waiting to die after that. And now, Kyle wished he had died. He wished Double D had never freed him. Then maybe he wouldn't have done this. Maybe he wouldn't be a berserk demon (who was he fooling by calling himself "half-demon" just because he was born human, anyways?).
Kyle felt obligated to help Double D however he could. Double D was the one who had rescued him from his hell. He'd saved his life. Kyle felt he had to repay that somehow... but it wasn't just that. Double D was a very important person to Kyle. He was the first person who had shown kindness to Kyle that Oni hadn't gutted. Perhaps Kyle didn't love Double D the same way that Felix had, but he still loved him, and somehow that love had become twisted. It didn't matter what excuses Kyle had; the stress, the bastards they lived with-- he'd still tried to kill them all.
"...So... so sorry.... I'm..." Kyle continued to sob. "I'm sorry.... I'm sorry..."

"It's alright...it's okay...[/i]"
As the darkness began to dissipate, Double D felt slightly more at ease, now that immediate danger had been subdued, and the anger had breifly been replaced by relief and fear. The later wasn't much of an improvement, but it was a start.
When he was mostly himself again, he directed his gaze up to their judging eyes, and after that close encounter, they didn't seem as scary anymore.
"Violence... and tempermental rage... have never solved anything in this household, have they?" he began, his tone now clearly firm and low in chastising. "Our world's Felix would have left either way without your barbarism; all THAT gained was a hole in the wall. Here I am trying to teach someone this very lesson and you demonstrate the exact opposite."
Elwood wrinkled his nose. "Now, wait a minute, I never...!"
"Note that I am not specifically specify whom I am refering to; they know who they are." He slowly stood, making sure Kyle stood with him, even as the boy clung to his side. "I know you think I'm foolish. That the purity in my thoughts and intentions, which even I believe I cannot control anymore because of what I've become, are meaningless in this cold world. I can accept that you believe that.
"But when it causes an immediate danger to those I'm trying to aid, as part of my duty... then perhaps it would be best if the three of us, and yes, that includes myself, departed for a little while." His voice strained a little bit, but he remained steady, even as he shut his eyes, masking his hurt. "It is obvious to me that I'm the cause the everyone's stress lately... and that is unfair to you all."

Seven really hadn't been accusing Kyle of anything. The poor teenager was completely mindscrewed at the moment and had been lucky to get any words out. He tried to get up as Masahiro more or less rushed him, managed to lose his footing, and landed with a hard thud with his sword up as a sort of shield as Masahiro leaned forward and snarled at him. He narrowed his eyes and looked ready to fight when Masahiro spun around and quickly made way to his room. If Kyle wasn't a demon, then what the hell was he?
For that matter, what's a demon... why do I know that word?!
As Kyle sobbed his apologies to Edd, Seven put his hand on the wall and pushed himself into an unsteady standing position. He tugged at the silk belt-like tie at his side, taking it off. He wiped his forehead, grimacing at just how damp the thing came back as. He didn't hear a lot of Edd's criticism, only looking up in startled surprise when Elwood objected to Edd's lecture.
He looked at Kyle as Edd got took the green haired young man to his feet. The danger, the sense of darkness... it was gone again. He looked at Edd and found himself averting his eyes. Getting out of here would be best, right? Getting Edd to someplace where he wasn't constantly under the manipulative effect of these people... so why did that idea make him feel bad?
"I still don't know what a demon is..."
It was a very quiet mutter, and he hadn't even know he'd said it out loud.

Trevor listened to Edd solemnly, as usual, but when he proposed his leaving, the green-haired boy didn't hesitate to express his emotions over it. "No! Certainly you don't have to do that! Things have just been stressed lately, Double D, but that doesn't mean you have to leave! We can adapt to it, we always do! We're your friends, Double D. You don't have to think we'll do you wrong."
"Ummm..." Lucy poked her head in. "I-I couldn't help but overhear." She walked in slowly. "I hate to be the one to say it, but... you've already done him wrong. All of us have done him wrong, so... in the end, his way of thinking is correct."

Kyle didn't object as Double D pulled him up. He was pretty much clinging to the angel and he was still sobbing. It was a wonder he still had tears left in him at this point. But as the angel went on and his words solidified in Kyle's torn mind, Kyle began to sob harder.
"No, please, don't go... it's my fault, don't..." He hiccuped and then whatever other words he was going to say caught in his throat.
In a lot of ways, it was Kyle's fault. The stress he'd been suffering had not come from Double D. It had come from Aileen. That had been when that stress had begun to build. Felix's departure, Masahiro's return and falling, Seven's introduction to the group, the alternate Felix's return, King's antics... it had been King that had broken the proverbial straw on the camel's back. He had just been the one to trigger some long building stress.
And when that proverbial straw had broken, Kyle had just snapped, instead of keeping better control of himself. He'd snapped and let his devotion to Double D get the better of him, and then he'd tried to kill them all. He probably would have died too. His body had been literally falling apart, after all.

Double D listened to the protests, to the sounds of confusion and dismay... he looked to Felix and Seven... and he shook his head. "I think we've gotten beyond the point of there being a choice...haven't we?"
"WHAT are you talking about!?" Elwood, generally stressed over the whole situation anyway, stood up to speak, surprising them yet again. "LISTEN to yourself, Double D!!" He jabbed a finger into the shocked Angel of Light's chest. "You keep going on about how you're 'causing us all this stress' when, hey, what about all the stress YOU'VE been through!? You never once complained about any of THAT, did you? And if you can pull through that, then darnit, so can we!"
He pulled away, but continued, while Double D looked on, flabbergasted. "Besides, we're supposed to be your friends. Your family. And those of us who really ARE would be willing to stick around and support whatever you believed in, no matter what!" He turned back to the others. "Am I right?"

Seven flinched as Elwood began to lecture Edd. He tensed up as Elwood began to poke at Edd's chest and gave his whole rant. Edd had been through stress? Was it a result of the people here? So wouldn't it be better to leave them?
Better to get away from the people manipulating him...?
Seven frowned as Elwood insisted they were his family. Family didn't lie, and Seven hadn't seen anything from Masahiro or King to convince him away from his initial thought. Despite his frequent naivete, the teenager wasn't stupid. He knew that the only reason there hadn't been a massive fight in which he or King and Masahiro would have died was because of Edd. He considered Edd's feelings for about half a moment before shouting towards Elwood's back about a second after Elwood had asked for everyone to agree with him.
"Family doesn't lie to each other! They don't make stuff up to mislead each other! Don't think I'm not seeing what's really going on here!!"

"Of course," Trevor said, responding to Elwood. "Those of us who really care about you, Double D, we wouldn't want you to leave because of us. We can try to overcome our stress too. We can make it through ourselves and support whatever you decide to do."
"But if you really do support everything he wants to do, then why are you trying to hard to make him stay when he wants to go?" Lucy asked, causing Trevor to shut up. "You can speak for yourself on stress, Trevor, but I know that Masahiro will never accept Seven. And I can see that King will not rationalize that this is not the Felix that hurt Double D. So it doesn't matter if you or Elwood believe that you can overcome your own stress because they will still have theirs. Double D knows that. That's why he wants to leave and..."
Seven's shouting took everyone off guard. Trevor's fists clenched and he turned to face Seven. "Lying?! What do you mean lying?! What exactly are you thinking because I honestly do not like that tone you're using!"

Kyle swallowed back another sob. "I'm sorry... please, everyone stop talking about leaving. It's my fault. I'm sorry. I'm sorry..." He trailed off toward the end there and bit back another sob before finally continuing. "If anyone should need to leave it's me... But I don't want to leave... I don't want anyone to leave..."
Kyle looked up from Double D with a gasp as Seven let out his yell, and for a moment, the boy looked like he was going to get angry again. It faded just as quickly as it appeared. This was his fault, and now everything was falling to absolute shit because of him. Because he couldn't just keep control of himself.
"Seven, pl-please..." Kyle choked out. "I've... never, ever lied to Double D... not to him or anyone here... please..."
He really looked like he was going to break...
